Overview

About the property

Tidy home w/1 Bdrm 1 Bth. Sleeps 2 (3 in a pinch!) Great central MDI location!

Adorable Cottage, Affordable Accommodations Aunt Betty's Cottage provides the perfect mix of value and comfort for today's budget-minded yet savvy traveler. It features bright spaces, new furnishings, and many amenities not typically found in low-budget accommodations-- all the while being situated in the heart of Mount Desert Island with Acadia National Park and the villages of Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor virtually at your door. Accommodating two comfortably and 3 in a pinch, you'll soon have a new favorite Aunt, and she lives in Bar Harbor, Maine!

Sunday to Sunday, 7 day rentals are preferred, so if you're coming to the Island to attend a Saturday event, Aunt Betty's is a perfect choice. Shorter stays of 3 nights or more will be considered, too, especially in the 'shoulder' seasons. Prices range from $95- $130 per night ($600-$900 per week) depending upon the time of year. Check out the booking calendar and rates page for exact pricing. Note that pets are welcome for a small fee and with written permission from the owner. Additionally, rentals for four days or less incur a $50 cleaning fee.

Please note that Aunt Betty's Cottage is a guest cottage to a somewhat larger main home. As a result you share a driveway and a deck. The occupants of the main home are an established, hard-working couple. They are private and especially busy during the summer months, so you won't see much of them during your stay.

Need to accommodate more people? Check out our larger property, Hamblen House-- vacationrentals id #7119252.

Clean and cute!

The cottage was clean and cute with all of the amenities of home. Great location to get to different parts of Acadia. Washer and dryer sure came in handy!

Great home base

  • 4 of 5

We used this cottage as a home base during our vacation to Acadia. The space was perfect for us and our dog, and Carl's communication was excellent. It was clean and fully furnished which is great. The proximity to Acadia made it convenient for our time in Maine.

The only thing keeping keeping me from rating this five stars is the proximity to the main house and a main road. It wasn't possible to walk the dog without leaving the property due to car traffic, and the cottage is a few feet away from the main house. Although friendly, it was a bit awkward walking out of the cottage and looking into the other couple in the kitchen.

This is a great home base and has all the amenities you need to have a comfortable time away, just be aware of the main road and privacy.

A great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a cozy cottage to welcome our human and furry family. Aunt Betty's was clean, comfortable and offered all the amenities of modern day...clean bathroom, wireless, cable tv, washer, dryer, full kitchen. It was close enough to Acadia that we could spend the day hiking with our pooch and then drop him off in the evening for fun night out. It had comfortable beds that provided a good nights sleep after our long walks. We felt very lucky to have found this gem! Carol was a wonderful host who took a few minutes with us new arrivals to recommend mountains to climb and places to eat. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay!!!

Feels Like Home

  • 5 of 5

I spent two weeks at the cottage and loved every minute! It's bright, cheery and cosy. The kitchen is well stocked, and the bed is very comfortable. A previous reviewer commented that the shower was small, but it's a pretty standard size for a single shower stall. Also, having a washer and dryer is a dream - especially if you spend a lot of time in Acadia like I did.

The location is wonderful. My dogs and I would go to Acadia to hike nearly every day, and it was a quick 10-15 minute drive to a trailhead. You'll definitely be driving as the cottage is on a road that is not pedestrian friendly (i.e. no sidewalks), but I really appreciated having a getaway close to all the island has to offer without being smack in the middle of all the cruise boat visitors.

Carol was a great host, and I highly recommend a stay at the cottage!

Cottage to close to main house a road

  • 2 of 5

Cottage was just to close to the main house for our liking. Also there is a lot of street noise because it sits pretty close to a busy road. The shower is really small and I am a small person(5ft 3in and 125 pounds). I could not shave my legs in the shower. No gas grill and you will need to put a quilt on the bedroom window because to much light comes in at 430am!! The kitchen is stocked but I did have to ask for a mixer and mixing bowls. Also no air conditioning but putting a fan in the window work for us when we were there.

A wonderful vacation "home"

  • 5 of 5

This cottage had all the comforts of home, despite being a relatively small space. Everything was clean and comfortable, with little touches that made the experience really special (fresh cut flowers, games, laundry and linens, a full kitchen including tea and spices).

The owners were very communicative, throughout the process, answering questions before we booked, confirming details before hand, sharing directions, and we received the security deposit shortly after our stay. One of the most comfortable cabin/cottages I have stayed in!
