About the property

A Mix Of Historical And New In This 1,876 Sf Single-Level House.

Charming home built in 1929 completely remodeled, enlarged, and decorated in 2015 with all new furniture, appliances , windows, hard scape, and landscaping. This house can accommodate 8 people with the Master Suite, The Queen Room, the Twin Room, and two leather sleeper couches. A large wraparound front patio faces the cul-de-sac while the covered rear patio with new gas bar-b-que gets the southern sun. Plenty of parking (guests need to use the City street passes during weekday work hours which are on site) and virtually no traffic on Wilshire Drive in front of the house. Four flat screens TVs and wireless internet included.

Phoenix's Light Rail is a five-minute walk away and then you can ride downtown to the US Airways Arena, the Chase Bank ballfield, ASU's downtown campus (or event ride to the Tempe campus), northward is the emerging chic and hip Uptown with all its new restaurants. Sky Harbor International Airport is 15 minutes away and the freeway system only five minutes south.

The Wilshire House is smack dab in the middle of Greater Phoenix and accessible to the ballparks, the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Botanical Gardens, scores of local golf courses, entertainment venues, and of course Paradise Valley and Scottsdale.

Perfect for business trips with the family, weekend getaways, short term job contracts, or getting away for a long weekend. THERE IS NO GARAGE but plenty of parking in the long driveway and on the street. City passes, which are supplied by owner, for weekday business hours required.

About Stanley

I am an independent real estate broker licensed in both Arizona and California. Having been in the profession, leasing, managing property, buying and selling as well as developing, for over thirty five years, I very much enjoy the challenge of working with people and properties. My hobbies include reading, golf, and traveling and I also teach spinning at LA Fitness and the YMCA!

Stanley purchased this house in 1990

Why Stanley chose Phoenix

Ever since purchasing The Wilshire House in 1990, I have loved this home. It took 25 years to remodel and enlarge it to its lovely state today. The original portion of the house remains dedicated to its historic heritage while the addition is absolutely contemporary as you will see. Sharing Greater Phoenix and the historic Willo Neighborhood in Central Phoenix is a treat for me and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

What makes this house unique

Walk to the Phoenix Light Rail and go to so many places locally and all over The Valley of the Sun! Being geographically at the very center of Maricopa County and the greater Phoenix Metroplex is a bonus in terms of travel times. Phoenix has a new rent-a bicycle program too with stations nearby! Please take a look at everything that is all around this locale and the convenience of being literally in the heart of the City of Phoenix, too.

See the saved url's for best restaurants, light rail, and the Grid Bike program. There is so much to see and do in Greater Phoenix and The Wilshire House is in the middle of it all - literally!

Guestbook comments from the owner

It would be very difficult to find two more energetic and positive guests to be housed at The Wilshire House. From moment one Nicole and I knew how lucky we were to have the Bertas visit us! Despite the normally terrific winter weather in Phoenix turning colder and wet, these two people simply went about their intended exploration of the metro area and northern Arizona sights with vigor and enthusiasm.

We rely on our guests' suggestions for improving TWH experience and those sent to us by Kathleen were taken to heart and immediately acted upon. Now there are bikes, helmets, and a great big lock for our guests! Having guests like the Bertas makes hosting a genuine pleasure and reminds Nicole and me about having the Golden Rule guide us towards being the best that we can be. Thank you!

I can't even begin to explain how great this property is. From my first communication with Stanley, until the day we checked out, everything was perfect. Stanley and Nicole have a wonderful property and take care of their guests. I have stayed at quite a few VRBO houses and this is by far the best. They exceeded our expectations and accommodated every request we had.

Do yourself a favor and stay here, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Perfectly and beautifully appointed home in great location

We couldn't have been more impressed ! My friend and I came to Phoenix so I could have major surgery at st Joseph's hospital . We were just a few blocks from the hospital so that was very convenient. The house had absolutely everything we needed during our stay including well stocked kitchen and bathrooms with all the necessities . Upon arrival, we were greeted by 2 bottles of wine and a basket of snacks and a welcome sign in addition to a list of all the logistics (wifi details , important phone numbers we may need, neighborhood information, and other info about the house). The beds are amazingly comfortable ! For sure the best I've ever had in any rental . I had to stay in bed recovering from surgery so the comfort of the beds was such a blessing ! The house had tons of nice blankets for lounging . It was all immaculately clean and organized . The whole place just feels home-y and peaceful. The backyard has orange, lemon and grapefruit trees which we thought was fun . The patio was a lovely place to hang out as well .

Nicole and Stanley were so kind and helpful throughout the reservation process , during our stay , and well beyond our time there . I unfortunately ended up having to be in the hospital much longer than expected and, to my surprise, they sent flowers to my hospital room. Because I was so sick, I had to extend my stay in Phoenix considerably past our rental of The Wilshire House. I called Nicole and, even though the Wilshire house was already rented, she spent a whole day calling all over town to help me find another place to stay. So very kind of her!

All in all I am so thankful for our time at TWH. What a wonderful place to stay!

Stop searching, just rent the Wilshire House!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a two week stay at the Wilshire House. The accommodations were as represented and well appointed, service was top notch, location were excellent, and we didn't want for anything (including a garlic press and bikes!). Stanley and Nicole have have created a lovely, relaxing, and cozy home away from home, and anyone who stays there becomes a part of the family. If you want to be a Phoenix tourist, go to Scottsdale. If you want to experience Phoenix as a resident, stay in the historic Willo District at the Wilshire House! Oven + Vine is a great casual hangout two blocks away...just saying!

Felt like a vacation while on business!

  • 5 of 5

I rented the Wilshire house for a crew of 3 technicians for a week long event we were working on in Phoenix. It is located about 1.5 away from the Phoenix Convention Center and very convenient to Uber back and forth (or take the light rail).

The feedback I received from the crew was great! The home is beautiful! They really enjoyed the personal touch the homeowners added to the experience. I was told they thought of everything that they might possibly need! The location was perfect to get out and about after work hours to the local restaurants. So the crew was actually able to enjoy Phoenix on their downtime and not be stuck in a hotel. As well, the ability to have a home cooked meal when you want it and relax makes a work week go by much nicer!

Thanks for the Hospitality Stanley and Nicole!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Freda, for your kind comments. I know it was a bit of a leap of faith in that you were selecting a place for your crew to stay near a working venue. Trusting in a new spot is not easy and I understand that dilemna. Weighing cost with convenience and the potential for a place not being what was promised is tough and especially from a distance. So happy it worked out and that The Wilshire House lived up to your expectations. Nicole and I look forward to hosting any and all other groups that may be coming our way from your office! Thanks again, Frdea! Stanley and Nicole

The Wilshire House has it all! Completely updated house with every amenity and awesome location! We spent a week at TWH over Spring Break and could not have asked for anything more. Nicole and Stanley have thought of everything. And hands down, you can't beat the location. Would definitely stay here again!!!
