Overview

About the property

Hosts live upstairs - guests have exclusive use of entire first floor!

This completely renovated home is located in a quiet tree-lined neighborhood just two blocks from the beautiful University of Puget Sound campus.

Hosts live upstairs on the property with their own bath, kitchenette and living area, but share the entrance to the home.

Guests have full exclusive use of first floor of this spotless home - two bedrooms, full bath, living room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen, laundry and great front porch.

No minimum night stay requirement. Ample free parking.

No pets or smoking please.

Easy access to local amenities, waterfront restaurants and downtown Tacoma.

This home has undergone a very long and extensive, COMPLETE remodel. All work has been done by us. "This Old House" enthusiasts would be proud. We have striven for an English country cottage look - down to the numerous gardens and hand-planed white picket fence.

To reiterate above information: Guests will have use of the entire first floor where guest bedrooms, full bathroom, laundry, kitchen, dining and living rooms are located.

Hosts live upstairs and share the front door/entrance with guests.

There is a living room with wood burning fireplace and big screen HD TV; fully equipped eat-in kitchen; dining room; laundry room; and front porch with old fashioned porch swing and wicker furniture -reminiscent of days gone by. You have complete access and use of common areas. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or afternoon cocktails overlooking our lovely gardens.

Parents visiting their student(s) at UPS are always welcome. We are literally two blocks from the main entrance of see the Administration Building from our property.

We designed our renovations with the intention of offering UPS parents a welcoming place to stay when visiting their children at the University.

Prepare their favorite meal and have them bring a few friends over for dinner; build a fire and watch a movie with popcorn and a glass of wine; bake their favorite cookies; have them over for their favorite dinner.

We have our own bedroom, bath and sitting room on the second floor, so will make ourselves scarce. We do store some items in the refrigerator but make every effort to be unobtrusive when/if we need to retrieve anything.

Two blocks from the beautiful University of Puget Sound campus; within one half mile of the waterfront; within walking distance to the charming Proctor District (and STARBUCKS); one mile to Old Town (and another STARBUCKS); two miles to the waterfront restaurants and walking trails; and, three miles to downtown Tacoma; 30 miles south of Seattle.

Logistics:

* 45 minute straight shot on I-5 South from SeaTac Airport

We look forward to sharing our home with you.

Why Kathleen McCormack chose North End

We bought this home because we wanted to be in this specific neighborhood due to its proximity to the University of Puget Sound.

We previously lived in Bellevue (a Seattle suburb), and wanted to escape the ever-increasing traffic and exploding population.

Tacoma is the perfect sized city for our tastes, with access to all the Seattle amenities only 30 miles away

What makes this house unique

We bought and designed the renovations on this home with the intention of offering UPS parents a welcoming place to stay when visiting their children at the University.

Prepare their favorite meal and have them bring a few friends over for dinner; build a fire and watch a movie with popcorn and a glass of wine; bake their favorite cookies; have them over for their favorite breakfast...

An Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

We booked the house (owners Dave and Kathleen live in upper half) and thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, two blocks from the University of Puget Sound. Dave has done a great job by creating a very nice backyard space, complete with patio, barbeque and fountain. Both the front and back show the care and dedication he has invested in the selection of landscaping.

The lower half of the house has a large, fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room and dining room and two full bedrooms. It came complete with washer/dryer and cable TV, plus everything you would expect in a kitchen.

The house is situated close to many dining possibilities, just minutes away from 6th Avenue, the Procter District and the new Point Ruston complex.

We had a great time and really enjoyed Dave and Kathleen. We hope to return.

What a find!

  • 5 of 5

Charming, attentive, hospitable hosts. Our requests were all met, plus more. The first floor suite with kitchen, laundry, livingroom, dining room, 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths is as lovely as functional, and as beautiful inside as out in the extensive gardens. What a find! Convenient location to sights in Seattle, Tacoma, and day trips to Mr Ranier and surrounds; a quiet neighborhood. We hope to visit here again, and most certainly recommend to others!

Absolutely loved this place!!

  • 5 of 5

This truly felt like a home away from home. This is a charming, comfortable home with a beautiful yard. Kathleen has thought of everything guests might need for their stay. We were very appreciative of the breakfast items and coffee that she made available to us. The neighborhood is quiet, peaceful and perfect for early morning walks. A local farmer's market, great restaurants and shopping are just a short drive away in the Proctor area. We found ourselves wishing we could stay a bit longer just to enjoy this lovely home.

Great stay, great hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed out stay very much. It worked out perfect for us to meet up with our grandson who is in graduate school at Washington State. We based ourselves here

and had a nice visit with him as well as doing some sight seeing. Great location and our hosts, Dave & Kathleen, were wonderful. I was a little concerned about sharing the entrance but it was not a problem. Do not let that keep you from renting this place. It is as nice as the photos show.

Beautiful, charming cottage!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was so cute with great attention paid to every detail. We were in Tacoma for my son’s graduation & I broke my wrist on my first day. David & Kathleen went above & beyond to make certain our stay was as comfortable as possible. They even dropped us off at the graduation ceremony as walking was very uncomfortable. The location to the University of Puget Sound was ideal.

Beautiful gardens surround this clean and comfortable home. Well equipped with everything you need. Comfortable mattress and good quality linens. Owners very pleasant and non-intrusive though do share entrance to the home. Situated close to the University and within walking distance of restaurants, groceries and shopping district. We would definitely stay again if in the area.
