Classic Sailing Clubhouse Converted to Private Apartments--Spinnaker

Overview

About the property

Two bedroom apartment has private beach and abundant character!

The most authentic Flathead Lake experience is your's for the taking. The Clubhouse offers lawn down to the lake and unbeatable views of Wildhorse Island at affordable rates. Located in the original clubhouse for the Dayton Yatch Harbor, each villa is drenched in the atmosphere of laid-back summer sailing . Clean and comfortable, each unit can be rented separately or combine them for a larger gathering of friends and family. (See VRBO listing #620512 for additional information.)

The Spinnaker has two bedrooms and will sleep up to 4 adults plus 2-3 children. The bedrooms each have one double bed and room for small people either in the rooms or in the living area on couches, cots or cribs. The kitchen is fully equipped and opens to a great private balcony with a gas grill.

Boats can be launched just a block away at the public dock, and moored on bouy just off the shore in one of the safest bays on the lake. Wildhorse Island is just minutes away by powerboat... or a short paddle in a kayak will get you to this fabulous State Park for a walk among the wild horses, bighorn sheep, and eagles.

Close off-water activities include touring the local winery and breweries, visiting one of the numerous weekly farmer's markets or special events, an evening out to one of the local playhouses, and, of course, a trip to Glacier National Park. But be sure to leave some time in your schedule for "just hangin'".... sipping beverages while the kids swim, reading that great novel, BBQ'ing... Are you getting the picture?

About Denise

Jim is a legend among the sailing community in the Northwest. He's owned and operated the Dayton Yatch Harbor for twenty plus years, always with passion for accommodating seasoned sailors as well as introducing newbies to the sport.

But alas, travel and grandkids began to rival his passion... You'll certainly still see him around Dayton, but mostly he's taking the time to relax a bit more these days.

On that note... this property is managed by Old Sun Properties.

Great location but in disrepair

  • 3 of 5

Great location, but accommodations are in disrepair and not particularly clean. Windows need screens and better curtains, one bed was bouncey and squeaky, low water pressure in the bathroom, and screen door kept falling off.

Owner and property manager were friendly and helpful, but it was too little too late for our stay.

Food, Fun, and Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

On Flathead Lake, the Dayton Club House apartments are an excellent choice if you want all of the comforts of home right on the lake. We used both apartments for our family. One couple with their 4-year-old used the studio and the other 2 bedrooms were very comfy for 2 other couples. Very nice view of the marina and sailboats for our freshly brewed coffee each morning as we watched the sea plane landing near Cromwell Island. We baked a huge FRESH cherry cobbler for 30 people in one of the ovens and served it warm to some happy family! We launched 4 kayaks for our paddle to the family reunion across the cove. A spectacular evening thunderstorm surrounded us from the 360 view of the lake and mountains. The clanging of the sailboats’ rigging was like a beautiful wind chime on the breeze coming through the windows at night. The park is across the street with swings and a slide for the kids. Jim was there to greet us for a personal tour of the old bank building. This was a very memorable stay and we look forward to staying in this rustic historic building again next time we are in Dayton, Montana.

The village of Dayton is the real deal in authentic Montana villages. Groceries and other amenities are a short drive away in either Polson or Kalispell. And daytrips to Glacier National Park are a must. But be sure to plan to have a few days of just hanging out on the lake in your agenda too.
