Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Zermatt - Casa Collinetta

1 Bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps up to 4

Completed in late 2006, this is one half of the top floor of Casa Collinetta, which is a 5 minute walk (or a 2 minute taxi ride) from the Sunnegga lift. The exposed beams and vaulted ceiling give the apartment a real alpine feeling and make it very light and spacious. Everything you'd expect to find in a modern, high quality apartment is here: The fitted kitchen has a fan oven & electric hob, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher and an espresso/cappuccino machine; in the lounge there is a wall mounted LCD TV with a DVD/CD player and a radio (the cable TV includes several English channels). The sofa bed is comfortable both as a sofa and a bed (although if 2 people are sharing it they'll know each other pretty well by the end of the week!). The large wardrobes in the bedroom provide ample room for everybody's clothes, and the powerful shower is ideal to wake everybody up in the morning. We have a wireless 8Mb broadband connection. There is a lift from the entrance hall to all floors.

Modern, clean and well equipped top-floor apartment with stunning Matterhorn view

  • 5 of 5

Apartment was as described, contact with the owner was prompt, efficient and informative. Very clean and well maintained.

The accommodation is about 15 minutes from central Zermatt, and is up hill, so suited to more mobile guests. There are restaurants nearby (within 5 minutes), however. An electric taxi from the station cost us SFR20 on our arrival, but it's mainly downhill on the way back, and wasn't a problem to drag our luggage to the station.

Being on the top floor (and we were there in summer), it was quiet. There is a heliport to the rear of the property, which does lead to some noise during the summer days, but not a major issue.

Bedroom has a massive wardrobe with ample coat hangers (how refreshing!).

Kitchen is very well equipped, with everything you need to prepare a meal if Swiss restaurant prices and the £:SFR exchange rate starts to get you down!

Wi-Fi worked well. TV has BBC 1 & 2, which was handy for watching Andy Murray win Wimbledon!

Perfectly spacious for 2, but might be more of a compromise for 4, if using the sofa bed.

Thanks, Monique, for a great stay, and for arranging 7 out of 8 days of wall to wall sunshine so we could enjoy the magnificent view!

Lovely apartment with great views and modern kitchen

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed out stay at Casa Collineta. It is a 15 minute walk from the train station and central Zermatt. As a result, it was quiet and calm, exactly what we were looking for during our stay. There was a Delezio espresso machine, which was convenient. You can buy pods ahead of time in the Migros in town. We would recommend the apartment for anyone visiting Zermatt.

Great property

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is great. Very clean, nice modern design, has everything you need. WIFI worked great. I didn't expect to have a hairdryer available as this is not a hotel, but there was one available. It was great because we traveled from the States, and our power converter broke, so it was super-helpful. It was about 10 minute walk to the chairlift and a couple of ski rental places. There is also a bus right by the chairlift that can take you to Furi line in no time. There are a few very good restaurants close to the apartment as well. In general we had no problem walking to the center of the village and back. The only thing that I would've loved to have is a full-length mirror.

We had a great stay, and I would recommend this place.

Clean, modern apartment with lots of utilities

  • 4 of 5

Very clean and modern apartment. It was spacious and a very cozy environment especially with the bean bag sofas. Great view of the Matterhorn as advertised and awesome balcony view. Owner was very courteous and allowed us to make last minute changes to our reservation, even after our deposit was made months back. The owner was trustworthy and delivered a great experience. The information sheet provided was very informative and the utilities provided in the apartment surpassed our expectations. The only negative aspect was how far up the hill the apartment was- since my husband and I are snowboarders we had to walk up a steep hill everyday after a full snowboarding day for 8 days in a row carrying our heavy gear to get home, which was fine for us to exert ourselves since we are younger and capable. But for the less active, elderly or individuals that are less physically capable, they might not be able to handle it without help from a taxi which is not cheap in Zermatt. It would be good to note the 10-15 minute uphill walk from town, and also list the closest routes (e.g. the shortcut from Sunnega lift is what we used). Overall it was still a good experience, and definitely an "active" vacation.

Fantastic apartment in great location and resort!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived in Zermatt and our first impressions of the resort were 'WOW'!! I'd been to Zermatt once as a small kid however not since and I can honestly say after our stay it's one of the best, if not the best, resort in Europe! Fantastic skiing area, coupled with Swiss charm and you can't really do much better.

In terms of the Apartment, the liaison between ourselves and the owners was excellent and they communicated with us extremely well and made sure our stay was fantastic. We did have a small issue on arrival however Elena and Howard dealt with the situation brilliantly and we can only say how impressed we were. The apartment is exactly as described; modern, great views of the Matterhorn, excellent condition and a very nice place to stay. 10/10 in terms of comfort and facilities.

We will be coming back to Zermatt in the future and we will be looking to stay at this apartment again.

Geneva/ Milan
Nearest Ferry
580 Miles
Nearest Motorway

Car: not necessary

We are in the North East of Zermatt (for more information, please, do not hesitate to contact the owner)

Access to and from the town centre/station is by walking or electro taxi.

The resort itself sits at the foot of the Matterhorn, 1600m above sea level at the end of the spectacular Vispa valley. Cars are not allowed into Zermatt, so if you're coming by car you'll need to either park in Täsch (5km from Zermatt), or in Visp (27km from Zermatt) from where you can complete your journey by train.

There are also a few companies offering parking with a 24hr taxi service from Täsch to Zermatt.

The train journey from Geneva is very easy and takes between 3.5 and 4 hours, with one change at Visp or Brig. If you're traveling by car, allow approx. 3 hours to include parking in Täsch.

Although Geneva is the closest airport, it's also easy to get to Zermatt from Zurich, Basel, Bern and Milan Malpensa airports.

The house has a large communal ski room, which can be accessed using the apartment key. We also have our own lockable 'cellar' for storage of suitcases, buggies etc. A travel cot is available if required. Most of Zermatt is within easy walking distance, however we suggest that when you arrive at the station, you jump in an electro taxi to get to the apartment - and do the same when you leave.
