I am a native to Baker City. I teach art at our local High School. I used to own a catering business so I designed the kitchen for my cooking needs. I love traveling and the outdoors, making Baker City a wonderful place to live.
KRISTEN ANDERSON purchased this condo in 2007
My husband and I needed to move to the country for he owns a business in agriculture. We love our condo and all the conveniences it brings so we figured the best option would be to offer it to others to enjoy. I thoroughly enjoyed the lifestyle of biking to my destinations and being able to be close to the action. This property features a beautiful, unique, convenient and comfortable experience for those visiting.
I fell in love with the renovated space for its tall ceilings, grand windows and open floor plan. I designed the entire home, put in costume cherry wood cabinets, oak wood floors, tiled the bathroom, exposed the brick walls and built a balcony for outdoor living and BBQ s. Finishing touches are top notch, and heating and AC unit provide all around comfort.
Two couples stayed for 3 nights over new years as we were skiing at Anthony Lakes. We did not want to simply get hotel rooms as we wanted a central place to socialize for breakfast and drinks. The condo has been exceptionally renovated, and the renovation preserved original character of the building but added modern features. The kitchen is amazing and well stocked with all you need to cook and eat. The dinner ware was in great condition and new...this is not a mismatched set of thrift store dinner ware. Every morning we made locally roasted coffee (which was kindly provided) and cooked a big breakfast before heading out to ski. After a day of skiing, it was nice to come back to such a cozy space. A few things for those considering the condo... It is a one (1) bedroom condo. However, the pullout couch in the living room is on the other side of the kitchen and is sort of a private area. We were all on the same schedule, so it wasn't an issue to have folks on the pullout because were were getting up about the same time. There are two bathrooms, one in the bedroom and one off the kitchen. So you can match the bathroom to the guests. There are three (3) doors to unlock and one set of keys. Thus, you'll need to consider keys and schedule if you are with a group and splitting up.
Overall, this place was great for the four of us as we were all doing the same stuff on the same schedule. The cost per couple was very reasonable considering what an awesome kitchen we had for breakfast and dinner. Baker City is a nice little town, and if skiing Anthony Lakes, I think staying in Baker is preferable to La Grande. Kristen was very prompt with responses, answered all questions, and kindly left us some ski passes.
We enjoyed our stay in this 2nd floor unit with ample kitchen space and two large baths. Loved the large concrete kitchen island while sitting on the old barber chairs. Adequate for our family of four using the sofa bed. You can't miss the yummy bakery across the street, open on Sunday.
We came in town for a softball tournament. Not wanting to stay in one of the hotels we opted for this little hidden gem. It is walking distance to all the great little shops and restaurants downtown. The AC worked great as it was really hot during the day. Ceiling fans throughout kept the areas nice and cool! The owner was very responsive with any questions I had and even dropped off a new DVD player when the one hooked up would not work. I loved cooking in the kitchen. It was well equipped for any meal I wanted to make. Be aware there is no WiFi or cable but that was okay with us. The condo was a nice retreat for our family just to relax after a long day of being at the fields.
This one of a kind condo is newly remodeled and in a beautiful, brick, historic building right down town. Enjoy BBQing, people watching, sunsets, sunrises on the balcony off the main family room. Great dinners in a state of the art kitchen with a 9 foot island and gas cooking stove. Lots of seating for reading a book, watching a movie, playing games, or talking with friends. All downtown attractions are minutes away on foot and the second level assures privacy and great views.
