About Ronald Mickler

My wife and I were both born in St. Augustine. My wife lived on Spanish St. from age one; her grandmother lived in a home on Spanish St when my wife was born. We still own the home of her grandmother and the home my wife grew up in (our daughter's family now live here!). We live on Spanish Street, across the street from where my wife grew up. Ron is a retired educator and Martha is employed by the St. Johns County School Board. We raised two children on Spanish Street and one has returned to raise her family here.

Ronald Mickler purchased this cottage in 1960

Why Ronald Mickler chose St. Augustine

The Little San Felipe cottage was constructed circa 1866. It is perfect for a couple and/or a small family, as it is in the very heart of the old city, half a block from the City Gates, two blocks from the old fort, three blocks from the old cathedral, three blocks from Matanzas Bay. The British Night Watch marches past this home every December, an annual event dating back to the British occupation.

What makes this cottage unique

Little San Felipe has parking directly adjacent to the house, on brick pavers. It has a porch for guests to use as they enjoy the horse-drawn carriages parade by, or just view/speak to other visitors as they visit our street. Guests can walk half a block and catch tour trains to see all there is to see of the historic area, then take their time to walk around and explore on their own, at leisure.

Great location with a very comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

The quaint cottage has everything you would need. Additionally, a futon and fold out love seat provide sleeping space for overnight guests. The location is a block off St George Street, a location that can't be beat. The owners of the cottage are nice and helpful. I so enjoyed my two months here ( February and March 2017) that I have decided to spend two months in this cottage next winter. Can't wait to return.

Great St. Augustine Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Little San Felipe. If you want to be in the middle of it all, this is the place for you. The cottage was roomy and accommodating. It is located in the center of historic area. Cute front porch for watching the world go by. Never need to use your car unless you want to head over to the beach. Walk to shops, restaurants, entertainment and historic sites. St. Augustine is a beautiful city with an amazing history and charm. The people are lovely. Ron was a great host and very helpful in navigating the area as this was our first time in St. Augustine. Thanks, Ron, for the wonderful stay!

Quaint cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely, convenient place to stay. We walked to do all sightseeing and meals. The place was appointed well and we loved breakfast in the big, open kitchen area. The owner was next door and he was so helpful!
