Lyman is located at the base of Thousand Lake Mountain 3 miles east of Loa the largest town in Wayne County where you can find places to eat, a grocery store, gas stations, national forest office and other stores. It is also 13 miles from Torrey, where you will find bars, restaurants, and other events that go on through the summer. If you want to experience the surrounding area, Lyman is a great central location. It is about 23 minutes to Capitol Reef National Park and 25 minutes to Fish Lake. There are also many hiking and atv trails in the surrounding mountains. Lyman is within an hour drive to numerous fishing and hunting opportunities. For example, there is world class fishing and hunting on the Boulder, Fish Lake, and Thousand Lake mountains. If you are willing to drive a little farther you can do day trips to Lake Powell, Goblin Valley State Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Staircase National Monument, Canyon lands National Park, and the San Rafael Swell.
I grew up in Lyman, just up the street from me and Tammi's vacation rental. After I finished college me and the family move back to Wayne County and lived there for 9 years. We would love to still be living there, but we had to move to Whiterocks Utah for work related reasons. I love the area surrounding Lyman, because there is so many unique areas to see that it is hard to decide what to do.
Erin VanDyke purchased this cabin in 2010
Our family had an amazing experience here! Deifinitely a Christmas to remember. The owners were very cordial and helpful with all the questions that I had! Even after getting settled in they call just to make sure we had everything we needed! The cabin it's self was amazing! More than enough room for everyone to enjoy themselves! The main room with the Decorated tree and fire place made for a Normal Rockwell feeling on Christmas morning! We will definitely make plans to come back! Simply amazing!
We loved staying in this cute cabin! The location was convenient (right on the highway between Loa and Bicknell). The cabin was very clean and comfortable with plenty of bedrooms for everyone in our family. We enjoyed the large great room for gathering together at the end of the day after hunting, hiking, and playing. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen items we needed. When I had questions or needed to communicate with our host, Erin Van Dyke, response time was very fast and always pleasant. We all loved the welcome basket of Grandmas' Sweet Treats! It was quickly devoured. The only complaint we had was from those who slept on the lower level. They said it was too warm at night. We adjusted the thermostat slightly, but I think the basement level just stays warmer than the upstairs for some reason. We love visiting Wayne County and are happy that we didn't have to stay in a hotel using several bedrooms to house our entire family. The price is right and the home is lovely and comfortable. We would love to stay there again in the future. Thanks to Erin and her entire family and crew for providing such a wonderful place for families to stay!
We loved this cozy cabin for our family get together!! It was warm and cozy and we had the most amazing time spending time together!! I would recommend this cabin. Has everything you need!! We got caught up in a snow storm and ended up having to cook dinner and got everything we need from the nearby store. They cabin was fully equipped with everything you need!! Many from for each couple and children!! It was very perfect for us!! It is in driving distance from almost everything!! We enjoyed ourselves to the end!! Come and have fun with your family!! We will definitely do this again!!
The house was clean and cozy. The beds and couches are comfortable, overall a great place to stay. We will be back!!
Had a wonderful time with our family. Made lots of fun memories. Cabin is about 30 minutes from Capitol Reef Natl Park. We love exploring and hiking in this less crowded park. Cabin is 3 miles from Loa with the cheapest gas in the area, Food Town groceries, and Family Dollar. There were treats, fresh fruit, and fresh jam from the fruit trees in the yard set out on the cupboard when we arrived. The cabin was very clean and was a great place for our family to relax in after each day of hiking in the park. Thanks for sharing your place with us.
This home was perfect for our family vacation. It is large, well equipped, clean and conveniently located close to Capitol Reef park. We all enjoyed the homemade treats and jams which the host so kindly had waiting for us when we arrived. We had fun using the fire pit on a starry night. We would stay here again.
Lyman is a small town. It is a great place to relax and escape. You will have to travel to the surrounding communities to find restaurants and other services. Lyman has a public park and church. At the park you will find basketball courts, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, baseball field, child playground, and large open grass lawn for what ever else you want to do. Some local restaurants I would recommend is the Country Cafe in Loa, it serves breakfast all day and is a great place for a burger and homemade pie. The Sunglow in Bicknell is also another great place; it is a family style restaurant with specialty pies, such as pickle, pinto, lemon custard, oatmeal, and other favorites. Torrey is a great place with numerous restaurants, evening programs, book stores, gift shops, art studios, farmers market, bar, and outdoor gear rental.
