|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Completed in late 2006, this is one half of the top floor of Casa Collinetta, which is a 5 minute walk (or a 2 minute taxi ride) from the Sunnegga lift. The exposed beams and vaulted ceiling give the apartment a real alpine feeling and make it very light and spacious. Everything you'd expect to find in a modern, high quality apartment is here: The fitted kitchen has a fan oven & electric hob, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and an espresso/cappuccino machine; in the lounge there is a wall mounted LCD TV with a DVD/CD player and a radio (the cable TV includes several English channels). The sofa bed is comfortable both as a sofa and a bed (although if 2 people are sharing it they'll know each other pretty well by the end of the week!). The large wardrobes in the bedroom provide ample room for everybody's clothes, and the powerful shower is ideal to wake everybody up in the morning. We have a wireless 8Mb broadband connection. There is a lift from the entrance hall to all floors.
The property it is accurate to the web description.
I would recomend this property.
We were delighted with this flat - the view was outstanding! Fortunately, we had clear views of the mountain every morning, while enjoying morning coffee on the balcony.
The flat was clean, bright and well equipped. Contemporary furnishings were well chosen; the right balance between function and spaciousness. A spice rack was a welcome feature, and some kitchen staples were on hand. Linens were provided (bedding, bath towels, kitchen towels); this is not always the case in Switzerland, so do check the details on your prospective accommodation.
Communication in advance was timely and thorough. Key collection and drop-off was effortless. The information package was helpful and sufficiently detailed.
Located a bit past the core of Zermatt, the flat was a quite manageable walk (although there are several stairs to access the walkway to the building). Loads of excellent hiking trails directly from the town centre.
Happy to recommend!
A very nice, efficient apartment in touristy Zermatt, but be prepared for a walk.
The Matterhorn is right there off the front balcony along with a good view of the city. Modern and nicely equipped (no measuring cup, though).
It's a bit of a hike to get there -- about a kilometer from the train station, the CO-OP grocery and most everything, with ups and downs. If you have trouble walking, especially stairs, this might not be your best choice.
But don't let me scare you away. It's a quiet neighborhood with a pleasant evening breeze from front to rear (we were there during a warm August). Plenty of room for my charming wife and myself. Wi-fi and TV were excellent -- not that we watched much TV.
If you stay at this apartment and travel around and through Zermatt, you will likely notice that not very many vacation rentals and hotels have a Matterhorn view as good as this Casa Collinetta property. You will also likely notice that many other vacation properties are even more difficult to get to than this one.
Bottom line is that my charming wife and I would happily stay again at this apartment.
Apartment was as described, contact with the owner was prompt, efficient and informative. Very clean and well maintained.
The accommodation is about 15 minutes from central Zermatt, and is up hill, so suited to more mobile guests. There are restaurants nearby (within 5 minutes), however. An electric taxi from the station cost us SFR20 on our arrival, but it's mainly downhill on the way back, and wasn't a problem to drag our luggage to the station.
Being on the top floor (and we were there in summer), it was quiet. There is a heliport to the rear of the property, which does lead to some noise during the summer days, but not a major issue.
Bedroom has a massive wardrobe with ample coat hangers (how refreshing!).
Kitchen is very well equipped, with everything you need to prepare a meal if Swiss restaurant prices and the £:SFR exchange rate starts to get you down!
Wi-Fi worked well. TV has BBC 1 & 2, which was handy for watching Andy Murray win Wimbledon!
Perfectly spacious for 2, but might be more of a compromise for 4, if using the sofa bed.
Thanks, Monique, for a great stay, and for arranging 7 out of 8 days of wall to wall sunshine so we could enjoy the magnificent view!
We enjoyed out stay at Casa Collineta. It is a 15 minute walk from the train station and central Zermatt. As a result, it was quiet and calm, exactly what we were looking for during our stay. There was a Delezio espresso machine, which was convenient. You can buy pods ahead of time in the Migros in town. We would recommend the apartment for anyone visiting Zermatt.
This apartment is great. Very clean, nice modern design, has everything you need. WIFI worked great. I didn't expect to have a hairdryer available as this is not a hotel, but there was one available. It was great because we traveled from the States, and our power converter broke, so it was super-helpful. It was about 10 minute walk to the chairlift and a couple of ski rental places. There is also a bus right by the chairlift that can take you to Furi line in no time. There are a few very good restaurants close to the apartment as well. In general we had no problem walking to the center of the village and back. The only thing that I would've loved to have is a full-length mirror.
We had a great stay, and I would recommend this place.
We are in the North East of Zermatt (for more information, please, do not hesitate to contact the owner)
Access to and from the town centre/station is by walking or electro taxi.
The resort itself sits at the foot of the Matterhorn, 1600m above sea level at the end of the spectacular Vispa valley. Cars are not allowed into Zermatt, so if you're coming by car you'll need to either park in Täsch (5km from Zermatt), or in Visp (27km from Zermatt) from where you can complete your journey by train.
There are also a few companies offering parking with a 24hr taxi service from Täsch to Zermatt.
The train journey from Geneva is very easy and takes between 3.5 and 4 hours, with one change at Visp or Brig. If you're traveling by car, allow approx. 3 hours to include parking in Täsch.
Although Geneva is the closest airport, it's also easy to get to Zermatt from Zurich, Basel, Bern and Milan Malpensa airports.
