Built just two years ago, Sonas (meaning 'happiness' in Gaelic) is a passive house with an eclectic feel to it. This house provides comfortable, well equipped accommodation in a fantastic central location, and yet it feels as if you are in the middle of the countryside.
It is simply yet tastefully furnished throughout, has three bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, 1 bathroom, a WC/Utility room and ample parking. Relax in cool surroundings inside or unwind on the back patio taking in stunning countryside views. Our open kitchen living dining room has bi-fold doors front and back which can be opened up to bring the outside in. Our beautiful outside area is slowly being developed to enhance the environment and attract nature. There is a stud next door and thoroughbred horses are kept in our field during certain times in the year.
We live right beside the river Liffey and there is a canoe club across the water; guests are also welcome to use our SUP board, life jackets as well as our bicycles. Our home is located a four minute walk from beautiful Castletown house, with miles of unspoiled walks and historic buildings along the river Liffey. We are located between the historic town of Celbridge (3km away), with lots of shops and restaurants, and Leixlip (3km away), home of the first pint of Guinness!
Maynooth, a ten-minute drive away, is a pleasant 18th century 'planned town' that hosts a range of top quality restaurants, pubs and craft shops. Maynooth College, founded as a Catholic seminary just over 200 years ago, is an excellent day trip for groups and families. There are a wide range of activities available to visitors including equestrian activities, swimming and exploring the many nightlife establishments.
Sonas is very convenient for touring Dublin city, as a bus runs right by our house that will take you to the city centre in 35 minutes, you can get there by car in as little as 20 minutes and Dublin airport is a 12 minute drive away. Alternatively, the train station is a five-minute drive, so we are well connected to all transport links. We are 3 minutes from the N4 motorway, which could take you the stunning west of Ireland if you want to explore Ireland further.
Shopping: Liffey valley, a large shopping centre with surrounding retail parks is a 7 minute drive away, Kildare village, a high-end outlet, is a 40 minute drive away. Dublin city centre is also a great place to shop and the atmosphere is always great. There are several food shops a short driving distance away.
This property is in an ideal location for accessing the K Club, where the Ryder Cup was played, and there are several golf courses very close by: Lucan golf course (5 minute cycle) Carton House (7 minute drive) and many more. There is a canoe club within walking distance and Weston airport is a 5 minute drive from us. Airplane lovers can watch hobbyists flying in and out of the airport from the back patio. Horseriding, tennis, badminton, football (astroturf pitches are a 4 minute walk away) and pretty much every sport you could think of are available locally.
