I have lived in Western Nc with my husband and daughters and now granddaughters for almost 30 years. My husband and I are in the field of Physical Therapy. We moved here from Charlotte to raise our children in this environment where as outdoor enthusiast we could hike, bike, kayak swim and basically take in all the beauty this area has to offer. We have never stopped exploring and loving it all. As the area has grown and changed it now offers amazing restaurants, music venues and each town close by has its on special uniqueness which we experience constantly as they are all a very short drive away including Asheville.
Jean White purchased this house in 2015
I picked this property because of the beautiful area and the fact that it is central to Brevard, Hendersonville And Asheville. It is located in the Little River region of Penrose which is just outside of Brevard.

With Asheville,Brevard and Hendersonville close by you can pick a day outdoors, shopping, eating in fine restaurants, hearing live music and just enjoying the beautiful mountains and mild weather.
Much better than staying at a hotel. Roomy and nicely decorated with Christmas lights and touches in living area. Wifi was excellent and large television was great. Lots of puzzles, games and even a toy basket. Beds were very nice and comfortable. Bedding was nice. We slept well. Good showers and a deep bath tub for the children. A few suggestions for the homeowner: a coat rack near the front door and some large coffee mugs in the kitchen would be nice. These were minor things of course. Heat was warm and toasty. Washer/dryer in large hallway bath was good. Nice stay in between Brevard and Hendersonville and Asheville.
House was in great shape, clean, no issues. We plan on staying there again.
We stayed here during our annual bike trip to the area. The house has great space to entertain and was VERY CLEAN and updated. The kitchen is sparsely stocked but I have the feeling it may be from previous bad renters, not from the owner.
TAKE EAR PLUGS for the neighbor's rooster, he likes 545 am.
The location is in the woods and within 15-20 min Brevard, 10 min Dupont trail heads, 30 min to Pisgah, 1hr Asheville.
The driveway is no problem for our Subarus (all five of them) and there were not any ruts. It does take 15-30 min + to get somewhere to eat so that was a downside since we chose to eat dinner out most nights.
We loved the privacy and rarely saw or heard the neighbors.
I did not pick that this was good for families with young children ONLY because of the spiral staircase to the master bedroom. It can be closed off from the rest of the house by a door and everything else is on the ground floor and almost completely handicapped accessible.
GREAT HOUSE, bring your buddies or your family and enjoy!
House was nice. Needs to have a landline phone put in in case of emergency. The cell reception was really bad. The beds were comfortable. The road just before the house can be a bit scary, we kept thinking we were going to get stuck. Loved seeing all the trees and even saw a deer out front one day.
My family and I had the most wonderful time at this vacation home. Upon first walking in everything was pristine. We were delighted to find the secret door in the back with the spiral staircase that led to the suite upstairs. My daughter had a wonderful time in the playroom. We had a wonderful time cooking. Furniture Decour very nice very different very non-mountain, our family enjoyed that part . The owner was absolutely wonderful she responded within hours she was very helpful I would recommend this house to anyone. Hendersonville, Brevard, Asheville, were all within 40 minutes away. We enjoyed the Stillwater brewery. We enjoyed the Biltmore . But most of all we enjoyed being up on the mountain away from everyone in a beautiful warm cozy house.
We had a wonderful time staying at this House located in the outskirts of Brevard .
The house had everything one needs and Jean was kind enough to check in on us during the heavy rains to ensure we were OK .
I would highly recommend this house
This lovely home backs up to DuPont recreational forest which offers cycling, horseback riding and hiking and swimming along with magnificent waterfalls. Pisgah Forest and the parkway are close by as well.
