A stunning four star Self Catering Chalet, opened in 2005, nestling close to the centre of the charming Alpine town of Valberg. Valberg lies 80kms (just over an hour) from Nice at a height of 1650m. The Chalet itself is just 500m from the ski slopes. With four stars (the top French rating) and sleeping up to 11 people, it's an opportunity too good to miss. For large parties of up to 15, the Chalet can be hired in conjunction with our Studio Grand Fromage. Access from one to the other is internal. Studio Grand Fromage is also available as a separate self-contained property. Whether you yearn for the ski slopes, for summer activities, or just a mountain retreat and somewhere to watch the world go by - this is the place for you.
This unspoilt and tranquil region of France caters for both winter and summer sports. In the winter there are 52 available ski runs with snow cover ensured by 350 snow canons. In the summer all manner of activities can be catered for including Mountain Biking (VTT), Hiking, Mountain Golf, Swimming, Tennis, Trampoline, Gymnastics, Archery, a Multi-Sport Playground, EVA, Summer Luge, Quad Biking, White Water Rafting, Canoeing, Kayaking, Trout Fishing, Rock Climbing and Pony Trekking.
Nearby is the National Park du Mercantour - a naturalists and hikers dream. For most people the entry into Valberg will be through one of the stunning gorges - The Gorges du Cians or The Gorges du Daluis. Although only 500m from the centre of Valberg, the Chalet sits on private land along a quiet road, with its own tarmacced drive, a garage and ample parking for several cars. The property has a terrace at the front and the rear.
There is also a garden surrounding the whole property and a sturdy perimeter fence.
Inside there are two floors - A large open plan main floor and an upper floor containing three bedrooms and a bathroom. The main floor hallway leads to a fully fitted kitchen and then to a linked lounge / dining room area. In this area there are wall-mounted plans of the winter ski area and the available summer activities. The lounge contains a TV, DVD and Video. It can be quickly and smoothly screened off to provide the privacy off a fourth bedroom. This lounge / dining area leads through two sets of sliding doors to a large balcony up to 4 metres deep with uninterrupted, southward facing, panoramic views of approximately thirty kilometres. This floor also contains a bathroom with a shower and toilet. There is also an additional WC on this floor. The stairwell sits at the base of a 5 metre vaulted ceiling.
Upstairs, the landing leads to three bedrooms, each with a vaulted ceiling, a balcony and fully fitted wardrobes. This floor also has a bathroom, containing a bath, WC and bidet.
Chalet idéalement situé et équipé. La décoration d'un magnifique arbre du Noel et d'un pére Noel chantant. Merci Cher Robert. Merci Mme Prieto.
Really enjoyed our stay in Valberg and can highly recommend the Mountain Golf and well sign posted mountain walks.
The chalet owners have done a great job as the chalet exceeded out expectations. It's modern, clean, well maintained and well equipped. The DVD's, highchairs and travel cots were all in good condition.
The rooms are a good size and the beds are really comfy, however the show stopper are the views from the balconies, which are spectacular.
The location one block behind the main square is so central making it really easy to walk to the bakers, bars, shops and ski lift area.
When booking we dealt with Rob Veitch who was very helpful and knowledgeable about both getting to and from the chalet and the area.
We hope to go back for the winter and have told all about this great chalet.
We had a great holiday at LGF. The Chalet is very comfortable and spacious which is usually not the case when you rent a place in the mountains.
Nothing is missing (even for babies!) and the Chalet is very clean.
LGF is perfect for a large family or for two couples with kids (the two parents room are vast, even with a baby bed, and the kids room is huge!)
Nelly welcomed us very nicely and was very helpful and lovely.
We would definitely recommend LGF to our friends (we have already started!) and look forward to coming back very soon.
Quite simply a fantastic holiday. The chalet itself was more than we could have hoped for, spacious, comfortable and with all the home comforts you could possibly need to make your stay more enjoyable. The ski area had a variety of slopes which catered for all ski levels within our group.
We will definitely visit again!
In the winter this is a popular resort for skiers and snow boarders. Some come for a week while others come just for the day. ESF Lessons are available for novices. Over 250 snow cannons ensure that there is always snow cover. Nordic style skiing routes are available. Most winters see the construction of a snow park in the shadow of the Croix du Sapet. Ice climbing is sometimes possible.
In the summer there are all manner of activities. For the restless there is Mountain Biking (VTT), Hiking, Mountain Golf, Swimming, Tennis, Trampoline, Gymnastics, Archery, a Multi-Sport Playground, EVA, Summer Luge, Quad Biking, White Water Rafting, Canoeing, Kayaking, Trout Fishing, Rock Climbing, and Pony Trekking. 2009 saw the construction of the Planetary Trail, a 1:1,000,000 scale reproduction of the solar system with a series of monolithic sculptures.
For the adventurous there is Mount Mounier and sections of the GR5 to tackle. For the naturalist there is the National Park du Mercantour.
