Return visit

  • 5 of 5

Once again Sarah made us very welcome and the cottage was perfect. A beautiful spot surrounded by fabulous views and spectacular night skies.

There is lots to do and visit locally but a highlight for us was our return trip from the Boat Station at Newenden to Bodiam Castle was a particular highlight for my two grandsons.

Highly recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your positive review. As you say, the boat trip to Bodiam Castle is a really special day out. If the weather isn’t fine, you can hop on the steam train instead- or do both.

Cosy, warm and well-furnished

  • 5 of 5

Wintons Cottage was delightful: cosy, warm and well-furnished. The gas fire was wonderful, once we had mastered the technique of switching it on. We were very comfortable over Christmas and really appreciated the excellently appointed and well-equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the walks - very helpful maps - and the tennis court was a real bonus, even on a cold Boxing Day morning. Beautiful countryside and, as others have mentioned, Rye was fantastic - we recommend the George.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your positive review. Rye just gets better and better. As locals, we’ve noticed the change over the past few years and it all seemed to begin with The George in Rye, which put Rye back on the map. Pleased to hear that you managed to play a bit of tennis in December- it’s been raining ever since!

Lovely, cosy, clean, relaxed

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in the coach house. The house is light and clean, nicely decorated, beautiful garden, lovely surroundings. Sarah is relaxed, welcoming and friendly. We walked to Rye via a beautiful route through the fields (and back by bus). Another nice walk is to a pub called The Plough. We enjoyed every minute of our stay!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive review.. The area is excellent for walking, as you discovered. There are various maps in the cottage, with easy to follow routes of varying distances. The stunning walk to Rye, via Peasmarsh church, takes about 1hr 20 mins.

Lovely property.

Super, set in lovely surrounds, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your positive review. October is a great time to visit Peasmarsh and the surrounding area. Most of the local attractions stay open until half term week at the end of the month, the trees are just turning and the pace of life in the local towns is a little bit slower than in the summer months.

Wonderful position

  • 5 of 5

The coachhouse had everything, but the best aspect was the area. Jempsons supermarket just down the road was exceptional and the attractions in plenty Rye, Bodiam castle, Great Dixter and Ellen terry's house Small Hythe were less than 10 miles away.

Owner's Response: Many thanks for sharing your local discoveries with future guests. There are so many places to visit in all weathers. We now have an excellent independent digital cinema in Rye- The Kino. The best news this year is that the Horse and Cart pub (a ten minute walk from the cottage) has re-opened. Lovely garden, great food and local ale.

Very comfortable accommodation for an extended family

  • 5 of 5

We were delighted with this house. It was extremely well furnished and equipped, beds very comfortable and bathrooms on two floors gave us some privacy, when needed. It was warm and cosy for a winter stay. Location very quiet and restful, we even managed some tennis over the new year. Ideal location for exploring the local area with Rye & Winchelsea close by. Hastings was popular with the grandchildren who enjoyed riding their bikes along the front. Not forgetting of course the wonderful store Jempsons just down the lane where we bought our rib of beef for new year. Highly recommended.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your positive and helpful review. Pleased to hear you had fun on Hastings seafront. It has benefitted from EU funding in recent years and now has a beautiful new pier. The Old Town is great for a wander and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. Like any seaside town, best enjoyed on a fine day, if possible!
