Our cozy cabin experience is a blend of comfort and country-living - a great spot for a getaway, to enjoy a refreshing swim, canoe, kayak, read, listen to music, relax, reflect, walk through the adjoining 79-acre Xmas tree farm, luxuriate in the hammock ...
The chance to get away from it all, without having to "rough it", is offered by our small cabin, built in 2002, with pine from Michelle & Chris Bruhm's Mill - just down the Cornwall Road.
Our property is about 3 1/2 acres, with 350 feet of water-frontage. The south-west exposure provides gorgeous sunsets to enjoy from the decks, dock or the hammock.
Our cabin has one main room, with futon, table, chairs, and kitchenette. The small bedroom with lake-view, has a comfortable queen-size bed. The 3-piece bathroom, includes a shower, and heated tile floor. All rooms have their own electric heat, and both the main room and the bedroom have large ceiling fans.
The kitchen has a coffee maker, kettle, microwave, toaster, toaster-oven, fridge, two-burner portable cooking range, and new Cuisinart 5-in-1 Griddler. There is no dishwasher, full stove/oven, or laundry.
The propane BBQ was new last season, and has a side burner, making outdoor cooking more convenient. Also available are a Weber charcoal BBQ and an outdoor propane burner, with pot and utensils for corn/lobster boils.
A supply of teas, coffee, milk, sugar, basic condiments and a few goodies will greet your arrival. Alert - you're in the country! The nearest stores are a 20 minute drive away in New Germany, Barss Corner or Mahone Bay. If you prefer to eat out, there are dozens of choices - but once again, it's a 20-30 minute drive! We'll provide you with a list of our favourites.
Extra bedding is available, so the double futon can accommodate children, but the cottage is really not appropriate for four adults.
There's a Sony stereo, some music, books and games for your indoor enjoyment. There's also a SONY Bluetooth Dream Machine, so you can enjoy your own digital music collection.
Free WiFi is now provided by a new Skyroam Solis 4G hotspot, which we've just purchased for the cottage. Up to 5 devices may be connected at the same time. We also have a Guest Network, connected to our own router. Some times it's better than the Solis; sometimes not. It's good to have both.
While new to this platform, our listing has been active on another, where we have over 20 reviews and are rated 5 stars. A recent guest-book entry is included with our photos.
Many of our guests have commented on the warm, clear swimming which can be enjoyed at Church Lake. We have a 15-foot canoe and a small kayak plus an assortment of life jackets for your water enjoyment. We also have Tether Ball plus Bocce and Croquet sets available.
Last year, we purchased a Coleman screen house (11 ft x 11 ft) which will provide refuge on days when you'd like to be outside, but the mosquitos happen to be particularly "friendly"! Some guests like to have it right on the front deck, as shown in our primary photo, but it can also be erected on the front lawn.
There's a large deck off the cabin, and another lakeside deck which contains a new, propane campfire pit. This is an easy, safer alternative to our old traditional fire pit.
Last year, off the campfire deck, we constructed a new cedar dock - for the privacy and exclusive use of our guests. And if we're travelling, you're certainly welcome to use our old dock, too. It's a few hundred feet further along the lake path, and there are plenty of deck chairs at both locations.
The cottage keys will be in a lock box, and you'll have the combination well in advance of your arrival. We will also email you a copy of our Guest Binder, together with internet hyperlinks for our favourite restaurants and local services/attractions.
Our philosophy is to respect your privacy, so you'll be able to enjoy our property. If we're on-site, we like to introduce ourselves and welcome our guests - and then we "make ourselves scarce". But please know - if you need something, there's help. If we happen to be travelling during your visit, our property managers, Kathy and Janet will be available to assist you, as needed. You'll have their cell phone numbers in advance, and they're also in the guest binder.
By the way, Kathy's husband, Tim, offers an array of adventure, fishing and hiking tours, which may be of interest to you. You'll have their website address before you arrive, in case you'd like to contact him.
