Your own private park- 70 acres

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

1200 square foot cabin with 2 bunk rooms and 1 full bath

Get away from it all without really driving that far. Enjoy a piece of paradise just 25 minutes from downtown Nashville. You won't believe how secluded this place feels. We use our home on the weekends to get away and get back to nature. The property is composed of 20 acres of flat fields and the remainder is forested hillside. This 70 acre sanctuary will help you recharge and relax. It is still also very accessible (a couple miles) to the amenities of Ashland City, TN. No special vehicles are required to access this property.

We received feedback regarding the well water and implemented some new measures to greatly reduce the sulfur smell. Thanks to the input and suggestions from our guests, we have created a better visitor experience.

This cabin has all the amenities of a standard home. We have electricity, plumbing, running water and HD antenna TV. It is equipped with Internet service. From the outside the home looks like a barn. The doors on the front of the cabin slide open to reveal fours sets of floor to ceiling windows. The inside height of the main room is 10 feet. The full bathroom has a sink, toilet and combination shower. We also have a fully functioning bathroom outside with sink, toilet and shower. This outdoor bathroom functions from April through November.

Let me start this review by saying that it was horrible Once you walk in you get the smell of rotten eggs slammed in your face horrible we threw up . Then the air condition didn't work it only worked for the living room so you have to sleep in the living room we couldn't sleep in the bedrooms anyways they were too small. it stated that you can go fishing there's no fishing ponds there's no fishes just a little creek there's no fishing nowhere. All we got was a lot of deer ticks every time we went out a deer tick with jump on us we were so scared it was terrible. We have to stay we put all our money in this vacation thinking we were going to get our deposit then this man comes up with scooters were missing scooter that he found later on making up every excuse not to give us our deposit then he said that one of the outside chairs was burnt that he will send me a picture never sent me a picture I contacted him again and he said that chair was going to cost $250 to get fixed what chair causes $250 to get fixed he never sent me a picture so there's no proof anything happened he just ripped us off did not want to give us our deposit I will never recommend this place to nobody.

Owner's Response: Danny, I am sorry that my cabin was not as you had expected. I'd like to clarify a few details. The property has a small stream that is not meant for fishing. There are several locations along the nearby Cumberland River (less than 5 miles away) with excellent fishing. At this time of year there are ticks and they are present throughout rural Tennessee not just on our property. Yes, a scooter was left in the field by accident. I later found it while mowing. Finally, the Adirondack chair was repaired by a local craftsman for $30. The repair was required since the chair was burned by embers from the fire pit. I am happy to refund the remainder of the deposit to you. Sincerely, Greg

Beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here the beginning of April. It's an old barn converted into a beautiful living space. They did a great job! My kids did complain about the sulphur smell but quickly got over it. We loved exploring the land and playing in the stream. The ticks were out and we pulled off 8 during our stay(including a few teeny tiny ones we wouldn't have even noticed if we hadn't been checking ourselves well). The hornets were not around at the beginning of our stay but did get bad towards the end. They kept finding ways inside the cabin. But honestly, they were leaving us alone and didn't bother us. The internet was slow and they ask that you don't stream videos, which was a bummer for my 9 year old. But that is part of why we enjoyed the trip, we all spent less time on screens! We had a great time and I would recommend to others!

Great Property

  • 5 of 5

Overall, our stay was great. The property is as big as stated and was wonderful to explore. It is literally a private park and was one of the quietest places I've been in a while. The cabin is far enough away from the road and other houses that the only noise you will hear will be any you make. It was a very relaxing stay. The yard in front of the cabin alone makes it worth it as we loved playing with our furry companions who came along too.

When renting the cabin, make sure to plan some time to just explore the area. I would definitely recommend walking to the waterfall toward the end of the property. The stream runs throughout the property and makes for a nice walk. There are two large grassy meadows as well so finding places to play and relax shouldn't be an issue.

The cabin has almost everything you could need in terms of cooking supplies and cleaning supplies. Despite having a Walmart within a few miles, we didn't need to make any trips for things we forgot or didn't think of when packing because they were all supplied in the cabin.

As the description mentions, there is a sulfur smell in the water which can be overbearing at times. The only time it was an issue was in the bathroom after a few people had taken a shower. Also, the source of heat for the cabin is a wood-burning stove so the cabin will stay nice and toasty; just make sure to use the fans to prevent it from getting too hot inside. Those are really the only two negatives about the cabin if you can call them that. We went early enough in the year that we didn't have to worry about insects so I cannot comment on those.

Great getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year visiting this property for spring break, and it has been terrific both times. It's a wonderful departure from life in town, but still within easy driving distance of Nashville. Our kids (6 and 12) love to explore the woods - and play tag in the meadow after dark! - and to be honest, so do we. There is always something new to see in the creek and hills. On the first day of our visit this year we got the only only decent snow we've seen all winter, and while it wasn't quite enough for sledding, it was plenty for a snowball fight and a snowman! Even with the snow outside, we had no trouble keeping the cabin warm enough with the wood stove.

This year our day trips included the zoo (really beautiful!) and Adventureworks ziplining (well organized, and so much fun!). We love coming home to such a peaceful setting after a busy day, cooking hot dogs and marshmallows over a campfire, and also having a kitchen indoors to make veggies with dinner (sorry, kids!), and a pot of coffee in the morning.

I can see why Greg and his family love it here. We do too!

Cheatham County Stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here Thanksgiving, 4 adults and 3 kids. We loved this place. The kids hiked, played in the creek and on the zipline. There are lots of toys and games for the kids as well. I like the fact that you feel like you are out in the wilderness but in reality you are 10 minutes from Ashland City. The adults liked sitting around the fire pit at night and gazing at the stars.
