Une vue exceptionnelle de la terrasse
My husband and I are at the airport on our return to Scotland after two fantastic weeks at this great apartment, it was everything we needed for our stay, the view from the balcony is mesmerising morning and night, we spent many night sitting out there. Watching the boats come and go, I think we may have been the only people in the apartment block as we didn't see another person ,
If your looking for a great holiday base then I would highly recommend this apartment,
Everything you need
We stayed in the apartment for 12 nights: there is everything one can want! From the smallest items (such as a big shopping bag, extremely useful when you go shopping), to all the pans, glasses, plates, dishes one could need. The apartment is amazing, the view breathless. The ceiling fans cool you up when it’s too hot, and you will love your meals outside on the terrace looking at the colors of the blue lagoon.
Diana was very nice and she met us at the airport with the keys. The position of the apartment is very convenient (and I have been in Nadur for 4 years and know places very well). Must go!!!
Perfect apartment for a relaxing holiday
It was with some trepidation that we booked our Gozo holiday accommodation, sight unseen via the net, but it turned out to be an inspired choice.
We were met at the airport and given directions which were easy to follow, but must admit we did resort to Google maps at one stage. We found the apartment with little difficulty and had no problem parking in the street.
The first thing that struck us about the apartment was the homely atmosphere, and then we were completely blown away by the view when we stepped out onto the patio. The photographs on the Net don’t do it justice. The colour of the sea was amazing. The view encompasses Comino and all the way to Malta. We spent many breakfasts and late afternoon drinks sitting out there, relaxing and watching the ferries travel back and forth between Malta and Gozo.
The apartment was very clean and well equipped with everything one needed to cook meals. The bathrooms were clean and the beds comfortable. It was in a very quiet position and an easy walk to the shops in Nadur, where one could access supermarkets, butchers, bakeries and a few cafes and restaurants.
Victoria was a short drive, as was Ramla beach, which we found to be a good place to swim. Most things were a very short drive from the apartment and driving on Gozo was very easy, as they drive on the same side of the road in Malta.
The owner recommended a number of restaurants, which we tried out. We enjoyed the meals, and always tried the local wines, which weren’t too bad, but be warned Gozo meal sizes are huge.
We were looking for a very relaxing holiday and it certainly met our brief. The general atmosphere was very laid back, and everyone we came across was helpful and friendly which made our stay even more enjoyable. We were not looking to become involved in activities, but for those who wish to participate in water sports there is plenty available to fill your days.
I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking to relax in a comfortable, home like atmosphere. A car is advisable, though there are buses nearby.
If I am lucky enough to go back to Gozo again, I will certainly stay here, as I don’t think there is a better spot on the island.
Very comfortable garden apartment
Very comfortable garden apartment with a glorious view over the sea towards Comino and Malta.
Met Diana at the airport who gave us the keys and some useful local information and directions to the flat. Its an easy drive from the airport to the ferry to get to Gozo and the apartment is only 10 mins away from the ferry port. The apartment is very comfortable, well furnished and has wireless broadband and a modern TV. Everything worked and was in good condition and it was apparent that things are regularly replaced and updated.
The bedrooms are comfortable but do shut the windows at night as they are at street level and noisy motorbikes pass by in the night.
The kitchen is modern and well equipped and has everything you would need for your stay if you plan to cook in. The apartment has a lovely view over the bay and has a large balcony which then steps down onto a courtyard garden with a lemon tree. We had all our meals out on the balcony enjoying the view by day and the local fireworks at night.
Gozo is a lovely island, easy to drive around and very friendly. Every town has a few restaurants, Nadur has two that we tried - Anthony's in the centre and Fliegu (great view from their balcony) just down the road from the apartment and both were excellent. We spent most of our time diving with Bubbles Diving in Marsalforn who took us on some very varied and lovely dives all around the island. There are some good beaches within 10 - 15 mins driving, Ramla Bay is the best but busy at weekends and Sam Blas bay is very pretty but small with limited parking. Victoria is worth a visit, the citadel and Cathedral are good and there is a local crafts village which has a smithy and glass making factory for local souvenirs out on the Xlendi road.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Garden apartment, Diana was very welcoming, the flat was clean, well equipped and modern with a lovely view and very handy for visiting anywhere on the island. I would recommend it to anyone who can manage stairs up to the main door and then down to the apartment front door.
A happy honeymoon in Nadur
We honeymooned here in August 2010. I booked the entire trip by myself so I was concerned that my wife would like the apartment. I needn't have worried: her first comment was "you've done so well!"
First impressions: Diana the friendly owner met us at the airport. Taxi ride to Gozo ferry was pre-booked with Mayjo car rentals. We picked up our hire car in Mgarr harbour and headed up the winding hill. The apartment was easy to find; the cleaner met us there and let us in.
It's airy, spacious and as you can see it has wonderful views over the Channel. We spent every mealtime on the terrace, and there are fly screens to stop mosquitos getting indoors. We enjoyed fresh lemons from the tree in the courtyard!
Indoors, the kitchen is well equipped (you can't see exactly from the photos but it is U-shaped). The living room is pleasant, seats 4, there are candlesticks for evening atmosphere. Ceiling fan = better than air con (quieter, less energy).
Bedroom is lovely and cool in summer. The en-suite is handy, has a bidet and a shower over a bathtub. The other bathroom has a walk-in shower but we did not use it.
The high window is onto the street but it is an exceedingly quiet passage. In fact Nadur is an exceedingly quiet town, away from the main square. It is perfect for secluded and relaxed holidays. Small grocery stores and butchers in the town were open mornings and late afternoons only, with a long break for lunch. Nadur's church, although not the largest or most famous on the island, is beautiful. The two best things about staying in Nadur were:
1) The aspect. Coming in and out, the town looks wonderful coming in, and the views look wonderful going out, whether that's towards the harbour or the capital.
2) Ftira. Nadur hosts two small bakeries that make ftira by hand, the Gozitan equivalent of pizza. Maxokk was our favourite, €5, pre order, walking distance from apartment…delicious.
It's easy to reach Victoria/Rabat, Xaghra and the beaches. Ramla is OK but touristy and a bit stony. San Blas is best, but steep walk & go early for a parking space. Hondoq is gravelly but you can hire a sea kayak to explore the coast :-)
I'd recommend this apartment. The only thing I would have wanted more of was information beforehand, a few more photos / bits of info to help us plan. But it's clean, lovely, well equipped, good value and easy to book. Having toured much of Gozo in 8 days I'm confident we chose one of the best places to stay on the island.
Nadur is a quiet hill-top village overlooking Mgarr harbour, Comino and Gozo. One can be self-sufficient here, or may, within a couple kilometers, be on lovely beaches, coastal walks or larger towns.
