About Rick Fry
My wife Brandie and I purchased this home in 2003. In 2007 we had our son Weston and continued to live here full time until Feb. 2018. Now with a 11 year old who plays sports year round we have decided to make this our second home.

Why Rick Fry chose Williamsport
One of the most beautiful homes and property’s on the Loyalsock Creek. This property sits right on the banks of the creek and offers great view both indoor and out.

A very unique home in a relaxing spot along loyalsock creek. It was everything we hoped it would be. Making plans to return.

GREAT: view, comfort, cleanliness, privacy
We pulled into the property and were delighted by the mini-waterfall facing its front. Then we stepped into the house and saw the wonderful view of Loyalsock Creek (2018 PA River of the Year) through the large windows that stretch along the back and side of the house and knew we had chosen well—even before we personally experienced how comfortable everything is, for indoor entertainment, relaxing, dining, and sleeping. Our trip coincided with grey weather, but we were kept warm and happy by all the property has to offer, including early-morning sightings of three young deer in the back and side yards. The deck was a great place to enjoy a.m. coffee while watching the rain-swollen creek recede, returning to its swift-moving crystal-clear water. The Internet access was good and steady and strengthened Verizon cell connection, also. We hope to return to this lovely home for more of the same and to further explore the area and share experiences with its welcoming residents. Owner Rick is a perfect host.
Truly relaxing, family friendly locale and home. Worth every penny.
I wasn't sure what to expect when booking this home via VRBO for the first time. I've booked rental homes in rural areas and been burned before, only to roll up and find a lovely log home with views of the scrap yard across the street or in the middle of a construction zone. This home is anything but disappointing. It is exactly as described, only better. The area is quiet, the Loyalsock River is literally right out the back door as advertised, and the interior is warm, inviting, and modern in all the right ways. You can be as connected or disconnected as you need to be. With young children in our family, I appreciated having a land line available just in case. My girls spent an entire day looking at wildlife in the backyard and tossing rocks in the river. In a single day, you might see deer, coyotes, foxes, snakes, fish, porcupines, dozens of birds of prey, weasels and smaller rodents like squirrels and jumping mice, and more. We really enjoyed all the surrounding state parklands including the Loyalsock State Forest and World's End SP. The house is well-stocked with all the kitchen essentials you need if you prefer to cook like we do including a mixer, blender, pots and pans, etc. We liked having the board games and puzzles around too. Perfect for fishing enthusiasts and anyone looking for a place to get away in a half a day's drive from most of the east coast. With an option to book for two or more families, the price is worth it. Rooms, beds, and living areas are all spacious, spotless, and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back!
I was traveling with two colleagues on business with a client in Montoursville. The location was perfect and afforded us the opportunity work in the evenings in a very welcoming environment.
The property was well appointed and Rick was very responsive to any questions we had.
My dad's ancestors settled in this valley in the late 1800s, and my parents grew up in nearby Williamsport, so this is an area with which we were already very familiar. My parents, my sister, and I (all adults) used this rental as a place to get away for a few days to visit relatives, both living and dead. (Five of my great grandmother's siblings are resting in the nearby cemetery, surrounded by dozens of other family members). We didn't come here seeking adventure and excitement; we came to be at home, and we were not at all disappointed.
The house is clean and comfortable as promised, AND it is beautiful, with all the necessary modern conveniences (nice appliances, WiFi, etc.). The large wall of picture windows looking out onto the creek (rushing and muddy during this visit), provide a most pleasant outside/inside setting. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms were pleasant and spotless.
Wobbly renters should be aware that there are A LOT of steps to navigate, both interior and exterior. The house, built onto the side of a steep hill, has been added onto in sections on slightly different levels, so there are some transition steps on the main floor. The second, larger bedroom is on the second floor, and both bathrooms are on the first. The owners have installed good lighting (interior and exterior) so renters can navigate safely (even if one of them chooses to arrive after dark in the pouring down rain!).
We cooked several meals, visited Pier 87 for lunch (twice in 4 days!) (beware of the ENORMOUS portions!), and went into Williamsport to Franco's on Friday night. The weather was not conducive to hiking or kayaking or birding or, really, any sort of outside activity. Next time...
Rick was a great host, checking in and responding to any messages quickly. We're grateful, and we're looking forward to returning.
