Spacious 3 bedrooms can accommodate from only 2 persons max 6

Barn House is an attractive self catering cottage located in the centre of the Lake District village of Braithwaite,only two miles from the picturesque market town of Keswick on Derwentwater. If you are a keen walker we have some of the easiest walks to the most challenging walks such as the Coledale Horseshoe , starting right from the doorstep of the cottage . Or be more adventurous and try the famous Skiddaw mountain range and Blencathra range .

There are 3 delightful bedrooms and one family bathroom , with a seperate downstairs toilet and washbasin . We we are proud to say the cottage is immaculately cleaned each week from top to bottom !

In the Master bedroom there are Zip and link beds or convert into a super king bed adding more flexibility to the room arrangements, along with TV/DVD player .! The other 2 rooms have a pretty Cast iron double bed and a twin bedroom overlooking Causey Pike , although this can be restricted in the summer months with the leaves on trees.!

The lounge has this year been refurbished and we have changed the open fire for a Log burning stove , ideal for those cold winter evenings with the option of gas central heating. so you will never feel the chill . Leather Sofa and chair and large 3 seater sofa, so there is room for 6 people comfortably .

There is a large TV and DVD Player with freeview along with free WIFI so you can stay in touch with the office if required!! .

The main characteristic of the lounge has to be the gorgeous oak beams and old arch barn doors , which are now windows overlooking Coledale Horseshoe .

The spacious kitchen with its local slate tiled floor floor, again has all mod cons and is a very spacious dining area, to share family dinners .

Barn House as mentioned is located in the centre of the Lake District village of Braithwaite, two miles from the picturesque market town of Keswick on Derwentwater, where there is lots more to offer for the more adventurous , from climbing walls to Kayaking ,

Outside the cottage has a patio with outside seating and private parking for 1 large or 2 small cars with ample free parking nearby .

Braithwaite has a village shop along with a choice of three pubs providing home cooked meals and Cumbrian ales all within a 2 minutes walk of the cottage .

About Mrs Jenny Clark

The Barn has been in the family for generations as a working farm and once it was no longer viable to farm in the village , my husband undertook to renovate the barn and took 3 years to turn it into a modern day house, which has a cosy friendly feel .

Mrs Jenny Clark purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Mrs Jenny Clark chose Keswick & North Lakes

The Barn has a perfect location in the heart of the quiet village of Braithwaite and it was oozing with character, it is a perfect base for guests to explore the tranquil enviroment of the Northen Lake district and yes I am biased it is definately the most beautiful part of the Lakes - a hidden gem !

We wanted to retain as many original features as possible , such as the oak beams , the large Barn doors (now windows) and the stone archway in the pretty lilac double room. There are always improvements that we would like to do , and as soon as one project is over , another idea comes to mind!

What makes this cottage unique

This cottage has a delightful location in the heart of the quiet village of Braithwaite , making it a superb base for walkers , cyclists and Sight seers alike . Whinlatter forest is also only a 15 minute walk, as is the picturesque market town of Keswick and Derwentwater lake .

Looking out of the Lounge and Upstairs bedroom windows you see the majestic Skiddaw mountain range , which looks different every minute of the day with the rays of sunlight on it or snow capping .

Perfect location for a family visit to the north and west of The Lakes.

A cosy, very comfortable cottage in the heart of beautiful Braithwaite with fabulous views from the windows and all around. Having an off-road parking space a real bonus; if you wanted to you could walk everyday from the door and never get in the car. The tea, coffee and home-made cake that were waiting for us when we arrived were a lovely and much needed treat after the journey.

Lake District at its Best

A very welcoming cottage (fresh flowers and cake!). It is very clean and the owner is nearby and makes a point of trying to meet her guests (excellent); all is as described. The cottage is in a perfect location for walks, easy or more strenuous, all without driving. The village shop, which has just opened 5 months after the floods is excellent and everyone is very friendly. There are three pubs within walking distance - good beer and food. The weather couldn't have been better for the whole week, not a given in the Lake District. We had a lovely holiday.

Excellent Cottage

Cottage s very light and airy, with a very good kitchen, large lounge and 3 good sized bedrooms. It also has parking outside the cottage, which is not that common in Braithwaite.

It is next to a pub, the Royal Oak, but there was no noise from there and the place does good pub meals. The Coledale Inn also does very good pub meals. If you want a bit more, there is the Middle Ruddings Hotel, also in Braithwaite and several pubs and restaurants in Keswick, including a good Italian, Casa Bella.

Other attractions? You're in the Lake District - there are quite a few, especially if you like walking.

The cottage was very clean and provided all that was needed for our week. Unfortunately, the owner was away so we didn't meet her but her emails were always friendly.

I would definitely recommend this property.

Comfortable Lakes village cottage

We had a lovely 4 night stay in this clean, comfortable cottage - very well positioned for amenities (pubs and shop close by) and a great starting point for walks from the house. We cooked on 3 nights and the kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Braithwaite is a very pretty village to walk around with good pub food available. We loved shopping in Keswick and were very impressed with its parks and amenities - walking around nearby Derwentwater lake was a real treat. We hope to visit again to walk and enjoy the beautiful views.

The village of Braithwaite has the best of both worlds - a quiet, safe, interesting village, where there are a choice of 4 village pubs to eat and drink -or if you want more choice Keswick is only 2 miles.

The area is a haven for walkers and Braithwaite is overlooked by the stunning Coledale Horseshoe - a magnificent walk with amazing views

Another historical Cumbrian town is Cockermouth, only twelve miles West of Braithwaite. Birthplace of the poet Wordsworth, Cockermouth is also home to the famous Jennings Brewery (where tours are available!)

Driving over Whinlatter Pass takes you to Lorton Valley, a stunning area which leads you to Crummock water, Loweswater and Buttermere . From Buttermere you can head either over Newlands Pass into Newlands valley or Honister Pass into Borrowdale valley, both which have tremendous views.

Other nearby recreational interests include the Keswick Golf Club (6 miles) and sailing on Derwentwater or Bassenthwaite (1 mile)

Keswick Pencil Museum , Go-Ape and Whinlatter forest are all with 2.5 miles

Golf: 2 Golf Courses close by at Keswick Golf Club or Cockermouth Golf Club
