About Ronald Mickler

My wife and I were both born in St. Augustine. My wife lived on Spanish St. from age one; her grandmother lived in a home on Spanish St when my wife was born. We still own the home of her grandmother and the home my wife grew up in (our daughter's family now live here!). We live on Spanish Street, across the street from where my wife grew up. Ron is a retired educator and Martha is employed by the St. Johns County School Board. We raised two children on Spanish Street and one has returned to raise her family here.

Ronald Mickler purchased this cottage in 1960

Why Ronald Mickler chose Downtown Historic District

The Little San Felipe cottage was constructed circa 1866. It is perfect for a couple and/or a small family, as it is in the very heart of the old city, half a block from the City Gates, two blocks from the old fort, three blocks from the old cathedral, three blocks from Matanzas Bay. The British Night Watch marches past this home every December, an annual event dating back to the British occupation.

What makes this cottage unique

Little San Felipe has parking directly adjacent to the house, on brick pavers. It has a porch for guests to use as they enjoy the horse-drawn carriages parade by, or just view/speak to other visitors as they visit our street. Guests can walk half a block and catch tour trains to see all there is to see of the historic area, then take their time to walk around and explore on their own, at leisure.

Great Owners and Location!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently stayed for a long weekend to visit our son at Flagler College. The owner, Ron, was kind enough to meet us right on time, show us through the home and make sure we were settled. The place was very clean and comfortable. It is in an incredible location, not blocks from town, but right within town and steps from the best restaurants, bars and shops. (Try the Social Club around the corner for happy hour-great people.) We certainly will be returning.

Wonderful stay in historic St. Augustine

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a 3 night stay at Little San Felipe Cottage. I challenge you to find a better location for a stay in St. Augustine. The cottage is a block away from the many stores and restaurants of St. George street. My wife and I were travelling with our two young kids, 6 and 3. The close proximity to everything was huge for us, as it allowed us to take short breaks throughout the day to avoid meltdowns from the kids (or mom and dad). The cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed and an open room with a kitchen, futon and fold out love seat. The place was very clean and comfortable. The cottage is located on a one way street in very close proximity to St. George Street. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and people watching. Finally, Ron was a pleasure to deal with. He met us when we arrived late Friday night and offered great suggestions for beaches and restaurants. We hope to make staying at Little San Felipe a yearly tradition.

Fantastic house right in the center of town.

  • 5 of 5

Little San Felipe was the perfect place for our vacation. It was clean and right in the center of town beside all of the attractions. Ron was great! When we arrived he met us and gave us an overview of the house and tips for things to do and places to eat. I would highly recommend Little San Felipe. We will definitely be coming back!
