It was awesome

The house was great and at a great price. We got more than we expected. It really made our vacation very enjoyable, it felt like a home away from ours. I would recommend this place, we sure are planning to come back. There were no issues the owners were very nice and accessible.

Fabulous house in a convenient location

  • 5 of 5

This is a nicely re-done and very well maintained house that was perfect for my wife and I and our two young kids. Owners were great to work with. Location is very convenient to everything in Sarasota and beyond at a cost that's a lot less than staying on the beach. Siesta Key is only a 15 minute drive and that's where we spent a lot of time. If the crowd at the main large beach access there isn't your thing try one of the first beach access points you come to when coming in from the north. In addition to the beach we also enjoyed Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, which is very close by, and Myakka River State Park, where you can see what Florida used to look like before it was so developed.

Peaceful Refuge, Returning Guest

  • 5 of 5

My air conditioner went out VERY late on a Friday night. THANKFULLY I had stayed here before, so that same night I contacted the Owner who responded within 2 hours. It was a tremendous relief to know I wouldn't have to pay a nightly hotel room bill, for a tiny room & no where near the amenities of this Immaculately Kept Vacation Home. When we arrived the house smelled like a breath of fresh air, I could tell it had been professionally cleaned. Spent the week in luxury, able to plug into the Wifi with my work VOIP phone enabling me not to miss a beat with my job. My 4 legged friend and I enjoyed the tranquility of the back yard (he had lots of fun chasing Squirrels) and we had daily walks in the neighborhood Park. I did a lot of "take out" for meals because there were so many nice options close by. I highly recommend the home made pie ala mode at Yoders !

Our family had a great time here on Arlington street. The house had everything we needed. Loved grilling in the back yard.

House was nice. Owner did not refund deposit for several unknown reasons. She accused us of clogging the toilets because she saw the plunger outside. She stated the plunger had fecal on it. We did not use the plunger, our 1 1/2 year old was very interested in it so we put it outside so he would not touch it. Told us there was fecal matter on the bath rugs, we don't live amongst fecal matter in our house or anyone's house. My wife was very offended by this. I'm sure there was dirt on the rugs which washing would take care of the soiled mats. We will be returning to the area but will not rent anything under her name. I should have known she was not 100% into managing this property(she manages it for her Aunt) because she called me before we left for our trip to inform me that I had not paid the 2nd half of the money. I had to send her the confirmations I received for both payments.

Pet Friendly Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Park Paradise, take a deep breath of the pine trees and breeze and your heart beat drops to RELAX mode. The result of this relaxation is that the very next morning I jumped out of bed, walked the dog 30 minutes, played in the dog park 15 minutes, biked for 30 minutes than paddle boarded off Bay Front Park for 3 hours. Coming home was a welcome rejuvenation to : rest, play, eat repeat! What a fun treat this home is. I've already re-booked it.

The last two times I went to Sarasota, I stayed at my sister's home. This time I rented a house from *Vacation Rental by Owner Online Service* or *VRBO*. I had heard about the site from my sister, and thought I'd try them.

One of the main reasons I was looking at renting a house over staying at her home is that there would be me and my dog. Most hotels don't allow dogs and I wanted to have the full comforts of home. Since my sister lives in Arlington Park, I was only 4 minutes walking distance from her.

The other reason was that with a house, I would have **full kitchen access** allowing me to cook my own meals. This is great for me because I have didn't want to keep a schedule. Add in the advantage of not eating out every breakfast, lunch and dinner and it was a great option for me. Park Paradise has a shaded outdoor eating area I enjoyed my morning coffee: to wake up and watch my dog play.

I was pleased to see that not only were there many choices available in the Sarasota area but there were plenty of homes. They offer a one-night rate as well as weekly rates. Some of the places have a 5-night minimum, others a 7 night like Park Paradise.

The beautiful back yard and close access to the Arlington Park and Downtown amenities was the 'closer'. I checked for availability and dropped a note to the owners. They also list the owner's phone if you prefer to call. I wanted to check on the price - to get a final price after taxes. I received a prompt reply.

I then contacted the owner again to arranged payment: which included a $300 refundable deposit. She then sent me an email with the property address, the code to get the key and the directions. A quick stop at map quest and I was set!

Siesta Key Beach

Siesta Key Beach! Welcome to the Siesta Key! -- Located on the pristine shores of the Gulf of Mexico, across the bay from mainland Sarasota, Siesta Key is the perfect destination for a holiday, a season, or a lifetime. Whether and, whether you’re visiting for a week, planning to relocate, or a long-time resident of our beautiful barrier island, here are a couple of helpful things to know. Siesta Key has miles of "the world's finest, whitest sand™", so you’ll want to make time to relax on our world-class beaches, but that’s not all we have to offer. There is parasailing, kayaking, jet skiing, fishing charters, sailing, motorcycles, and Segways. Restaurants ranging from fine dining to casual eateries where flip flops and a cover up are all you’ll need and, it wouldn’t be the Gulf Coast without some great seafood restaurants in all price ranges. Captain Curt's Crab & Oyster Barat 1200 Old Stickney Point Road & Village Cafe 5133 Ocean Blvd. are my personal top 2 favorite on Siesta. Whether novice or expert, there are numerous paddleboarding opportunities in Sarasota County. Paddleboarding in Sarasota County is really fun. This leisure activity is a great way to exercise and see Sarasota County’s beautiful coast. It makes sense that a waterfront community with a tropical climate like Sarasota County would adopt the Hawaii-inspired paddleboarding with such gusto. There is no shortage of companies ready to introduce locals and visitors to the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota Bay by board. But because a new paddleboard can cost upwards of $1,500, renting is one of the most popular options.

Sarasota Paddleboard Company hosts light-emitting diode (LED) illuminated underwater tours in the Bay and Gulf, which leave before sunset and last two hours.

Siesta Key Paddleboards provides mobile, free equipment delivery, as well as complimentary instruction. This company hosts a Vamo Mangroves Tour of the passages and canals in Little Sarasota Bay, which is teeming with birds, fish, manatees and dolphins. There is a Parade of Homes Tour on the Gulf of Mexico, and a Vamo Road to Midnight Pass Tour across the Bay and through the mangrove canals to a quiet, secluded stretch of Siesta Beach. With all of the water sports and activities close at hand, no matter where you stay in Sarasota you won't need to do the same thing twice.Bird and alligator watching, hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking are but a handful of the activities in which Sarasota campers have the opportunity to indulge throughout the year when they escape into the woods of the area's numerous camping destinations.

The Myakka River State Park is one of the area's most popular camping destinations with a range of options from palm log cabin-lodgings (complete with full kitchens and beds) to large campsites equipped with electricity, water and picnic areas to primitive campsites located deep in the woods, where campers hike for miles to access complete solitude and a chance to experience Florida wildlife in its natural setting.

Oscar Scherer State Park is another popular camping site, located on the banks of Lake Osprey in south Sarasota County. With 15 miles of trails and a blackwater stream that empties directly into the Gulf of Mexico, it is a popular location for hikers and bikers, canoeists, kayakers and both saltwater and freshwater fishers alike.Take a Nature Tour

Perhaps disappearing into the wilderness for days at a time is a daunting commitment or simply doesn't fit into your vacation schedule—in which case, nature tours are an excellent way to take in all the best that the area's wildlife has to offer in one day or less.

Sarasota Bay Explorers at Mote Aquarium offer an array of eco-tour adventures that make a day on the water fun as well as educational. From guided kayak and nature safaris to daytime eco-cruises aboard the private charter, Miss Explorer, and 40-foot pontoon boats, the Explorer I and IV, Sarasota Bay Explorers brings adventurers up close and personal with marine life such as dolphins, sea horses, puffer fish and manatees and provides opportunities for bird watching, snorkeling, shark teeth collecting and more. Get wet and wild on your next eco-adventure with Sarasota Bay Explorers.

Around the Bend Nature Tours, based in Sarasota's neighbor to the north, Bradenton, offer eco-heritage tours that not only highlight the unique geography and natural inhabitants of Florida's Gulf Coast, but also a look at the history and culture of the area. A team of professionally certified naturalists guides expeditions into the wilderness that feature bird-watching, educational catch-and-release net fishing and exploration of archaeological sites like Native American temple mounds, in well-rounded educational day trips that are suitable for all ages. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus rolled into town, making Sarasota the No. 1 tourist attraction in Florida: THE RINGLING MUSEUM still ranks at the #1 must see in Sarasota.
