About the property

Private home owned by two families who enjoy spending time on Cape San Blas.

Our home, Cool Change, is a three bedroom, three bathroom home on two levels and is a Saturday to Saturday rental. The two screened porches and a large open porch, all facing the water, encourage you to enjoy the breeze off the Gulf of Mexico, dine outdoors, relax on a lovely wooden swing, or just watch the sunrises and sunsets. A large kitchen encourages families to cook together or if that is not on the menu for the evening, numerous wonderful restaurants are ten to twenty minutes away. Right outside the downstairs queen bedroom is a large bathroom that includes a laundry with full size washer and dryer. Upstairs another queen master with an ensuite bath, and a bedroom with twin beds. There is an additional full bath upstairs as well as a nook where you could relax, read, or use your computer. Nature has blessed this area and it is home to many birds, including a mated pair of Great Horned Owls, lynx, dolphins, fish, and other animals that appreciate this part of old Florida. This quiet neighborhood offers complete relaxation with easy access to the boardwalk that leads directly to the beach.

Recent updates includes high speed wireless internet and unlimited nationwide calling, a new flatscreen television and DirecTV, a new refrigerator, a glasstop stove and a new outdoor gas grill. The kitchen includes a dishwasher and numerous small appliances. There is dishware enough to feed a large family, seating at the counter for three, and the table easily holds six or more.

Kitchen: fully equipped kitchen including new refrigerator with ice and water in the door, glass top stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster and other small appliances. Dishware for 12 and plenty of pots and pans for preparing meals, and a pantry to hold your groceries.

Entertainment: Wi-fi, unlimited national calling, DirecTV, DVD players, TVs in bedrooms and living rooms.

Outdoor: gas grill, screened porches on each level, and open porch with table, chairs and umbrella on first floor. Under house parking for two or three cars, and room in driveway for boat. There is a closet on the ground level with chairs, an umbrella and various toys for the beach as well as a small Weber charcoal grill. Nice outdoor shower has recently been added.

Living area: living room with love seat and matching sleeper sofa (queen) and a swivel rocker, adjacent dining area has glass top table and six chairs, as well as three matching stools at the kitchen counter. The kitchen, dining area, and living room are all one large area with windows on two walls overlooking lovely views.

Home layout:

Ground floor: under house parking for two to three cars as well as room for boat in driveway, two clotheslines, covered entrance to home to avoid inclement weather; and an outdoor staircase leading up to open deck and screened porch. A closet holds toys and beach items for your use..

First floor: large living/dining/kitchen area with windows overlooking Gulf of Mexico, a queen master bedroom with TV and a wall of windows overlooking the gulf with a door to the open deck, and a full bath just outside the bedroom which contains the laundry area with full size washer and dryer. A screened porch off the living room has a comfortable wooden swing as well as chairs to enjoy the views.

Second floor: bedroom one: queen master suite with windows overlooking the gulf as well as a very private screened porch with panoramic views, a full bath with large glass door shower, and a walk-in closet; bedroom two: contains two twin beds and large closet; in the upstairs hall is a full bath just outside the bedroom with twin beds. Both bedrooms have TVs. The upstairs landing includes a lovely little alcove with a comfy wicker chair, table, and lamp.

Great Week on the Cape!

Old Florida at its best. We really enjoyed the location, house and the breeze through the pines. The Cape, Port St Joe and Appalachacola have come a long way, but still feel "undiscovered". If youre looking for miniture golf, go carts and lots of action, go to Panama City or Destin. If you prefer a slower pace without the crowds, this is it.

Convenient to beach, state park, and area restaurants.

The house was perfect for our group of two small families. We enjoyed the porches and loved the swing! Although the view of the beach was minimal, you could hear the sound of the waves which made it very relaxing from the porches. A short walk to the beach was easy and convenient. One morning we watched several dolphins playing close to shore. The outdoor shower was a big hit with the kids! We appreciated the use of the sand toys too. We visited the state park and enjoyed swimming and fishing in the bay. Saw a lot of sea life! Ken was very helpful and informative about the area. Overall it was a wonderful trip!

Nice location, extremely clean and very friendly area!

Great week in April at Cape San Blas! The house was neat and tidy, and had everything we needed. Very welcoming after a long drive from Wisconsin. Enjoyed the gas grill with fresh seafood and local restaurants are friendly and delicious. The week was relaxing, and we enjoyed riding up to 20 miles a day on our bikes with our 9 and 11 year old girls. The bike path up to the star park is wonderful! Overall, we loved what The Cape had to offer! Not commercialised or busy with traffic. The beaches are powdered sugar and untouched!

lovely stay

We spent a month in this lovely home. Nancy, I can't thank you enough for the use of your home. Our son and his wife and 10 year old son kayaked every day, either at the bay at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park where his son safely played in the shallow waters of the bay or put their kayaks in down the road at the roadside park and nightly had bonfires on the beach. We walked our dog on the beach every morning. The sunrises were magnificent. A good time was had by all and we hope to come back soon. We enjoyed having the upstairs for our family so they could be active and we could walk at our own pace and plan our day.

A very quiet laid-back area with many excellent restaurants within 20 minutes. Easy access to St. Joseph Bay for scalloping or fishing, as well as beachfront surf fishing, bicycling on 14 miles of a bike trail minutes from house, pet friendly beach, two convenience stores minutes away, and a large grocery store 10 miles away. The home is on a dune with excellent views of the Gulf of Mexico.
