About Vacasa, MA - Cape Cod Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Unimpressed about accommodations

  • 2 of 5

Have never stayed some place where we had to monitor the position of the toilet knob per custodian instructions.

Spartan furnishings are of the "Flea Market" variety. There are no means of hanging towels or any clothing in the unit other than a maintenance closet in the living room. The only dresser in the unit was filled with old sheets and a couple spare towels.

The rental has the appearance of being in the middle of a renovation, but the past reviews and older photos depict what is currently in place. Unfortunately, this leads us to believe there is no further reno plans. Examples - bare light bulbs for ceiling fixtures, old dirty entry doors with no secure locks, toilet on a platform (issue if you're short), jimmied plywood ceiling in shower, very few electrical plugs in unit, wiring stapled to the kitchen ceiling, rusty old metal sink/kitchen storage unit, dirty and/or unuseable pans dishes, and a great deal of unfinished carpentry throughout.

The location is fantastic, and has a great deal of potential. - hense the 2 stars. If the owner were to complete the renovations, it will make a great rental unit. Based on current conditions, we could not justify the cost nor recommend this rental.

One other note... there are some heavy smokers in the adjoining units and the stentch of cigarette smoke does become overwhelming in the rental unit. You'll need a lot of Fabreeze and have to keep the windows open to keep the stench down.

Good location with a few challenges

  • 3 of 5

I have stayed in Wellfleet several times, and I was happy to come back. The moment we arrived we were told by the very assertive neighbors the rules of the house and where to park. The upstairs tenants live in the building (i.e., are not on holiday) and were worried we would disturb their sleep. The apartment was clearly renovated in a hurry. There was a serious lack of sound-proofing in the ceiling, especially in the living room; I could hear every word the people upstairs said. In the bedroom we slept well and did not hear much sound. They did not have air conditioning but it was not too hot and they provided box fans.

The house was clean, but missing basic amenities. There was not a single hook in the bathroom to hang a towel, leaving us to drape wet towels on chairs and other surfaces. The kitchen was very makeshift and we did not cook a single meal. We made coffee and used the very large refrigerator. Someone creative needs to add what is missing, fix the bad renovation, and the place will be much improved for future renters.

In terms of the functionality of the house, we were under the impression that we had WiFi and that was not available. No router name or password was provided.

Our biggest challenge was that when we wanted access to the beach, the town did not recognize the house to give us a beach pass. They needed the name of the owner. I called Vacasa to get this information and was told that information could not be released. Luckily, I did my own investigation and discovered the name. Otherwise, our trip to Cape Cod would have excluded the beaches, which is one of the main attractions of the trip!

We enjoyed staying in town and being so close to everything. The house needs little touches (and maybe a few pieces of art!) to receive more stars.

Quiet and Convenient Location in Wellfleet!

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely first floor apartment with cute nautical themed decor and exposed ceiling beams. The small kitchen has all that you need to cook, but you need to bring your own oil or butter and seasonings! Also, there is a lack of paper products, so bring paper towels and napkins and some extra toilet paper if you're staying a while.

P-town is just a 20 minute drive away and there's a couple great beaches near this house.

The only con is that there is a smoker that lives upstairs or next door and the bathroom smells like cigarettes occasionally. Overall, this is a great location and comfortable house, and I'd totally stay here again.

Needs improvement

  • 3 of 5

PROS: location. Walkable to a Welfleet center and beach. Sunny window in kitchen with pedestrians walking by frequently and a glimpse of a nice view beyond the neighbor's house across the street. Bed was reasonably comfortable but no nice clean pillows or headboard.

CONS: Smelled of smoke. No coat hangers. Only 1 small bureau with sheets and towels in it. No towel racks. No place to put your stuff in bathroom. No place to put even a bar of soap in the shower. No real kitchen with a counter, more of a makeshift kitchen with a microwave on a living room side table. No dishwasher. No dish rack. No where to cut or prep food. Table cloth stained and dirty. Furniture was yard sale quality. Walls felt bare and could use some art and mirrors. Could use some nice drapes. Toilet lever has a tendency to stick and keep the water running. Other people live in this house and you don't get a feeling of privacy. Cars are packed tightly in the back. Lots of cars go by on this street and you can see headlights at night from the bed.

SUMMARY: Would not return but so many of these issues could be fixed easily. If the apartment was decorated nicer and had shelves, hangers and racks to put your stuff, and if the smoke smell was removed, this would have been a more positive review.

Totally awesome! Super mellow!

Maybe it's because I've lived in Brooklyn too long, but the place felt huge! Totally close to everything! There's a magic bullet! (And when is that ever going to happen again?) Just stay here, it's totally worth it! And eat a cod sandwich at Mac's every day!
