Beautiful spacious home - perfect for a family reunion nestled in the forest.

Unfortunately, we had heater repair issues and a cold spell during our stay.

Great home for family get together!

  • 5 of 5

13 family members got together at the Tall Timbers Retreat for a family weekend. We loved the home and the location! The home was very clean and well furnished and had amenities as described. The location was very secluded and relaxing. Watching the horses play was wonderful! The only negative was that the futons were not real comfortable for two people. Fortunately, we had brought a couple of air mattresses, so it worked out well. This home deserves the 5 stars!

Beautiful and secluded but close enough to Flagstaff for necessities.

  • 5 of 5

This home simply put, is as the pictures depict. The outlying area was beautiful near the mountains and the house was beautiful, comfortable and felt like home right from the beginning of our stay. The management of the property made it seamless for our stay and we would rent again from this company and stay at this home any time.

Good with some caveats

  • 3 of 5

The home is really nice. The location is easy access from I-40; just a little over a mile. The house itself is up against a national forest. The view from the back porch is beautiful.

We did encounter some difficulties: 1) 3 out of 4 of the heating zones were not working when we arrived, 2) we turned the oven on and it started to smoke because a pan with grease in it had been left inside, 3) the heating stopped working on our last day and we woke up to a 58 degree house, and 4) most disheartening, the water ran out our last evening and we couldn't flush toilets, clean dishes, or take showers before we left the next day.

We worked closely with the property manager, Karen Chapman, and she was very helpful. She got the heating guy out within an hour of our arrival to fix the first problem. She got the water guy to deliver water, but he showed up later in the morning as we were leaving, so we were unable to shower. Karen did issue a small refund check for our inconvenience.

If we rented this place again, we would make sure the water had been filled prior to our coming. The house has a 10,000 gallon tank, so there is no way a group of 14 should use all of that up over a 4 night stay. That being said, I would consider renting it again as long as I had the assurance of not running out of water. That was a major detraction to our stay. If it wasn't for Karen's responsiveness, I probably would have given a lower rating. All in all, if you are going to spend over $500 a night for a place, these shouldn't have been problems we encountered. Fortunately, we had spent 3 days hiking the Grand Canyon prior to our stay, so even though the last day was just a step above camping out in the canyon, we could handle it pretty well.

Great Family Christmas Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family Christmas vacation at the Tall Timber retreat. Karen made sure the house was clean, warm and ready for us when we arrived. She was available if any issue arose. The house was more spacious than the pictures showed. There was plenty of room for our big family. The surrounding forest made it feel like we were in our own winter wonderland. There was lots of outdoor area for sledding and playing in the snow. There is also a sledding park nearby. The kids, young and old, had fun playing in the game room. The furnishings and kitchen supplies were perfect. We would definitely recommend this house to others and hope to stay there again.
