Enter through antique wooden doors to the large private walled patio complete with a wood-burning fireplace, comfortable seating and fire pits for the cool Sonoita evenings. The 5100 square foot Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home is immediately welcoming and comfortable as you enter the main living area through the framed glass doors from the patio.
The elegant gourmet kitchen boasts a six-burner gas stove/oven complete with a grilling surface; two dishwashers; a trash compactor; a wine refrigerator; a Sub-Zero unit; a large center island for food preparation; and a comfortable breakfast table. The kitchen is well-stocked with stoneware, silverware, cookware and everything one needs for meal preparation.
The two first floor sitting rooms provide a quiet respite from a day of bird watching, hiking, exploring, bicycling, wine tasting or any of the other fine activities inherent to the Sonoita and Patagonia region. The TV room has a large flat screen television with DirectTV and the other sitting room has a pellet fireplace. The first floor also has two comfortable bedrooms (a queen bed in the first bedroom and two twins in the second bedroom) that share a private back patio and a view of the pastures beyond. The first floor has two private bathrooms as well.
The second floor, with spectacular 360 degree views, has four bedrooms. The master bedroom has his and her bathrooms, a king size bed and a business center with a desk, printer, and other items required for work away from home. The second bedroom on the second floor has a king size bed with a Jack and Jill bathroom connecting to a bedroom offering a queen bed. The final bedroom on the second floor has two twin beds and a built in desk. All beds have Casper mattresses, bamboo pillows, all-season down comforters and high thread count cotton sheets.
The home sleeps 12 very comfortably. Guests have access to the entire home, the front courtyard, the private small patio off the first floor bedrooms, the large fully enclosed patio off of the Arizona Room and the play yard for dogs.
The home has an over-sized Arizona Room with a southern exposure for reading, playing ping-pong, enjoying large family gatherings for meals, or for simply watching the birds that populate the enclosed patio below.
Doc Bar is also a horse retirement facility and guests can enjoy watching horses graze lazily in the nearby pastures.
We welcome service dogs and well-behaved, well-traveled dogs however dogs are to remain on the first floor and we limit the number of guest dogs to two. The property boasts native wildlife (hawks, deer, javalina, coyotes, jack-rabbits, etc.) as well as the domestic horses, thus it is important to keep dogs leashed at all times outside. There is a large tree-shaded dog yard fenced with five-inch square forty-inch tall fencing appropriate for supervised romping dogs.
There is a caretaker on property 24/7. There is ample parking in two covered carports. The kitchen is stocked with condiments and breakfast items with which to make a high-country breakfast on the first morning of your stay (fresh eggs, creamery butter, bread, jams, bacon, cheese and a selection of baked goods). Bathroom amenities are provided (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion, hair dryers and linens). If you require a particular item or accommodation, we will strive to provide what is requested with proper notice.
As we complete the decorating process in anticipation of opening on July 1, 2018, we will add photographs for your consideration. Healthy discounts for week-long and month-long stays are offered.
