First off, the cabin is absolutely gorgeous and in a great location. It's literally a few minutes walk from the beach, and the deck overlooking the sea provides some spectacular views.
Plenty of amenities were provided, so feel free to go all out planning your meals. The owners have you covered with any kind of appliance you may need.
We were shocked at how well insulated the cabin was! Our friends outside couldn't hear us talking inside, which alleviated our noise concerns.
The beds were extremely comfortable and numerous! I think everyone in our party could have slept in a different bed every night!
We had a great trip, and would definitely come back to Cancoon in the future!!
I haven't been down to Grand Isle in a number of years and this camp rejuvenated my love for the island. If you are planning a family gathering down south, this is the place to stay!
This camp is the place u want to be!! It's has everything u need to have a great time, you name it they have. You couldnt ask for anymore. Any trip to grand isle we will be at this camp. They have some much character. There's to many good thing to say about this place!!! Don't miss out on a lifetime memory!!!
Julia, Thanks for the camp in Grand Isle, my family and friends had a great time. All went well and the camp was awesome. A fun experience and a great atmosphere with lots of room for all. Hope it is still available for rent the next time we vacation in Grand isle. Thanks a bunch.
We brought a group of 19, including children, teenagers, adults and seniors, to Cancoon. We were looking for a large camp that could comfortably accommodate all of us, and we found it. If you are looking for a modern, fancy camp, this is not for you. If you are looking for a nice, comfy family getaway, I would recommend Cancoon. We had easy access to the beach, so several were fishing the surf while the kids swam. We were minutes away from the grocery store, which meant we used the large kitchen often. We were also twenty minutes away from our fishing charter, where we limited out on red snapper. We had a problem with the main breaker, but when we reported it to the owner, she had it repaired before we completed our fishing charter. Two showers for 19 was a little tight, but we were able to work through it, and not have it negatively impact our stay. The teens enjoyed the large covered decks, and they spent most of their time relaxing and enjoying the view. The sunset was amazing to see. The property is well maintained and very well managed. The owners are quick to respond when needed, and their customer service is personal and friendly. Overall, we had a blast and several in our party are already planning a return trip.
We did a 2 night stay at the Autin's camp Cancoon. If you're looking for a fancy beach condo style place, then Cancoon is not for you. However, if you're looking for what is obviously a beach side family fishing camp, with lots of room to sprawl out, etc... then Cancoon is for you. The place struck me with a "Flora-bama" feel to it, and you could tell that the Autin family has had many, many memories forged there. The camp was open ceiling, which gave it a large feel. AC in the place worked well, we had to turn it down after awhile as you could've hung meat in the place. Although not one of the newest camps on the island, the place was very well kept and clean. Great kitchen, and an even more impressive table where you could seat god knows how many people. The outside boasted a couple of outside decks, from which you could view 360 degrees of the island and gulf. Had a nice fish cleaning area, that I used both nights we were there. We lucked up and caught the specs biting in the surf and caught close to 2 limits of trout during our stay. Great access to the beach....we hauled our wagon over the levee and set-up base camp on the beach in 15 minutes.
Simply said, great place to stay, we will very likely be back. My only regret for our trip was that we didn't do a little more pre-planning.....as we should have stayed at least 2 more nights and brought some more people.
Great place, you cannot go wrong! TAB
