Springbreak 2018

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for spring break 2018. It was very clean. the grill was in good shape. They allowed our boys to build a fire pit for campfires and roasting marshmallows which made them both very happy. The boys also enjoyed looking for fossils here. The maintenance man is very knowledgeable about fossils. The walk to the water is not for everyone. It was very steep so if you have trouble walking that would be difficult for you. The fishing dock is very nice and the cove is in deep water. Unfortunately we went at the wrong time of year for fishing and boating as it was very cold. I can imagine the fishing being very good there in the summer. The only thing i would really recommend is there to be more pots and pans to cook with. The lack of pots and pans made it challenging ( not impossible) to cook for our family. I am sure someone that stayed before probably took them and that was why there were so few. Overall we liked this place. The peacocks were really cool to hear and watch. Thanks for letting us stay!

Owner's Response: We appreciate your feedback and will check out the pots and pans situation. Unfortunately some items do seem to diminish over time. We are glad you enjoyed your visit here and hope to see you again. Patsy

Very nice Visit at Cherokee Village Canyon Cottage

  • 4 of 5

I took my kids and little dog down to have a break over labor day weekend, and the cabin was all in order. It was a little difficult determining which one was 208, but we figured it out. (you have to go down the little driveway between 206 and 210, at the bottom of the hill there are two cabins and a road leading off to the left. Cabin #2 is the one on the left.) It was a nice toasty weekend and the grounds were nice to be able to wander around. I enjoyed the butterflies and the hummingbirds... even saw some cool spiders. The cabin was cooled nicely and had the needful in it. It was a lovely trip for me and my kids/dog to make some memories on. Thanks again!

The cabin was very clean, and sufficiently stocked. but there were no extras. I also felt that the larger bed being in the living area should have been disclosed. I was very disappointed in the fact that we were unable to access the lake. I had specifically asked the question about which bait were fish biting on at this time. We even spent part of the day driving around the lake and there was no available fishing area. But that question was not answered by the owners. Now I know why. The Peacocks were amazing. I applaud their efforts and a little decorative things around the area. But open carports even at one of the cabins filled with old appliances and such was completely unattractive. I understood about the storms and some downed trees and branches and such that they've been trying to take care of. So the grounds looking a little shabby would have been okay. But the things around made it more junkie. I liked the kind of natural looking flower beds but they need trimmed. It was the grounds in disrepair, that detracted from the natural appearance. The interior of the cabin was very nice, the shower curtain bar needs adjusted so then it doesn't touch a larger person. all in all I enjoyed my stay, but I felt I overpaid for what we received.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. We take feedback from our guests to heart and always appreciate those who care enough to help us direct our efforts in a way that will increase customer satisfaction. First, we thank you for complimenting the quality of the cabin and its cleanliness and for noticing the effort we put into decorating the area and developing natural looking flower beds. And yes, the peacocks are amazing. Our guests seem to love the variety of peafowl species we have on the grounds, especially the white ones. We do apologize for the collection of metal and appliances visible in the garage next door to your cabin. We fully expected the metal collection to have packed them up prior to your visit. The situation has been resolved now. Based on your comments we are also reviewing our ad for this cabin. We clearly list it as a one bedroom cabin, list beds available, and show pictures of the bedroom and living room with an additional bed. At the time we placed the ad we felt it was complete and all was fully disclosed. But since you felt otherwise, we will examine the ad for more clarity.
