Enjoy the relaxing scenic view at this comfortable New York cabin on waterfront Skaneateles Lake.
Skaneateles Lake, one of Central New York Finger Lakes. The cabin is located on the east side of the lake, 13.5 miles from the Village of Skaneateles, 27 miles from Syracuse and 15.6 miles from Cortland.
What a charming place in the finger lakes region to vacation!
The cabin is fully furnished and has an open kitchen/living room/dining area/3 bedrooms/2 full bathrooms and a bonus room. The kitchen is equipped with an electric stove, refrigerator and microwave. Covered porch with patio table and chairs. Spectacular sunsets from the porch, yard, and beach. Enjoy a glass of Finger Lakes wine or Central New York cider or beer down at the waters edge.
Great swimming, fishing, and boating in the crystal clear water of Skaneateles Lake - one of the cleanest lakes in the world. Excellent trout and bass fishing from the lake front.
Our family of eight had a wonderful time at this cottage on Skaneateles Lake! The cottage is large enough to accommodate eight people comfortably.
The Positives- A beautiful view of the Lake and fairly easy access to the water. A well stocked kitchen with all of the pots, pans and tools you need to prepare food.Comfortable and clean beds, towels and sheets. A bevy of water toys, floats and two kayaks. Two little portable heaters that helped with the cool nights.
The Negatives- A very steep road in, we had suvs so we were fine, but visitors with regular cars did not fair as well. A pretty severe issue with flies, that seem to have to do with the placement of the garbage on the front porch near the kitchen and ill fitting screens. A need for some more powerful fans to cool the house on hot nights. The lack of a dock or permanent access to a boat.
As I began, this house has many wonderful amenities. With a few thoughtful upgrades by the property manager (whom we never saw) Lorraine would have received a five star review. We found Lorraine to be a wonderful, kind homeowner, doing her best to manage her property from another state.
Thank you for sharing your property with us Lorraine!!
The lake access and views are outstanding. The house was well equipped for cooking and grilling. Master bedroom views perfect to fall asleep and wake up to. Lots of toys kayaks and floaties for the lake. Access road is scarey wish I had a 4WD. We made it in our car however. At first disappointed that no internet then after a day glad no internet. Lots to enjoy outdoors
My family stayed a week in the Palmer's home and enjoyed every minute. Alot of houses have a bunch of stairs down to the water. Their house was a nice stroll down. The house still needs a little thing here and there but nothing that efected our stay.
I recently stayed to celebrate my birthday weekend on Skaneateles Lake - this cottage surpassed our expectations! The cottage was stocked with kitchen and living necessities as well as yard games. We enjoyed using the provided kayaks down on the lake. It was an absolutely perfect waterfront location with a stunning view up the lake. Not a bad distance to travel to town - 15-20 minute drive. I hope to rent this cottage again! Perfect summer getaway experience.
A great long weekend was had at this comfy and accomadting camp on the East side of Skaneateles lake. The road is a little steep getting there but our Nissan Altima did just fine. The house had everything we needed to prepare our own food. The best part however is the spending the weekend lakefront, we enjoyed every minute being outside. From the start of the day with our coffee to looking at the stars while sitting on the shore before bed. We brought some beach chairs which came in helpful but tubes were provided and we loved being able to float in the sun. Also, booking/paying was a breeze. Thanks for letting us end our summer so wonderfully.
Photos are accurate. The dirt road down is not mentioned but should be as its pretty challenging (steep, curvy, single-lane) but a beautiful view of lake once you arrive. The house is being renovated so it's very cute, yet a large, new addition is not ready. The lake, itself, is beautiful and the house is waterfront but there needs to be some Adirondack chairs at the shoreline for sitting since there's no beach or sitting area. The house is not quite renter-ready in some aspects. It still needs actual window screens as opposed to temporary ones so the bugs can't get in at night. There needs to be a couch and some comfy chairs for the family at night, as well as some furniture for sitting on the covered porch (there are only wooden chairs for sitting in the house). There is a patio table & 6 chairs on the lawn so we had to move/carry the chairs between the yard, up on the porch, and down the hill to the shoreline & back up. The TV really should be in a family room with a DVD library since there's no cable (its in a small bedroom upstairs with a trundle day bed that our family of 4 had to try and get comfortable on). You can rent from Red Box at the supermarket in town. Be aware water pressure in showers is low. Had there been better comfy seating & fitted screens on the windows it would have made the vacation much more carefree. I did e-mail the owner because the stand alone AC units were not working, but never heard back. There is only 1 stand-up fan in the house so we went out and bought 2 (1 for each bedroom), since the days/nights were hot and the ceiling fans alone weren't enough to cool the bedrooms. The 2 new recessed kitchen lights weren't working so we had to move a bedroom lamp near the sink for the week. The place was nice but could have been much more relaxing with a few more thoughtful amenities. Our Labrador loved the lake, and we enjoyed downtown, which is about 20-minutes away and is quaint. The lake water is clear and beautiful. We brought our jetski but had to park it halfway up the dirt road since it couldn't make it down the hill to the house. The public boat ramp is 30-minutes away on the opposite side of the lake. The Seneca-Cayuga Wine Trails were fun and there are some very nice restaurants in town.
