My wife and I stayed 7 days and didn't want to come home. The views were wonderful as was the apartment. Everything we needed, and gracious hosts as well. We visited the Dillard House for lunch, shopped in Franklin and Sylva, and spent time just sightseeing and relaxing. The perfect cure from a stress filled year.
We were looking for rest and relaxation with an expansive view and this property delivered! We spent our entire first day gazing at the scenery and listening to the breeze and birds as we drifted in and out of sleep outside on the chaise lounge chairs. When we did venture off property we were not gone long. We didn't want to miss the sunsets!! Our hosts were a delight and we are grateful to have met them. We were well taken care of and had all the privacy we wanted. The apartment has high ceilings and an open concept floor plan. The one issue we had our first night was quickly resolved and measures put in place to prevent in the future. We are glad we stayed. In return we were blessed with a place to rejuvenate and panoramic views of our favorite Blue Ridge Mountains. Thank you for sharing your home with us we look forward to visiting again.
I wanted to get away and enjoy My Birthday. I wanted peace and quiet. Well did I get it. The only sounds I heard were the sounds of nature. This is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or if you just want to be alone. The owners are absolutely fantastic and very hospitable. The unit is very clean, bring your groceries because you are not going to want to leave. They have provided everything you need to cook. It is absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to return.
This was a really nice place. Great owners. Very hospitable. It is very remote, very quiet. If that's what you want, it's got it all. If you want to cook, I've never seen a kitchen better equipped. Most places have a skillet and a sauce pan. This has every size and shape. It's extremely well equipped. Would love to see a grill though. We would definitely go back!
The owners know that the photos are not effective in revealing the views from the great room and deck. We have never had a better stay anywhere. The quietness and beauty of this hilltop home is impossible to describe. We are excited about finding Hurrah Ridge and going back. The owners are now friends that we will always want to know what is going on in their world and on top of their HILL. Bring enough food and drinks for you stay because you will not want to leave. The peak of the fall colors were like unbelievable or unreal. Our photos do not include the awe. We wonder what is the best time to visit Hurrah Ridge? We know the NEXT time will be the best time.
My wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here. It was the most relaxing three days/nights we have had since our honeymoon. The view of the mountains is exactly what you see from the living room. The hosts are incredibly friendly and hospitable. My wife and I formed an instant bond with them and, although they were always great about letting us have our privacy, we felt as if we were staying with friends rather than strangers.
It is about a 15-20 minute, beautiful drive, to the heart of downtown highlands. On the way to highlands, you pass a half dozen trails and overlooks (obviously no shortage of nature). For those days you want to stay in, wi-fi and cable television (with every channel you want, including HBO) are readily available. We spent our actual anniversary fifteen feet from our front door, drinking wine, and eating goods from the highlands market, on a blanket that overlooked miles of mountains. Simply incredible.
1) If you have a truck/suv or higher sitting vehicle, use it. If you have a sedan/car (as we did), it is not a deal breaker at all (we will be returning and most likely drive the same sedan)
2) Buy or bring some groceries to cook with- kitchen has everything you would need (pots, pans, glasses (wine, regular, cocktail), ice, coffee maker, toaster, oven, microwave, knives....literally everything)
3) Make dinner and spa reservations well in advance (especially spa- fills up super fast)
4) No need to bring towels, pillows, or blankets- they got you covered
5) This trip is super easy from Atlanta, takes a couple hours with no headaches
6) They have a King Bed (super comfy)

Reason for increase of rates for Winter is the increase use of propane and electricity for heating cooking and lights. Next summer there will be an increase of just ten dollars for cost of maintenance. Thank you for understanding.
