Orlando girls trip a success
Great place to stay within 15-20 mins walking distance to Universal. Pool was awesome, even though it is shared with the neighbours. Would definitely recommend to others.
This was a perfect location for our Universal trip with our grandsons. The property was well cared for. We loved having use of the pool in the backyard. Being able to walk to Universo was a real plus. We would definitely book this property again.
Great for Universal Park visit
This property is *exactly* as advertised. It's an easy walk to the Universal entrance and our family of 8 were very comfortable visiting. David (host) was super easy to work with and extremely helpful.
The *only* thing I would want changed for future guests is for David to get a laminated card with instructions on how to get over to the park. Yes, all the reviews say you can walk and take the shuttle to the parks but on your first day when you have no idea how to get to the shuttle...some written directions would be helpful. (FYI, walk in the direction of the park down Universal Blvd and take your first left into Portofino Bay and follow the sidewalk on the left over to the water taxis. There is no charge to use them and nobody asks or checks to make sure you are a guest at Portofino Bay. Also knowing to walk up the stairs and around to the front of the Portofino Bay hotel to catch the shuttle to Volcano Bay would have also been useful knowledge).
The beds were *very* comfortable and the home was very clean and tidy. The pool was nice and clean, although we did not use it much because we were going full tilt at the parks. The internet was fast enough for our gamer teenagers to be happy and we could still do what we needed to while they were online. The remote lock through the August app was fantastic because our teen kids could come and go and we didn't have to herd them around all the time or pass around keys.
The home is not super spacious, but certainly big enough, and you can't beat the location. The neighborhood is nice and quiet--no obnoxious neighbors or loud parties or horrible people singing outside at night. Felt very safe to walk back and forth to the park at any time of day.
The few things we needed and contacted David about, we got addressed extremely quickly. I would certainly stay here again, and I think this home would be perfect for a group of friends, a larger family group like ours (we had 8--me, my husband, his 22 year old son and girlfriend, and a gaggle of 4 teenagers from 19 down to 13), or a small family as well. A family with 2-3 kids would have PLENTY of space. The pool is enclosed, and there is a small air hockey table which was also fun to use. There are a few games as well in the house (cards, Jenga) which were handy on a rainy morning.
Having stayed in Orlando on past family trips, I have to say this location / home have been the best experience yet for this value-conscious Mom by far!
Perfect location. Used the boat at Portofino to get to park. Made the trip more fun!
We really enjoyed it. Perfect location to everything.
Great location, basic property
Location really is about as good as you can get without staying at a much higher priced Universal property. Still a long walk to get to the park, but definitely walk-able. Had DH drop off the rest of the group several times and then he met us at park. House is very basic, and not all aspects were functional. Above counter lights in kitchen didn't work, floor in hall bathtub is unstable. Couldn't get toaster oven to work initially and couldn't find the blender but owner remedied both. Kitchen amenities are VERY basic. Plenty of plates and glasses, but no pizza cutter, no colander to strain pasta. Only one roll of paper towels and just barely enough toilet paper for our stay, which needed to be used as napkins and facial tissues as well. Pool is very small and shared with duplex neighbors, but usable for a quick dip to cool off. Kitchen table and sectional sofa were comfortable and great to have for family time, although I wouldn't suggest more than 8 for either. Neighborhood is a little sketchy but we didn't feel unsafe. Also very close to restaurants, gas, and grocery. Would recommend for families who are on a budget and like to spend time together in a common area.
The house is in a very safe, residential community, but designed to be a vacation rental. We are 0.7 miles walk from the front door of Universal Studios. Many guest just exit the subdivision, cross the street to the Portofino Bay hotel and take the free boat ride from the Portofino to Universal. The bathrooms have been completely rehabbed with brand new tubs and toilet.
Across the street from Universal and walking distance to restaurants and nightlife.
