It was very great. Thank you for your nice home chalets. We hope we come back again. Matthias & Carolin, Weisenheim am Berg, Germany
Quaint chalet, well equipped, clean and central for tourism spots. The owner met us on site and explained the chalet layout, very helpful and was always on the end of the phone if you needed them. Well located and great directions to the chalet.
An ideal home from home to stay in whilst seeing the sights in the area. The chalet was just what we were looking for, well equiped, quiet but not too far from the main road. Our host sent us a text letting us know about local events which was smashing. Seeing the dolphins on the last day ended a fabulous break on a real high. Yvonne and Jimmy
Wonderful chalets, got everything you need. Its like your second home quite place.Lovely people and amazing country.Recomend highly.
We arrived having booked last minute. The photos made us think this was what we wanted and boy were we not disappointed. The chalets are just off the main road enough to be peaceful. The chalets themselves are beautiful. Perfect for two people and a dog, and thanks to Lynda and Charlie the owners everything you could need is right there for you. A home from home with views to die for. The bed was remarkably comfortable and that's coming from someone with a bad back!! It was cozy on a cooler evening, and don't be pit off by the metre for the electric. We had the fire and the heater on in the bedroom, plus the water heater everyday and we spent under £10. Lynda and Charlie are wonderful hosts. They're not on site but pop in to check everything is ok but aren't intrusive but are full of knowledge of the area and are always happy to help. We are hoping to get back again next year to revisit some places and check out the ones we missed. But for sure we will not be looking for anywhere else to stay. We've found our home from home. Thanks again Lynda and Charlie you made our week perfect.
Second time we've stayed here and it is so handy for touring around the area being so close to the A9. The chalet was spotless and the gardens so tidy. Weather was a bit mixed, but we came for the scenery not the weather! Lynda and her husband are very friendly and are always ready to give their local knowledge on the area. We visited Isle of Skye - it is only about 2 hours in the car and the scenery is out of this world and well worth the day trip! We went to see the dolphins nearby at Rosemarkie and we were rewarded with some excellent photos. There's lots to do and see in this area and so we will definitely be back here again. Thank you for making us welcome! Donnie & Rose
Had an excellent 5 day short break at these chalets. First time I’ve stayed here but have been to many lodges and these are the first ones that have a washing machine and drier in them which is great, especially when you have a wet dog after a long rainy walk! The lodge was very well equipped and very clean indeed. There is a large forest nearby within walking distance of the chalets so that was handy for taking Petra, my jack Russell to tire her out every evening. There was also a book of local walks in the chalet – visit The Dog Falls at Glen Affric for fantastic scenery.
The owners met me on arrival and were very helpful and showed me how everything in the chalet works, also giving me local knowledge on restaurants, shops, etc. Will definitely return again! Thank you Linda & Charley for a great break!
Enjoy the spectacular scenery and wildlife of the area including Red Kite and Buzzard (which can be seen flying overhead almost daily from the chalets), and Bottlenose Dolphins at nearby Chanonry Point can be viewed from the shore.
There are many good quality golf courses, including Castle Stuart, Royal Dornoch, Nairn Golf Club and Fortrose & Rosemarkie, all within a short driving distance of Kilcoy Chalets. Fishing, cycling, walking, horse riding are all available nearby. Nairn beach is not too far off for a brisk stroll in the fresh-air! Visit Glen Affric - just one of the beautiful glens in the area. And, Inverness, capital of the Highlands, is only 10 minutes drive from the chalets.
Picturesque Loch Ness with romantic Urqhart Castle overlooking the loch is only a half-hour drive from Kilcoy - experience the visitors centre telling the tales of long ago and the histroy of the area, and whilst you are there perhaps you will catch a glimpse of our famous and elusive 'Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster'! (Do take your camera and binoculars for there is plenty of wildlife to see). There are many other castles and historic buildings in the area, and Culloden Battlefield (the last battle fought in Britain) also has an excellent visitors centre. And, of course, don't forget that you can sample the delights of the Highlands' many famous whisky distilleries on the Scotch Whisky Trail. Of course, our own 'local' distillery, Ord Distillery, has a visitors centre and shop where they will make you feel more than welcome with a taster of the local whiskies on offer!
Why not visit the Isle of Skye for the day - the scenery on the road to Skye through Glen Shiel will take you through the most spectacular countryside with the Five Sisters of Kintail majestically rising above you - a fabulous day trip!
Fort George, Ardersier is open all year. Built following the Battle of Culloden, it is one of the most outstanding artillery fortifications in Europe - a must to visit!
For those more energetic visitors, the mountains and glens are not too far from your doorstep. And for the anglers amongst you, there's an abundance of good fishing nearby.
