Have you ever gone away only to find the accommodation isn't what it looked like in photos? Rooms in the photos looked bigger and brighter than they actually are and the big fluffy towels folded nicely in the photos were replaced with ones that have seen better days?
Set among the stunning scenery that the North East of Scotland offers, you'll find that Garden Cottage matches the photos, the rooms are light and bright and the towels really are big and fluffy. There's no hidden extras and we even provide "the little things" such as washing powder, dishwasher tablets and extra binbags. We also provide logs if you'd like to light the wood burner.
An hours drive from Aberdeen, 5 miles from the village of New Pitsligo, 8 from the market town of Turriff (Gaelic for Place of Round Hills) and a very short drive to the beautiful beaches and hidden coves around this area, Garden Cottage lies within the grounds of our family run farm in the most lovely, yet private and quiet, setting.
Set well away from any noise (but close enough to be on the main A98 Fraserburgh to Inverness road in under a minute!) means you'll enjoy a truly tranquil destination where you can relax and recharge yet jump in the car ready to explore in minutes.
The recent installation of a bio mass boiler means this detached cottage is wonderfully warm 24/7 and offers you a home-away-from-home holiday rental you'll not want to leave.
With all rooms overlooking the garden and Graded 4* by Visit Scotland, Garden Cottage welcomes returning guests year after year, has neutral colours throughout, is double glazed, very cosy and extremely well equipped with everything you need. It's all on the one level allowing access to everyone.
Offering total privacy, Garden Cottage has a private entrance, with large parking area for several cars, as well as a sheltered garden with a large lawn which is super for ball games.
Set among mature chestnuts trees you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast or barbeque on the patio, which is in full sun for most of the day, overlooking the large (fenced) pond and lovely garden.
The centrally heated cottage has a large (27ft x 18ft) open plan kitchen/dining/living area with a wood burning stove and the kitchen is very well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, fridge, electric cooker and coffee machine as well as a good selection of cooking utensils etc. The utility room, just off the kitchen, has a washing machine, dryer, iron & ironing board and a freezer.
The lounge/dining area has 2 leather sofas with a matching footstool and a bucket chair, coffee table, side table, large dining table with 6 chairs, a flat screen Freeview TV, small stereo and there's lots of books & cd's. Doors from the living area lead onto the patio.
There are two bedrooms: one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. There's lots of room for your clothes as both bedrooms have a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables. There is also a z-bed & airbed which are suitable for young children.
The cottage has an en-suite shower room in the double bedroom and there is a bathroom next to the twin room. This bathroom has a shower over the bath.
We put in a welcome basket and there's tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper etc in the pantry.
Linen, towels and electricity are all INCLUDED in the price and free wifi is available in the cottage.
Garden Cottage is just a couple of miles from the small villages of New Pitsligo, Cumminestown and Strichen. Turriff, where you will find the larger supermarkets such as Tesco, Costcutter and The Co-Op, is a short 15 minute drive. Turriff also offers a very good selection of coffee shops, restaurants, butchers, local independent shops and hairdressers.
Garden Cottage is well situated for visiting the nearby fishing villages and beautiful beaches - some of which are award winning. The Castle and Whisky Trails are within easy reach and there are several excellent golf courses within a very short drive. Fishing and shooting locations are also nearby.
For eating out in the area, Turriff and Banff have excellent restaurants, the small fishing village of Pennan, where you'll find a cosy little pub, is a short drive away. A little further along the coastal route there are lovely little cafes and pubs in McDuff, Portsoy, Gardenstown, Whitehills and Cullen.
We are very Pet Friendly, and welcome well behaved dogs, but you MUST let us know at time of booking if any pets are accompanying you. Also, we do our very best to keep your costs down by not charging a pet fee, or ask for a cleaning deposit. In return we ask that you respect our house request to allow dogs within the kitchen/living area only.
Guests are welcome to arrive anytime after 4pm, and to allow us to get ready for our next guests we ask that you vacate by 10am.
