As mentioned, look for 'Gull & Anchor' on the web!!!
The Anchor was cozy, clean and complete with everything I needed for my recent stay. It was in my favorite area of "the islands" with a number of places within easy walking distance. The deck off the living room, with dining table, chairs and barbeque grill was a favorite spot to enjoy breakfast with a view. The shady fire pit area was pleasant during hot afternoons, and a very short walk brings you to a lovely rocky beach. I especially appreciated the fact that Cheryl and Tim let you know if there is an opportunity for early check-in. I will definitely look to return next year.
Wonderful accomodations. Beautiful views. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of things within walking distance.
We totally enjoyed our stay even though it was too short. Everything was as described, very clean, didn't lack for anything and the owners were available if needed. Appreciated the book of area attractions as we had never been to Maine before. Quiet get away... not too touristy. You could see water from the front door to the west and water from the back deck to the east. This location was great! The only negative was the bed but they plan on replacing it soon. Several places to eat not too far away, a lot of seafood choices. I highly recommend the ice cream at The Island Candy Store.
We stayed a week (August 7 - 14, 2016) and it was wonderful. The owners are absolutely helpful in every way. We could not get over how clean and fully equipped it was. It has a washer/dryer and everything in the kitchen you could possibly need. We steamed lobster and ate them on the deck that overlooked the water, with seagulls flying overhead. The beach is only a short walk away.
We were able to buy the live lobsters across the street and just down the road was the Salty Cod Café where you could buy delicious clam chowder and corn chowder. They also had wonderful muffins and scones.
We hope to make it back again next year. Thank you again Tim and Cheryl for having such a nice place for a vacation.
Our apartment was everything we were hoping for. Host had an awesome book of things to see and do in the area, which was very helpful. They also provided us with local places to eat and get fresh lobster. Very clean and had everything we needed. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone asking. TV channels were limited, but that was fine with me.
Spent a week vacationing at The Anchor with my wife and toddler. Loved staying in what is essentially a fully equipped little apartment, the kitchen had everything we needed to fix multiple lobster dinners (you can buy lobsters straight off the boat a short walk away). The Salt Cod Cafe is right across the street with great coffee, scones, and chowder. Orr's and Bailey's islands are amazing. We often visited a great, secluded beach that was recommended to us by the owners. Harpswell was a nice, quiet area off the beaten path while still being conveniently close to other Maine destinations. We have already recommended The Anchor (and The Gull, the associated property) to many of our friends, family, and neighbors. I highly recommend you check this one out, it is a real gem on the Maine coast.
