Thank you for letting us rent your home. We really enjoyed having the river nearby. Family time was very special. Thanks for being such friendly host.
We found this property as we needed a pace to stay during race weekend, but also move in weekend for my daughter at King Unveristy. So the home is slightly dated, and the water wasn't what we'd prefer, BUT, the home was clean, had everything we needed, even some bottled water. linens provided-huge plus and also clean, plenty of sleeping room, kayaks and canoes - lots of fun for the family boys while the girls helped with move in duties, the Sadlers even helped them launch up river to enjoy a long float back to the house. Good fishing, and we heard it wasn't even the best time to go. The mountain air and beautiful view from the deck was great while just enjoying some down time. Will definitely stay here again. Thank you Mr & Mrs Sadler!
We spent evenings on the side deck and made great memories in town. Having 6 bedrooms was nice. Having water provided was nice as the water smelled like sulfur. The decor was very dated (as pictures indicate.) Those with allergies may need meds.
A nice clean and well maintained property that provided a wonderful vacation for me and my wife. The location is in an ideal spot for those who are looking for the best of two worlds....just 10 minutes from Abingdon (shops and restaurants) and 20 minutes from Damascus (hiking trails). We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings with a cup of coffee watching the many species of birds, and the deer that showed up at about 9:00 am every morning. We had no problems with the wasps as mentioned in a previous post.
There was a bit of a musty smell when we first moved in, but that can be expected being that close to a river and after a day of running central air conditioning, the odor very quickly dissipated. The source of potable water is from a well that has a strong sulfur content which took a little getting used to, but Bob and Fran graciously supplied us with plenty of bottled water for drinking and coffee.
Very nice house! It had all the amenities to make it feel like home. My kids really loved that we were right there on the river & they could kayak up & down it! It was also a very peaceful area to stay in. I would definitely recommend it to others looking for a nice mountain getaway!
Rustic charm galore. Tons of space and amazing river views. Kayaks and canoes were made available for a closer look at the river. We chose to enjoy the spacious deck! Loved working with the Sadlers. They made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back!!
Bob was awesome. Easy to work with and super accommodating to all of our needs. Its close to a bunch of lovely hiking trails and the views outside are just lovely. Would highly recommend for anyone that needs a nice getaway.
