This home has undergone a very long and extensive, COMPLETE remodel. All work has been done by us. "This Old House" enthusiasts would be proud. We have striven for an English country cottage look - down to the numerous gardens and hand-planed white picket fence.
To reiterate above information: Guests will have use of the entire first floor where guest bedrooms, full bathroom, laundry, kitchen, dining and living rooms are located.
Hosts live upstairs and share the front door/entrance with guests.

Parents visiting their student(s) at UPS are always welcome. We are literally two blocks from the main entrance of see the Administration Building from our property.
We designed our renovations with the intention of offering UPS parents a welcoming place to stay when visiting their children at the University.
Prepare their favorite meal and have them bring a few friends over for dinner; build a fire and watch a movie with popcorn and a glass of wine; bake their favorite cookies; have them over for their favorite dinner.
We have our own bedroom, bath and sitting room on the second floor, so will make ourselves scarce. We do store some items in the refrigerator but make every effort to be unobtrusive when/if we need to retrieve anything.

Kathleen McCormack purchased this house in 2010
We bought this home because we wanted to be in this specific neighborhood due to its proximity to the University of Puget Sound.
We previously lived in Bellevue (a Seattle suburb), and wanted to escape the ever-increasing traffic and exploding population.
Tacoma is the perfect sized city for our tastes, with access to all the Seattle amenities only 30 miles away
We bought and designed the renovations on this home with the intention of offering UPS parents a welcoming place to stay when visiting their children at the University.
Prepare their favorite meal and have them bring a few friends over for dinner; build a fire and watch a movie with popcorn and a glass of wine; bake their favorite cookies; have them over for their favorite breakfast...
The home is beautifully furnished and equipped with every convenience you could need. Dave and Kathleen are warm, friendly hosts. We will not hesitate to stay there again.
We were in town for the wedding of our niece. This property was centrally located between the venues for the rehearsal dinner, wedding, and wedding reception. Booking this property was a breeze! Dave and Kathleen greeted the first night and got us settled in and then they left us to have the run of the house! They were around for anything, but remained in their private quarters and made us feel right at home! We feel like we made new friends over the weekend! You certainly can't get that kind of service at a hotel!
Dave and Kathleen had a few provisions available for us in the fully stocked kitchen. The front porch is a great place to sit and have morning coffee or evening cocktails. The breakfast nook in the kitchen was a great place to catch up on a good book--and the birds and cats right out the window! The gardens were beautiful. The property is only minutes from several waterfront restaurants and adult beverage locations.
The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The whole house is well sound proofed. With windows open, the home was comfortable with a nice breeze. We almost wish we had needed to use the wood burning fireplace because the living room was charming!
The Safeway nearby provided everything we needed for the few days--food, adult beverages, and other minor supplies.
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel at home and comfortable! We wished we had more reasons to come back, but the wedding was a one-time event! We may make a special trip just to enjoy this property again!
Thank you, Kathleen and Dave, for sharing this little slice of heaven with us!
What a delight; a great locale, beautiful home, and warm & winsome hosts. Dave and Kathleen have created a magnificent place for a visit to the Pacific NW. My wife and daughter (17) are still talking about the stay! The apartment/cottage is perfect; clean, beautiful, and well-equipped. Dave and Kathleen are consulate hosts; warm, welcoming, and full of local knowledge/tips. We managed Rainier and Olympic National Parks and a visit to Seattle (Pike Place and waterfront) while in the area. In every sense, a great 4-day stay, and one we would recommend to anyone!
This was a lovely property that both my girls and ourselves throughly enjoyed. The location was excellent for our needs. The owners even helped us make our 9 year old a mini birthday celebration. As an ex British citizen the garden was amazing with all my old favorite flowers.
I would highly recommend this cottage as we called it.
We spent a week in Tacoma and could not have picked a better location. We were able to walk to breakfast which allowed us to explore the immediate area. We gathered groceries and fixed the majority of our meals in the well furnished and clean kitchen. The beds were extremely comfortable. Dave and Kathleen were always helpful, gracious and friendly. They are our new "best" friends in Tacoma. We had never been to Tacoma before, but now, after 5 days in their home, we officially have friends in Washington. How can you ask for a better rental location?
Beautiful garden. Sitting on the front porch drinking coffee was dreamy. Walking distance to University was great! Beautifully decorated home and very accommodating hosts!
