In Umbria, on the quiet slopes of historic Monte Corona, and within easy reach of the bustling market town of Umbertide, Casa Capella is set in an idyllic position next to a tiny chapel in a scattered rural hamlet with views over the Upper Tiber Valley. Enjoy a relaxing self-catering villa holiday in this delightfully furnished self-contained family home that accommodates 6 in comfort but is equally suitable for a couple not taking the top floor. A spacious traditional 3 storey rustic country house restored with modern amenities, Casa Capella retains its earlier character, with oak beamed terracotta ceilings, cool interior and brick floors. Outside, the charming level garden offers options for sun and shade. Over from the house, the romantic hillside garden, with its terrace, table and seats nestling under the trees, offers views through a young olive grove to the dramatic hillside beyond. Approached through leafy woodland up a winding road, access is off a lane with minimal traffic.
Casa Capella is a family home, complete with its idiosyncrasies. The retention of much of its original rustic construction and layout contributes to its character. At ground floor, a spacious living and dining room, subdivided by a wide archway, opens onto the garden. The dining end, with its wood-burning stove, gives onto a separate well equipped country kitchen, with its gas cooker with oven, a double sink, large fridge, and washing machine. The kitchen has a small table suitable for breakfast and a back door giving onto the garden. There is sufficient crockery, cutlery, glass and cooking utensils for eight. The living and dining room has an eight foot pine table, rustic upright chairs and high chair; and the sitting area, focusing on a working fireplace, has a two sofas, an armchair, floor cushion, and a coffee table.
Up by the original staircase to the first floor, where a large studio, with day bed (and on request a cot) gives onto a bedroom with double bed, and to a fully equipped bathroom, with shower, bidet, wc & basin. Studio and bedroom both have french doors and balconies, sheltered from the heat of the day and offering views of the surrounding countryside. The access to first and second floors is through the studio.
The second floor has a large room, with king size double bed and single bed, with extensive views; and another twin bedded room, smaller but quite adequate for a couple sharing. The second bathroom, has its own bath with shower attachment, bidet, w.c. and washbasin.
The house is well suited to couples just taking the ground and 1st floors, for which reduced rates are available. In this event the top floor will remain unoccupied for the duration of your stay.
Our neighbours are all Italian, friendly and respectful of privacy. The house itself is back to back with another. The chapel may occasionally be used by a few of the locals for a Mass.
