I have lived in Grand Marais since 2000. I met Nancy in 2011, and we married in 2014. She is originally from Quebec, and works as a substitute teacher. I work as a carpenter in the summer, and own and operate Grand Marais Sled Dog Adventures in the winter.
Nancy Dumas purchased this house in 2015
Great location, and well maintained. You will feel right at home!
This home is a great property in the "coolest small town in America"! Hiking, canoeing, dogsledding, relaxing, skiing.....you name it, we probably have it! Only 1.5 blocks from beautiful Lake Superior!
We've just returned from a fabulous getaway in Grand Marais. The cabin was immaculate, very comfortable for our family of 6, cozy even in 10 below zero weather. The cottage is exactly as described, the winter view of Lake Superior is great. The location is perfect - an easy walk to the Gunflint Tavern, Java Moose, and all the other special spots in Grand Marais, plus an easy drive to downhill or X-C skiing. We hope to return next winter if not before.
This property is exceptional. It was so clean and equipped with everything that we needed. The dog sledding was also an amazing experience. I recommend the home and the dogsledding. Thank you Matt and Nancy.
The home was incredible and the location could not have been better. My wife and I stayed for an extended weekend with our dog and we could have not picked a better spot on the North Shore. The home is conveniently located near all of the best restaurants and shops, and best of all in the Fall you have a view of the harbor.
Glad that we picked this place for our trip into the Great White North. Grand Marais is an awesome town and the whole town is easily accessible from the location of this property. Property was very well kept and stocked and it didn't take but a moment to figure out anything in the whole house. Really makes you want to have a place like this all your own in a place like this. We brought our big English Mastiff and he had a great time with more than enough room to operate. The ping pong table was a great touch and we found ourselves playing that in our downtime. Thank you for the great place!
My sister and I recently returned from a wonderful eleven night stay at Grand Marais Getaway. We have been coming to Grand Marais and the area for many years and this is the best place ever! A wonderful location, great furnishings and amenities, very clean and well-designed, and nice, professional, responsive owners. There is a view and we were within walking distance of everything downtown, great restaurants, the water, and Artist's Point. It is a very relaxing place, great if there is a rainy day, and a welcome place for good rest after a day hiking or exploring. We had NO issues at all during our 11 day stay and recommend it highly. There is great parking, and easy access to outside with a large patio area which I appreciated being my two small dogs stayed also. We will be back!
We are within walking distance to all of Grand Marais. It is a short drive to many great hikes, skiing, dogsledding, and other Northwoods adventures!
