The one loft bedroom cottage offers a full kitchen and bath, a front porch with rocking chairs, an outside patio with table and chairs -all overlooking a well landscaped yard close to a salt water marsh. Ocean breezes and the setting sun set the stage for fun and relaxing evenings on the patio or porch.

The cottage offers a king size bed upstairs, and a queen size fold out sofabed in the living area. Trundles in the loft are available for two little folks, if needed. So four adults and up to two small children can be accommodated. Cable TV, WiFi and a washer and dryer on premises.

Additionally, Port Royal's Sands Beach and boat launching site is less than four miles away and the ocean beach at Hunting Island State Park is 17 miles away. Shopping and restaurants are available in Port Royal as well as downtown Beaufort. And a walk or dining at Beaufort's Waterfront Park is always special. Beaufort and Port Royal have numerous celebrations and festivals throughout the year the most famous of which is Beaufort's Water Festival which lasts for 10 days in mid-July. Activities of the Water Festival are too numerous to list but they include a spectacular parade, a talent show, water events and musical performances.

Whatever your reason for coming to Coastal Carolina, there is always a great deal to see and do. History abounds here and excellent museums, old forts, and daily tours celebrate this area's rich history. COME AND ENJOY!

Wonderful getaway for a small family

  • 4 of 5

Very nice, very clean. Beautiful yard and nice neighborhood with a large kid's playground 3-4 doors down. Great location and the owner is close if you have any questions. Left a basket of good information on the best places to eat, things to do, etc. Ms. Jean was also very accommodating and allowed us to slip our dates a couple days when our 2 yr old got a stomach bug prior to the trip. Great trip!

Owner's Response: I was so happy that a cancellation allowed this family to visit once their son was over his illness. There was no doubt that they enjoyed the beach, the waterfront park and all the local attractions. When visitors express their appreciation for Hemsen's Haven and the local area - emphasize how much they have enjoyed their stay here - it spurs me on. As long as Hemsen's Haven is in business - we will continue to maintain our high standards so that families such as this can enjoy their time together. Thank you for your kind review and please come back. We look forward to seeing you again!

A Hidden Gem

We spent a few days here for a Marine Corps boot camp graduation. This place was beautiful. Peaceful and quiet , but close to everything and minutes from Parris Island. Thanks again Jean for everything, hope to see you again.

We enjoyed our stay! It was a peaceful, relaxing and pleasant place! The house was perfect!

Owner's Response: As our long term rentals (14 days or more) have increased, we have had fewer families coming for Marine Corps graduations at Parris Island. This family came for their daughter's graduation - and we were so happy to have them. Thank you for your kind review - and Best Wishes to your daughter and her Marine Corps career!

I was very pleased during my recent stay with my family while visiting my son who is stationed at PI. The location is central to many places of interest rich with history. Convenience to my son was top priority, but the proximity to so many other amenities and points of interest made the location of the cottage a wonderful place to stay.

The owner is very accommodating and respectful. The southern charm she displays is an example of how the community treats each other and visitors as well.

I look forward to visiting soon and would feel right at home in this sweet little haven of happiness.

Owner's Response: I am an early morning person and I am often surprised to see visitors - with their coffee -sitting in the rockers on Hemsen's Haven porch when I go out for my morning newspaper. Mornings are usually spectacular here - as are our sunsets over the marsh. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and took the time to comment. Thanks so much!

The house was perfect for our needs. It is very clean and about 7 minutes from The MCRD gate.

We highly recommend this property. Jean was very pleasant and hospitable. We were pleasantly surprised to come home after family day and find the local newspaper in the door that had our Marine's name on it from the Graduation. Again, we highly recommend this property and know you will enjoy your stay.

Owner's Response: Although Hurricane Matthew hit our area very hard, we are returning to normal. We lost some limbs and at least one entire tree so are working extra hard on the landscaping this fall. We have also recently updated the bedding, added a few more decorative touches and continue to keep the cottage sparking clean for our visitors. Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to comment. We were blessed that although homes were damaged all around us, we did well through the storm and continue to be blessed by our visitors!
