GREAT stay at this home! We were working in the area during the week we stayed at the home so couldn't enjoy it as much as we wanted to. But while we were there it was such a nice experience. It is a huge home with plenty of room, two big living rooms with giant couches and big screen tvs, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. It is clean and beautiful. The beds were very comfortable. The owner was super easy to work with and everything as stated. The lake is beautiful. We found it very relaxing to sit on the dock and watch the ducks. We didn't have the opportunity to use the pool, but it was clean and looked refreshing. Most definitely recommend the Lakefront Retreat...you'll love it!
Absolutely the most perfect family vacation home! My family enjoyed the swimming pool, fishing/dock, nature, and pool table. We cooked at home most every meal and sat down together at the dinner table for most every meal-something we don’t do often with busy work schedules. My grandchildren were outside every day and enjoyed each day-they were exhausted by 8:00 PM and fell right to sleep. We had to leave on Friday and Saturday morning my three year old grandson woke up and asked my son if we could go back to the lake house today. They already want to go back-we relaxed and laughed all day long. Thank you John and Patty for sharing your home with us. We want to come back next year. Lisa the Property Manager was very attentive and immediately fixed the only minor issue we faced (battery in smoke alarm needed to be changed). She was also kind to bring me a brochure and calendar of community activities. Great experience…lifelong memories.
This was our first stay in the Lake Placid area and boy did we love it. John and Patty's house was right on Lake Henry and at the edge of an orange orchard...very private. A rare find. We spent many hours fishing, watching wildlife (those turtles!) and playing pool. The house is nicely done with plenty of space. We enjoyed sitting on the patio reading on rainy days. When the brother-in-law brought his boat we really got to explore the lake and we were able to use the house's boat ramp. Jaxson's and Dock 633 are a short drive from the house and both are worth visiting. Lake Placid is a great small town and we met several really nice people. We will be back!
The Smith Sisters (4 of us) enjoyed the Watters House for a whole week. Everybody had their own sleeping space and privacy when wanted, and plenty of room to gather together and reminisce, whether on the screened in porch, in the dining room, or out in the screened in pool.
There were some hotly contested billiard games, card games and wine tasting most every day.
The house is very nicely furnished and complete with appliances, dishes, flat wear and cooking utensils. Just bring food and wine and settle in!
We did dine out in the evening, recommend The Watering Hole on hwy 27, north of Lake Placid, and Chicanes@The Inn on the Lakes, also on Hwy.27 , just outside of Sebring.
Highly recommend for a relaxing Florida getaway, the weather was perfect in March.
Our family spent “spring break” in Lake Placid, and were fortunate to find “Watters Estate.” Certainly, I have not personally visited every rental home in Lake Placid, but I can say with reasonable confidence that there is no home quite like Watters Estate.
The home sits between Lake Henry and a large orange grove. Therefore, you have wonderful privacy, peace, and space to enjoy. Lake Henry is one of the smaller lakes of the area, but is a lovely, calm lake that is still big enough to enjoy water activities, including fishing, and water skiing. During our week, we experienced little other lake traffic. If you wish to expand your lake experience, a shallow canal on the south side of lake provides access to Lake June (provided the water levels are high enough, which they were for our 18-foot I/O bowrider during our stay). The property has a simple, dirt boat ramp that can be used to launch your boat, however you may prefer to use the larger, concrete ramp in Lake June, depending on the size of your boat and type of vehicle you have. (After a rainy day, I was unable to get my loaded trailer out of the water due to lack of 4-wheel-drive.)
The home is an eclectic blend of eras and styles, but is wonderfully spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen provides all the tools necessary, and the gas grill is new and clean. All appliances are current and worked perfectly. The pool table provided a great activity for our family when we were not on the lake. The detached pool and patio was clean with lots of sitting areas.
The dock and boat lift complete the home, and provide quick access to the lake.
The owners were very pleasant by e-mail, and there are local caretakers who are “on call” if an issue with the home were to arise.
I look forward to spending many future vacations at Watters Estate!
