About the property

This tastefully restored town house is located on a quiet pedestrian lane on the border of the historical centre of Tavira, often known as the 'Jewel of the Algarve'. A perfect base for a peaceful holiday, with no need to drive as all amenities are within 5 - 10 minutes walk.

Catch the beach boat from the river Gilao downstream to the beautiful islands in front of Tavira. Enjoy the 12km stretch of white sand beach, observe the traditional fishing and farming in and around Tavira, catch some wonderful sunsets over the rolling hills surrounding Tavira and home to many 'timeless' villages. Sample the freshness of good native ingredients in the many restaurants around Tavira, dining 'al fresco' in the many sidewalk cafes and restaurants that invite us to take time out to observe the lifestyles and movements of people out and about town.

Comprising a kitchen with dining and living room, 3 bedrooms, one ensuite, annexed from the other two bedrooms and bathroom, but accessed through the same private courtyard, this house offers ample space for couples and families.

A beautifully structured wooden roof over the rooms also supplies shade to part of the courtyard area while other parts remain great sunspots. An ideal location for families with small children as the courtyard is secure and child friendly. Pets are also welcome, there will be a small charge for them.

The kitchen is also modern with all appliances and comforts one might need on holiday.

Beach towels are provided and we have three bicycles you are welcome to use!

There is a cot and high chair provided. Please let us know if you have any other requirements.

This is a semi detached property with a few neighbours further up the lane and not at all overlooked.

The lane is cobbled and pedestrianised. Accessed some meters away from parking and tarmac roads.

As a town property this remains a quiet area

Ashtrays are provided for smoking outside the property.

The Ria Formosa Nature Reserve is a paradise for walkers and birdwatchers alike. For people who prefer a little more strenuous exercise there is also a local kitesurfing school, horse riding, tennis and many mountain bike trails. Boats leave the pier for deep-sea fishing all along the Algarve Coast.

An excellent commuter train service connects all the coastal towns of the Algarve with a frequency of 1 train per hour during the day and connects Tavira with the twice daily Faro-Lisbon express. The Spanish border is 20 minutes away, while Seville is 90 minutes drive or a little longer by the twice daily express bus.

Tavira is an ideal town for family holidays, the town itself is a charming mix of old and new – Roman, Moorish and Portuguese features abound. There are many restaurants and fish is a specialty. Inexpensive restaurants, bars and cafes abound in Tavira and the surrounding villages. From June through September, there is an abundance of street entertainment in the form of concerts, street theatre, markets, fairs and processions.

Nous avons adoré la ville et la maison. Très bien avec le patio. Nous nous sommes bien reposé et pris des forces pour une année. La maison peut être pour 6 et très bien pour nous 4. Calme, propre et bien pensé. Les lits sont très bien. Nous avons été accueilli chaleureusement par une dame qui a pris du temps pour tout expliquer. Vraiment aucun soucis à recommander pour mes amis et ma famille. Juste un petit mot pour les locataires suivants sans gravité et pour améliorer si besoin : le barbecue était cassé mais possible de faire des grillades seulement pas possible de nettoyer. La fermeture du placard de la poubelle est à revoir. Merci à toute l'équipe et sûrement à l'année prochaine. Cordialement.

Arrivals are flexible, though we aim to keep bookings as close as possible. Departure is by 10am and arrival is from 2pm unless otherwise arranged. We provide a once weekly linen and bathroom towel change including a clean of the bathrooms. There will be some toilet paper and soap for arrivals and a hamper of beverages, with additional breakfast and snacks are provided for late arrivals. Guests will be met at the villa, or otherwise informed where to locate the key and visited soon after arrival. We ensure a prompt and competent service from the owners, who can be contacted at anytime.

Great for outdoor but no so good for indoor!

The courtyard is fantastic and the refurbishment of this property is very well done. But the three separate areas don't work quite so well. Also, it could do with proper heating as the two small hot air blowers were ok but not sufficient during March when it was cold at night time. Good value for money but not sure we'd stay again.

A lovely property with privacy, space and style

The property is set around a courtyard which leads off a pedestrian street, so it is a lovely peaceful location. The rooms are great, and the quality of the finish is too. 5/7 minutes walk from the property to the centre of town, train station and supermarket. Maybe 15 mins to the beach ferry. We found the property a lovely retreat in the middle of the day. The only downside was the midges - take insect repellent!!

2 of the bedrooms share a spacious hall and shower room. The other has its own front door. May sound odd but he courtyard setting really works - just make sure you ask for all 3 rooms to be opened.

Situada en una pequeña calle muy tranquila...cercana a la estacion de autobuses de Tavira.

Por supuesto recomendable para quien tenga previsto visitar Tavira...!!!

Fantastisk hus med dejlig privat solrig gård

Vi havde en fantastisk ferie i Tavira i dette hus. Huset er bygget op omkring gården som et samlingspunkt for familien. Huset var rent og rart at komme til. Der var en udførlig velkomstmappe fra ejerne af huset med information om huset og bygen generelt.

Vores eneste kritik er, at der mangler komfortable stole at sidde i, og så ville vi gerne på forhånd ville have vidst at huset ligger på en lille brostenssti, som ikke er let tilgængelig med klapvogn. Vi rejste med to små børn, og fandt afstanden til floden lidt for lang for os, men det vil ikke være et problem med større børn (vores er hhv. 7 mdr. og 2.5 år). Hvis vi vender tilbage til Tavira om nogle år, kunne vi sagtens finde på at leje dette hus igen, da den lukkede solrige gård gav os trygge rammer for vores børn og bare var rigtig hyggelig!
