Why Scott H. Thompson chose Lake Claire
It was a huge project, but i wanted the land because of gardening/chickens/bees potential, which, you'll see, worked out great!
What makes this House unique
It's really INtown. Not out in the burbs. Funky neighborhood is kinda Austin wierd, that's a good thing. Late check-ins are never a problem since we'll assign you a door code, and you don't need to meet for your 'key". We really want to maintain our flexible policy on check-in and check-out times. I will do everything I can to accommodate your times. I've got to check with others to make sure it works... Early check-in and late checkout depend on both your requests and the preceding/ following guests', then me negotiating something reasonable. If the night before you is not booked (and we won't know until that afternoon!) we'd normally be happy for you to check-in at 8am... If you want to check out at 5pm and no one is coming that night, no problem!! We'll see as we get closer. But, we do have a space where you can store bags. Otherwise, here is what the HOUSE MANUAL (in your Itinerary) will say-- Check-in will be anytime after 3 pm and Check-out will be anytime before 11am UNLESS YOU REQUEST flexibility with some notice. FULL DISCLOSURE -- this is my urban working farmlet, so from time to time there will be beehive frames for repair in the yard, or mushroom logs to innoculate on the porch, or wheelbarrows or implements of gardening strewn about. The inside pictures are exactly "as is". Promise. My farm does not extend to your very clean, orderly, tidy apartment
It's all about keeping it civilized!
Not anywhere inside, not near doors or windows
$15 per pet, per stay
I have a pack and play, need 24 hours notice.
Pets totally Ok, within reason. We have blankets to cover furniture/bedding. If your pet is a couch surfer you must use them.
The HOUSE MANUAL (in our email string) includes ALL of the House Rules. Please review and Download/Print PRIOR TO ARRIVAL
Check-in after 3, check-out anytime before 11 unless we arrange otherwise ahead of time.
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date. 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
Cozy and Comfortable
We loved every bit of our stay in the 1918 House. Scott is a fantastic and responsive host. Like seriously the best host we've encountered to date, and we've had some great ones. The apartment was cozy and well appointed. My husband and I and our twin teenagers stayed there for a weekend and found it 100% comfortable for the four of us. The apartment was well stocked with everything we needed. We loved the game selection, too! And my word, the honey from Scott's beehives was out of this world delicious. We really enjoyed all the nearby restaurants and shopping and the great vibe of the Lake Claire area, too. Great experience all the way around. Thanks!
Anyone who's visited a Southern grandmother will feel at home in this space. Large front porch with some friendly clutter; coded door (safety!); the stairway and upper landing have the scent of an old house, but that doesn't carry over into the apt. Lots of books on shelves on the landing, with a variety of genres and reading levels; lots of children's games in the apt. The apt has the original glass or metal doorknobs, hardwood floors, plaster walls; there are numerous windows throughout. While small-ish, the apt is laid out with three distinct living spaces, which gives a sense of spaciousness. Tons of closet and drawer space; large bathroom with (I think) original tile. Immaculate, good quality linens and many pillows. Well-appointed kitchen. Quiet and peaceful at night.
Communication with the manager was perfect! He was very accommodating with some changes I requested and always answered emails promptly. He's not kidding about the parking space! I had already decided to Lyft to and from Egleston (where my son was having surgery - now enjoying a healthy recovery), but even if I hadn't the challenging parking maneuvering would have made the decision for me. :)
The only thing I didn't give five stars on was accuracy: while yes there is air conditioning as stated, it's only one small window unit in the bedroom. The only way to spread that cool air to the rest of the apt is to keep the bedroom door open and aim the small (provided) fan towards the other rooms. If staying with a group, this would create privacy issues. There are ceiling fans in each room, but Georgia summer was more than a match for them. As it was just me staying there, and only briefly in evenings and mornings, I wasn't bothered by it - and I would definitely stay here again! However I do think that to maintain accuracy (and to increase comfort) the owner might consider installing at least one more window unit.
Overall this was a lovely, peaceful, inviting, charming respite for me to come home to from the stresses of being at the hospital all day. I was grateful every time I arrived there in the evenings. I highly recommend this property and by extension other properties with the same manager.
So great to find a pet friendly listing so close to a lot of things! This apartment is pretty large for the price. Also, a GREAT bathtub!
Cute! Safe! Clean!
Great communication with property owner. Easy to get to off of I-75. Quiet street, darling old home, super clean. Felt very safe staying here with my teenaged son for orientation at Georgia Tech. Approx 15-20 minute drive to campus, easy. Plenty of room in the unit.
Walking distance to GREAT restaurants
We drove up for a weekend get away. Great location for everything that we wanted to do.
No air conditioning
No working air conditioning
??? I'm not sure what this means. It was then and still is working. Previous folks were fine, following folks were fine. These folks did not alert us to any problems.
