Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Bude - Church Cottage, Jacobstow

3 bedroom cottage sleeps 5 ideally located to easily access North Cornwall coast

A traditonal whitewashed cottage in the charming Cornish village of Jacobstow, 3 miles from the sea, Church Cottage is a 'home from home' with a comfortable, cosy and peaceful feel. It is decorated in simple style and is also well-equipped with modern amenities. There is is an attractive garden with a peaceful decking area overlooking a small stream.

The cottage has 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedded room, with the option of a fold up camp bed to make a sixth bed if required.

The cottage has easy access to the main North Cornwall A39, the 'Atlantic Highway', and is in an area with plenty of local attractions.

The cottage is in a small village next to the church and stream. It dates from at least the 15th century. It retains the charm of a traditional cornish cottage with low ceilings, beams, flagstones and fireplaces but has been tastefully modernised including a new well-equipped kitchen and bathroom and three cosy and comfortable bedrooms. Facilities include flat panel Digital TV, DVD player, WiFi Internet access, quality hi-fi and a well-equipped kitchen including Rayburn. There are two garden areas. The excellent local pub is 1 mile up the road and that same village also has two local stores. More extensive shopping facilities are available at nearby Bude, Camelford, Launceston and Wadebridge.

The cottage is reached via quiet country lanes but with very easy access to the main artery roads into and through Cornwall. The majestic coastline of North Cornwall is only a few minutes away - Crackington Haven 3 miles, Boscastle 6, Tintagel 8, Bude 8, Port Isaac 14.

There are several excellent sandy beaches in this area offering surfing and other watersports and there are some spectacular cliff walks. Other cornish attractions such as Padstow, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are within a comfortable drive. Would be a great choice for a holiday for families or a group of friends.

beautiful cottage in a quiet little village

  • 4 of 5

this is a very picturesque cottage upgraded and furnished to a good standard. the kitchen features a modern hob and oven, and a good fridge and freezer. There is a dishwasher and washing machine, although we tended to use the sink to wash up in general. The only thing lacking was a washing line in the garden (although there are two good clothes horses in the cottage).

The cottage is well placed for visits to launceston, bude, crackington haven or widemouth bay - widemouth bay is the better beach for 'traditional' days at the beach, although much more expensive for parking!

all in all, a lovely place for a relaxed holiday.

Lovely cottage, ideally situated

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is a great place to stay if you're exploring north Cornwall. The location is very convenient, being only 10-15 minutes drive to Bude, Camelford and Boscastle, and the village of Jacobstow itself is quiet and sedate, which is great when you want to relax. Facilities wise, church cottage has everything you could need and is decorated, furnished and presented to a high standard. We would definitely stay again and have no qualms in recommending church cottage to anybody.

Lovely stay at Church Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Church Cottage was just what we wanted for our brief holiday in North Cornwall, a tranquil space where we felt entirely at home. A cup of tea on the garden deck was a great start to the day and the cottage was lovely to come back to after a day out visiting area sights (Tintagel, Padstow) or hiking the coast path. The furnishings were all very comfortable and there was nothing we felt we needed that wasn't provided. I would definitely recommend this cottage for anyone looking for restorative holiday in a beautiful part of the country.

Comfy cosy cottage in a beautiful village

  • 4 of 5

Firstly, for a quaint 3 bed cottage in a gorgeous village but close to beaches and attractions this was excellent value for money. It was clean, well equipped for our stay with really comfy beds. Nice shower but the tank struggled to cope with 4 showers in a morning but once we realised we split them and it it was fine. You need to take your own bathroom towels. The stairs are very steep but my 80 year old mum managed them! Shame we just missed being able to use the open fire or have the aga on but the other heating was ample. Pretty garden and lovely walks nearby. Great base for exploring North Cornwall. Wifi great as no phone signal. Finally - if you're over 5'5" remember to "duck" or take a tin hat as a couple of the doors are a little low - but the Cornish beer takes the pain away!
