We fell in love with the beauty that surrounds you and the Anchorage community and have called this home since moving here in the late 70’s.. Our children are now grown and we spend a good deal of time traveling and visiting friends and family in the “lower 48” we maintain a mother-in-law apartment on the property for our personal use when in Anchorage. Alaska is an amazing place and has so much to offer!
Vicki Scanlon purchased this house in 2007
When we were looking at buying a home we fell in love with this location. It has great views and a quiet setting. What I have always enjoyed is that once you are here you can look out any window and not see any other building, all you look out at is the views of the inlet or the trees that surround the home. It is in close proximity to downtown and multiple attractions with easy access to hiking and bike trails, skiing, snow machining, bird watching, botanical gardens, historic museum, Alaska Railroad, Musk OX farm, Zoo and of FISHING!
Location, location, location
This house is huge yet comfy. It is situated in a secluded wooded area yet close to many activities. Very quiet! Kitchen was well stocked. WiFi was fast and easy to use. Bedding was very comfortable and elegantly decorated. The entire house was quite sumptuously appointed.
This was my best rental through HomeAway to date. The house is located on a hill with beautiful views of Turnagain Arm, mountains and the surrounding foliage. What a sight to see first thing in the morning! The yards surrounding the house are so pretty that I sometimes regretted our full sightseeing schedule. It would have been nice to relax in those inviting lawn chairs with a book for a time. The interior was even better than the pictures, full of beautiful furnishings and personal touches done by the owners. All very clean as well. The bed in the master bedroom was amazingly comfortable for a rental. The property is conveniently located, particularly if you want to travel south, and it's not too far from the airport. Vicki is a five-star plus owner. She lives close by which was nice. Always helpful and accommodating, Vicki was full of great tips for sightseeing and restaurants. I would love to return some day.
We all really enjoyed our stay. Nice and private with everything you could need and more in the house. Would highly recommend
We finished four days and three nights camping/backpacking in the wilderness of Denali National Park, and were looking for peace, quiet, charm, and, frankly, a little luxury. Vicki's property provided all we could ask for. Vicki was kind enough to let us check in early and she helped us navigate a few bumps of our own making. She, her husband, and son were attentive to all of our needs, yet we didn't know that they were actually living below us. It was simply a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it.
Location is excellent. In the woods but close to Anchorage and next to Potter's Marsh where we went daily to see Bald Eagles, Moose and Salmon. Thanks Vicki!
My wife, son, daughter, and I had the best time in Anchorage for the first half of our AK adventures--what a great home and location for making base camp as we set out to see southern Alaska. Very true to the VRBO description, the house is in a very private neighborhood in the southern part of Anchorage, and that was perfect for trips to Seward, Girdwood, and downtown, and it was so close to Flattop Mtn, too. Didn't see any wildlife in the yard, but expected to each day, and saw plenty when we were out. Very convenient to grocery, which saved us plenty on eating out, and the house was well-appointed with all we need--very nicely decorated; great kitchen, bedrooms, and deck with grill. Can't thank you enough, Vicki for a fantastic stay! Brian & Brenda D.
The home is located in one of the best areas of Anchorage. The home sits on the top of a hill on 1.25 acres. Close proximity to Downtown Anchorage ,Flat Top, Potters Marsh, Kincaid Park, Golfing, and the Zoo. Only a short 45 minute drive to Girdwood and Portage Glacier. Day trips can include Palmer, Wasilla, Seward, Kenai Peninsula, Matanuska Susitna and Talkeetna where you can book a scenic flight and land on Mt McKinley Denali the highest mountain peak in North America, with a summit elevation of 20,310 feet.
