Located only 40 minutes from Rapid City, and next door to Custer State Park, we have the best spot in the hills. We offer a variety of options for you and your family. Nestled on 63 acres in the valley of Ghost Canyon, we are only 10 minutes or less from Custer State Park and 20 minutes from Mt Rushmore! We have a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom bunk houses that sleep 10 people. This unit also has a small kitchen and fireplace. We offer horseback riding for an additional fee.
My husband and I purchased Ghost Canyon Dude Ranch in February of 2015. We and our two boys moved down here in March and hit the floor running with all the many projects that needed to be accomplished. We absolutely love this area and what we have been blessed with.
Growing up in a hospitality industry, we have felt that Ghost Canyon has what people are looking for and have come to enjoy!
Come stay with us and see what we are talking about!
Ghost Canyon Dude Ranch is located right next to Custer State Park, and only minutes to Mt Rushmore and surrounding attractions. We truly are centrally located with out all the hub bub of the city. It's very peaceful and relaxing here at the ranch.
Very cute ranch styled house ssurrounded by wildlife and farm life.
Nice owners friendly and welcoming. Very relaxed setting at breakfast, family stlye, small portions but homecooked good.
House was smaller than I excepted (it is divided Into 3) but very roomy inside for 10 people in our section.
Nice hot tub and fire pit just a bit close to neighbors doors.
Great stay all around we enjoyed our stay.
Loved our stay at Ghost Canyon. Our family of 6 stayed in the sleeps-10 bunkhouse unit. Had ample room, all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The kids loved the second bedroom with the bunk bed. We enjoyed breakfast in the main house with Laura and Trevor and family, as well as a lovely one-hour trail ride as part of our stay. The grown-ups enjoyed the peace and quiet; the kids enjoyed the horses, dogs, cats, chickens and goat! It is a fantastic location for access to Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Rapid City attractions. We also visited Hot Springs (the Mammoth Site) and Spearfish/Spearfish Canyon - these drives were a bit farther but doable as day trips. We would definitely stay here again.
Don't rely on Google Maps directions to get to the property--it took us a very strange way through Keystone and down a private road. We thought we were lost and had to ask for directions. Much easier to get there from Rapid City by heading south on highway 79, west on highway 36, then back north on Ghost Canyon Road.
Wonderful property operated by a husband and wife team. Conveniently located to all nearby attractions such as Custer State Park, Black Hills and Mt Rushmore. Our party of 7 adults had plenty of room in Cabin 1, the larger of the 3 cabins. So nice to wake up in the morning and see horses in the pasture outside the kitchen window. Our group did not take advantage of the horseback riding opportunities at the ranch but we spoke to other guests staying there that had a wonderful time riding with Laura everyday. Laura made a delicious breakfast every morning and there is an option to have her prepare dinners as well with advance notice. I would highly recommend this property for non-riders as well as the dude ranch guests. Only negative is no central air, although there is a window unit. There is also a very good pizza place a few miles away Lintz Brothers on 36 other than that not a lot of eateries near by. I would suggest a host dinner at least one night, you never know Wild Bill might appear!
It amazes me that this place hasn't got all 5 stars. We loved the style of it and it's location. Was nice to be in the beautiful town of custer and close to Rushmore. If you stay here you won't regret it
We came up to Mt. Rushmore on a whim and booked this property without knowing much about it. We were pleasantly surprised. It is deep in the hills and the surroundings are beautiful. We were greeted by Odie (the family goat) and the dog. The kids loved that! The cabin does not offer a full kitchen but a microwave and refrigerator were available. A toaster oven would be great.
The Ghost Canyon Ranch is tucked away in the middle of natural wonderment. The view during the day is incredible; you want to just sit outside and soak it in. And the stars at night, by the campfire, are equally as breath taking. My wife and I and 5 kids (ages 16 to 6) were very comfortable in the larger bunk house. Breakfast every morning with Laura was the perfect way to start the day of site seeing and fun. Keystone is only 20 minutes away which had all the extras (restaurants, gift shops, ice-cream, shows, zip lines) your vacation might enjoy. We truly had a great time and were sad to leave, especially our girls who fell in love with the horses and their friend Oddie (a goat).
