About Ronald Mickler
My wife and I were both born in St. Augustine. My wife lived on Spanish St. from age one; her grandmother lived in a home on Spanish St when my wife was born. We still own the home of her grandmother and the home my wife grew up in (our daughter's family now live here!). We live on Spanish Street, across the street from where my wife grew up. Ron is a retired educator and Martha is employed by the St. Johns County School Board. We raised two children on Spanish Street and one has returned to raise her family here.
Ronald Mickler purchased this Cottage in 1960
Why Ronald Mickler chose Downtown Historic District
The Little San Felipe cottage was constructed circa 1866. It is perfect for a couple and/or a small family, as it is in the very heart of the old city, half a block from the City Gates, two blocks from the old fort, three blocks from the old cathedral, three blocks from Matanzas Bay. The British Night Watch marches past this home every December, an annual event dating back to the British occupation.
What makes this Cottage unique
Little San Felipe has parking directly adjacent to the house, on brick pavers. It has a porch for guests to use as they enjoy the horse-drawn carriages parade by, or just view/speak to other visitors as they visit our street. Guests can walk half a block and catch tour trains to see all there is to see of the historic area, then take their time to walk around and explore on their own, at leisure.
The best little cottage in St Augustine
Perfect location with amazing hosts that are available to give you insight into the area. Love love love this cottage and the Mickler's are amazing! This is a perfect little cottage to park your car and not have to get back in it until you are headed home!
Perfect location to park your car and walk for your entire visit!
We have visited St. Augustine 6 other times, we have always loved coming to this town. Food, drinks, and site seeing are awesome. We also normally bring EVERYTHING, you don't need to staying here. The location is just perfect! Thank you for everything, Ronald! We will be back!
We loved the cottage, Great location
We love the cottage and the location was great. Ron and Martha the owners were wonderful. We never needed to move our car unless we were going somewhere other than Historic St Augustine. Definitely would stay there again. Thank you Ron and Martha and St Augustine for a wonderful vacation!
Perfect location with plenty of room. Even has storage for beach stuff. Walk everywhere.
Fun and Friendly
The Little San Felipe Cottage is on a quiet street in the heart of the historic district of St. Augustine. Ron and Martha, as well as our lovely neighbors were so helpful in giving us ideas of things to do and where to eat. The cottage itself was perfect for my husband and me. Small, yet roomy enough for us to have our own space. Quiet time and visiting with "passer by's" on the front porch during the day and in the evening was a delight. Highly recommend!!
Great Location, Nicely Furnished
We would stay again. Much more comfortable than a hotel. Many great historical sites, shops and restaurants within walking distance. Thanks Ron!
