Clean, quiet, private, great bed, great host, great location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for five nights. Rosa is lovely to interact with. The room is quiet and the bed is very comfortable. We had total privacy. Be sure to get instructions on the TV and air conditioner if you aren't tech savvy--it took us some effort to make it all work. Bookstore to one side and wine store to the other; great commercial street with the brand new Market Hall and also BareBurgers, to name a couple of eateries. Prospect Park and the farmers' market at Army Plaza just blocks away. We will stay here again.

Perfect little room in the heart of Park Slope

We really enjoyed our 3 day stay in Park Slope. Rosa greeted us and upon arrival and the room was perfect for our purposes. I can't wait to go back and stay there again.

A very pleasant stay

  • 5 of 5

The bedroom and bathroom were exactly as pictured. It was quiet and had privacy. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was modern. The walk in shower was appreciated as well as having plenty of towels available for our use.

Before we arrived we were concerned about the possibility of having to wait outside until Tammy met us with the keys. Happily this concern was unfounded as she was there to meet us immediately upon our arrival and she showed us where everything was in the unit such as light switches, extra towels etc. Thanks Tammy!

The only small issue we had was with the TV. It took some figuring out on how to operate it and to get the sound. Fortunately my husband is good with electronics and quickly got it working.

We would definitely be happy to stay here again.

The apartment was spotless and nicely decorated, very pleasant

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay and felt the apartment had everything we needed for two people. We stayed 3 or 4 nights, and appreciated the kitchen and the grocery store right across the street! This was my first time staying in Park Slope and it's a beautiful fun area with Prospect Park just a short walk away. Very enjoyable trip!

We rented a room in the building and the plumbing wasn't working so we were placed in an apartment instead. Upon arrival, there was someone there trying to fix the AC/Heater and they were unable to (but were in our room for about 30 minutes before we could settle in- I think this should have been fixed prior to us arriving). The water heater was so LOUD that every single morning at 5am it woke us up and the noise lasted about 30-40 minutes, so on vacation we didn't get the opportunity to sleep in at all. The room got about 100+ degrees every single night (during the winter time), which was so uncomfortable that we decided to leave the back door cracked to let cool air in so that we could fall asleep. The first morning Rosa (the owner) came banging on our door at 6-7am screaming at us because the third floor was hot due to the thermostat being in our unit and we had our back door open to cool our room off (we didn't know the entire building was based on our rooms temperture, and this should have been explained to us). When she initially came banging on our door the first morning, I opened the door to see what she needed and she pushed her way through walking right into the room where my girlfriend was in her pajamas laying down (extremely inappropriate) without even asking which was uncalled for and rude and could have been handled calmly and professionally. The next night we attempted to turn on the air conditioner before bed to help cool the room off, and the following day Rosa emailed us telling us we couldn't use the air conditioner. The knobs in the shower are labeled incorrectly so we waited for the shower to get warm the first day for 20 minutes before we realized that they were incorrectly labeled. The apartment was on the second floor next to a salon, so it's pretty loud during the day- also, there is a door in the kitchen that actually connects straight to the salon with no lock or anything; meaning that anyone in the salon could at anytime have full access to our apartment at any time which didn't seem right or secure. There was a patio deck that came with the apartment but caused an inconvenience to have Rosa come into our room constantly to water her plants on the patio. After 2 days, Rosa sent us another email stating that she noticed we left the tv on and 1 light and that we weren't allowed to leave any lights or tv's on while we weren't there or she'd charge us. This experience was horrific, dealing with a rude owner and AWFUL room.

Owner's Response: I have been with homeaway over a year and a half and I've had many guests, and many reviews all 4 and 5 stars reviews that makes me very proud. When Steve called to book the private room he had asked if they could bring their dog. I don't allow pets but because he said that it was a small dog and it was quite obvious that they cared very much for the dog that I decided to give it a try. I also thought that the dog would be going with them during the day. It turns out that the dog was in the apt 24 hrs a day.and that for the dog they had to leave on all of the lights, there are three Light bulbs in the bathroom four light bulbs in the kitchent, twelve ceiling lights in the bedroom. They would leave in the morning with every single light bulb on plus they would leave the TV and the air conditioner on for the dog, the thermostat is in the apt. And that caused a big problem because the heat was. Going up making it unbearable for the rest of the people in the bldg.I explained to Steve the situation but he answered that all of the lights had to be on because of the dog and so had the TV be on for the dog . He obviously did not care for the people in the building because he just kept egnoring everything I said and just kept doing the same thing every single day. Arrogant, selfish, inconsiderate person. Plus they would cook big breakfast and leave the sink piled with dishes glasses pots and pans . It was disgusting. Never had such terrible guests in my life. And he is such a layer because I never asked him to pay extra for the electricity when I really should have. Now I'm really grateful for all of my other guests. One more like Steve and I would give it up.
