We had such an enjoyable stay, we couldn't wait to come back for a second trip. I didn't think it was possible to improve any of the amenities, but the owners have been hard at work, perfecting this wonderful property! I can not say enough about the comfort and relaxation this home brings to our friends and family. To us, it is a privilege to get to experience such a peaceful retreat! So much to do in the surrounding area as well. We are already pondering our next visit, and look forward to new family traditions. This cabin will surely exceed your expectations, and bring you countless memories. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to share in the joy of your unique and special home!!! Simply a gem in Panguitch Lake!!
In all fairness, this is a review of VRBO/HomeAway as much as our “stay”
We looked for a place with "year round access." After not staying at the property and telling the owner what our issue was, (none of my kids could get to the property with their vehicles and the closest "parking area" that we knew of would have entailed me shuttling my kids and grandkids for 12 hours to get them all there) he updated the profile so that future renters would know that 4WD or AWD are necessary in the winter time. The property is off of a highway, but you have about 1/2 mile of dirt/mud road at the end.
The property looks to be in a beautiful area. I have no idea about the interior. The only part of the building that I saw was walking from the front door to the garage to get a shovel to dig my son-in-law out of the mud 1/4 mile from the cabin.
The owner did offer us an additional two days, free of charge, any non-holiday weekend before Memorial day as compensation for spending Thanksgiving weekend in a Holiday Inn, since we could not get to the property. I'm not sure how to communicate more clearly that if we can't get there in the fall, we probably can't get there in the spring and it is not worth making a 6 hour drive, each way, to find out.
The up side....the cleaning team made a lot of money to wipe fingerprints off of the door handle. Not sure which house rules we broke, since we didn't stay there.
I give this 3 stars because it is not fair to give the owner 1 star because Homeway requires you to cancel at least 60 days before you know you can't get there in order to get a refund. and I can't rate it 5 because I did not see much of the property and never set foot anywhere but the path between the door and garage.
It will take a long time and a lot of urging from my kids to convince me to risk money on Homeaway ever again.
We had an incredible time at the lake house! Adventures due to storm on our arrival and departure only added to the experience. House is comfortable and has everything you need. Brianhead is only a short drive (20 min) on well plowed roads. Excellent for families to reconnect!
We had 7 adults and 7 kids. I had been wondering if we would have enough hot water for showering, and there was no problem at all.
We arrived one day after a heavy snow. Several roads were closed, and it's not easy getting there. It would be better if you have a 4WD vehicle, and plan to arrive before 4 pm, just in case. If coming in winter, AWD/4WD is highly recommended, and have your snow chain ready. Otherwise, it's not easy to drive the last part of the road: uphill from the Panguitch lake.
The kids enjoyed playing in the backyard all the way down to the lake.
It's very convenient driving to Brian Head, too. It's about 35 min driving, through 143, not much altitude change, not much curvy road either. The road was cleaned up one or two days after the snow.
Perfect location for our family to spend a few days enjoying the mountains and some seriously great fishing. The cabin is great and in a great location. The kitchen is well equipped and if I had one minor complaint it would be the beds. Everything else was great!
The cabin was spacious and beautiful. The view were amazing. The beds were comfortable and the heater worked great. There was lots of areas big enough for the family to all hang out together but to have private space too. The kitchen was large and a pleasure to cook in, lots of room to prepare food. I thought it was a lovely cabin and would definitely recommend it!
