About Bob and Fran Saddler

My wife and I have been married for 64 years. We used to go and spend about 2 days a week on the river. We all know time changes things, we have more rental property and live about 30 miles away and we haven't stayed there but a few times in the last year.

Bob and Fran Saddler purchased this house in 2000

Why Bob and Fran Saddler chose Blue Ridge Highlands

This was the Price farm along the river it was in run down and vacated for some time when we bought it. We had it remodel and updated. There is 39 acres in behind the house but not very useful for anything but hunting. There is a road running in front of the house we have about 300 ft. of river frontage. We would consider any offer on the place.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for letting us rent your home. We really enjoyed having the river nearby. Family time was very special. Thanks for being such friendly host.

Great get-away

  • 5 of 5

There were 6 of us guys from Erie, PA who came down for the Bristol NASCAR Race. The house was very nice and had plenty of room, and actually could have slept one more. It was a great secluded location and met all our needs. Although we did have terrible rain and the river flooded (locals say if seldom floods as much as it did this weekend) we had plenty to do and enjoyed our time there very much. Bob, the owner, was in contact with us throughout our trip to make sure we had everything we needed. The 1st day we were there the river was beautiful and offered plenty of entertainment if we wanted to take advantage of it, including the 2 kayaks the owner supplied. We will definately stay here again.

Great River Get-away!

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend this rental! The owners were wonderful to work with and the home was very clean and beautiful, inside and out! There are many rooms, beds and amenities that make this a very pleasurable stay.

If you are looking for a weekend getaway or a week long retreat, you cannot go wrong here. Lovely home by the river!!!

Riverfront Home

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much. Couple of small issues that were related to the previous renters. Loved the access to the kayaks and the hosts were awesome. One suggestion would be to have a couple additional items in the kitchen (knives, casserole dish, frying pan). Would definitely stay again.

Serene setting across from the river

  • 3 of 5

Plenty of rooms, puzzles and games galore, water and ice provided.

Nice owner was very kind. It is very close to the Barter Theatre which is the reason we came to Abingdon.

Great Location - plenty of space!

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here to go check out The Channels - great hike. The house has loads of room, and is in a great location. We enjoyed paddling up and down the river the next day. If you do have allergies, bring your meds. Once we aired out the house and wiped down a bunch of stuff, it was fine. Probably needs a good clean out. We would stay again.

Was a great place to stay for my family.

  • 4 of 5

We found this property as we needed a pace to stay during race weekend, but also move in weekend for my daughter at King Unveristy. So the home is slightly dated, and the water wasn't what we'd prefer, BUT, the home was clean, had everything we needed, even some bottled water. linens provided-huge plus and also clean, plenty of sleeping room, kayaks and canoes - lots of fun for the family boys while the girls helped with move in duties, the Sadlers even helped them launch up river to enjoy a long float back to the house. Good fishing, and we heard it wasn't even the best time to go. The mountain air and beautiful view from the deck was great while just enjoying some down time. Will definitely stay here again. Thank you Mr & Mrs Sadler!
