Rent the Point on Mill Lake! 540' of panoramic lake front at the end of a peninsula that extends into the lake. An adorable cabin with numerous updates. Level Shoreline with great swimming and fishing. Good Walleye and Pan fishing with up to 11' of water clarity. Only 15 minutes to Alexandria and I94. Enjoy sunrises AND sunsets from your deck! There are two docks - one for swimming and one for tieing off your boat. This is a wonderful cabin for families with 2 bedrooms on the main floor with a ladder up to a loft where kids love to sleep -- and make forts! Currently it sleeps 7 in beds.
We grew up in North Dakota vacationing in the Alexandria area. We love everything about lake cabin life from swimming and boating to fishing and camp fires. We are the kind of people that blow up all of our "floaties" each spring to see which floating lounge chairs, air mattresses, and tubes need replacing! We do like winter activities in Minnesota but there is something so exciting about seeing the ice come off and the docks go in every Spring!
Michelle Bautz purchased this cabin in 2015
You might not even believe how unique this property is. It is located at the very point of a finger of land that extends out into Mill Lake. The cabin is almost right on top of the water...on 3 sides! There is great parking, even if you are bringing a boat trailer. There are two docks and even a boat lift if you want to bring your boat. The cabin faces the lake with a wall of windows and with a giant deck for watching sunrises and sunsets. Young kids literally go crazy for the lofted sleeping area. The interior of the cabin is finished with pine and has both a dining table and counter bar area with 4 stools.
Great place, very accommodating, Michelle was wonderful to work with. Comfy cabin with everything we needed and more. When she said just bring you food and clothes (she means it). Thanks Michelle for a needed relaxed weekend. I would share this place with others.
The owners have everything stocked and ready to go! There was even a bag of ice in the freezer, so thoughtful! We stayed for a week for our family vacation and loved it. Being on the peninsula gives a great private view. Neighbors were close but never saw them. Two docks, hammock, lawn games and a great fire pit! Thanks for the memories!
We spent a few days here with our daughters and their husbands while we were in the area for a wedding. The location is really lovely and private. The view from the kitchen, living area and deck has water on all sides and really was wonderful. The lawn area is large to accommodate activities. There is a great firepit with chairs and a large deck with plenty of seating. The lake is quiet. You hear loons, birds and some cows at times!
The loft as a 3rd bedroom has a low ceiling so is not ideal for adults, though it works. The cabin is well stocked for all your kitchen needs and the beds are comfortable. So nice to have a grill and wood for the fire! There is no AC from what we could tell, but there are fans. We had a wonderful visit and were lucky it cooled down for real comfort. The bedrooms are small, the cabin is old. But it is very clean and overall, was a good cabin experience.
Thank you to the owners for making this available to us. I do already miss the view!
Just finished a 10-day stay at this cabin. The cabin is very spacious, clean, fully furnished, and has all the extras you may need during your stay! The location on the point provides privacy along with catching the cool breezes on hot days from all directions. Our granddaughters loved playing in the water by the dock, as well as jumping off the pontoon in deeper areas of the lake. They enjoyed fishing off the dock with their "papa" and caught some small ones that made it super fun. I often saw fishing boats off the point, so it must be a good spot to catch some "keepers". We had campfires and lots of s'mores and good family time. The best way to wrap up the summer before getting back into "school mode" schedules. Thanks, Michelle!!
The moment we saw the cabin we knew we had picked the right place to have a lake vacation with the family. Everything was neat and tidy with so many extras we were just impressed. It was beyond perfect. Even though Mother Nature decided to be super windy and gave us a couple of days of rain, we had such a good time. The owner provided so many extras that we were never board. She left resources so we could find our way into and around Alexandria, with lists of restaurants and places to go to as well. We spent one morning looking around the town and ate out twice - once at a Chinese Buffet and breakfast at the Family Diner. Both experiences were great.
I give this place and the owner a 10 out of 10. No complaints, just the best of reviews. We are picking dates for next year to stay there again! The listing of the property and amenities was more than accurate. We received excellent directions on how to get there. I will recommend it to friends and family who are looking for a great place to spend with family and/or friends.
Thanks to the owners for making it possible for our vacation one of good memories and fun times!
What a charming place and location! This was an extended weekend with a couple girlfriends, and though the weather could have cooperated a little better, this place made up for everything. Everything was better than described, very clean, well stocked, with detailed instructions along with friendly communication with Michelle. The fire pit outside (WELL stocked with firewood) made for a most enjoyable evening of much laughter and amusing conversation. The place is very cozy with a great layout for entertaining.
Initially upon arrival, the area seemed much more residential than anticipated, but don't let that fool you. Being on the end of the "point" and the direction the home is situated, you felt like you were on your own little private island of sorts, being surrounded on three sides with water. This made for great sunset views and privacy.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Lots of great golf - Geneva Golf Club is our favorite
Check the Theater Le Homme Dieu schedule for a unique experience
The movie theater, bowling alley, and mall aren't unique but are fun
No trip to Alexandria is complete without seeing the Big Ole statue
And here's what the official Alexandria web site says:
Alexandria is located in the heart of lake country in West Central Minnesota and serves as the county seat of Douglas County. The city population is 13,045 within city limits, but the unique layout of over 300 lakes in the county makes the service area more like 35,000 people. It’s a perfect balance of size which offers quiet and quaint relaxation, while also possessing comfortable full services and all the best shopping, dining and overnight accommodations that you can imagine. While all the lakes and woods provide great outdoor opportunities, you can also find plenty of fun around many of our attractions. Alexandria has a thriving Downtown district, excellent trails, plenty of arts, museums, parks, wineries and a whiskey distillery. (from explorealexandria.com)
