About Liz Fletcher

We are a family of three. I moved to Tucson 30 years ago from Ashland, Or. I have lived in Washington, northern California, the White Mountains of Arizona, and Canada in younger days. In the 1970's I lived and worked in Costa Rica and in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico in 1990. as a musician. My husband, a former Motown musician, and I met playing together in a Tucson Blues band. He is now retired for health reasons. I am completing a graduate degree at the UA and am a massage therapist--mostly on hiatus!

Liz Fletcher purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Liz Fletcher chose Arizona

This prime location in the "Baked Apple" is convenient to a variety of interests. Former ranch property which the city has grown up around we are close to the UA and "The Loop" on the Rillito Wash, you can walk to groceries or restaurants and nature. Originally a home for our extended family who have since relocated out of state, I began to re-purpose the extra space for hosting a year ago. I have really enjoyed the process and especially our wonderful guests. Around two years ago I began implementing water harvesting features on the property which has become a fascinating philosophy and practice.

What makes this cottage unique

Feel comfortably at home while you enjoy this location- location. The low key, low density, neighborhood was established in 1938. Be close to the heart of Tucson with easy access to more distant attractions! Neighbors enjoy walking their dogs, biking, and strolling the wide quiet streets. Only 3 miles from the UA and just blocks from "The Loop" (over 100 miles of non-motorized bike/foot trails), this neighborhood is cherished by Tucsonans and appreciated by visitors. Located very near the Rillito Wash, an arroyo corridor runs through the neighborhood, providing sightings of varied wildlife including herds of javelina, bobcats and kittens, hawks, rabbits, ground squirrels, and the exotic sounds of owls at night. Walk to groceries and a French cafe or Mexican food one block away. Numerous diverse restaurants are just minutes away by car.

Really enjoyed my stay at this wonderful Bungalow

The owner really paid a lot of attention to detail, a home away from home, very private and wonderful patio, I would recommend it to anybody.

Well equipped, nicely appointed property.

  • 5 of 5

An excellent place to stay. Liz was a very friendly owner and the property was lovely. Good size bedrooms, good shower, well equipped kitchen and nice indoor and outdoor seating areas. Close to supermarkets and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Tuscon.

Quiet, well equipped, great location

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to anchor a two week vacation in Tucson. Outside of a few barking dogs it was quiet and peaceful. The owner was helpful and provided everything needed for a great stay. I hope to return someday.

Wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful guesthouse and it was a totally enjoyable experience. The written description is accurate and Liz was great. Not only is the guesthouse charming and comfortable, it gave us a real sense of being in the Southwest. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, and everything was clean and in good shape. We really enjoyed having breakfast on the patio. Good grocery stores nearby and a good central location to seeing the sights. I recommend this location and plan on returning.

Comfortable and Inviting

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a wonderful week at the 1952 Guesthouse. Liz made us feel very welcome, and the guesthouse itself is inviting. The kitchen is well stocked and includes a dishwasher. All the rooms are appealing and well furnished. The beds are very comfortable, and so is the kitchen and living room furniture. Glass doors lead out to the patio, which is very private. The patio is furnished with table and chairs and is surrounded by cacti and other green plantings. We spotted a hummingbird feeding on the flowers. The patio also overlooks the pool, which Liz keeps clean and ready for swimmers. We took day trips to the Dessert Museum, Saguaro National Park, Mount Lemmon, and Sabino Canyon. Tucson has many restaurants from which to chose; we especially like the food at Rosa's. We are eager to return for another stay at the guesthouse!
