Chalet Chamoissiere is a one bedroom apartment with swimming pool in a beautiful location in the Serre Chevalier Valley. Your apartment is just a 200m walk to the pistes and 500m to the centre of the spa village of Le Monetier-les-Bains. The ground floor apartment is well-equipped for self-catering, but there are several excellent restaurants a short walk away. The apartment has an open plan living area with kitchenette, shower room, and a double bedroom. Kitchenette has large fridge with freezer compartment , four ring ceramic hob, oven and dishwasher. The lounge opens onto a sunny south-facing terrace with views of the mountains and pistes. There is a TV, DVD player and Ipod dock as well as board games and books.

Up to four people can be accommodated using double bedroom and comfortable sofa beds in the lounge area.

There is a ski locker and parking space, as well as a private changing cubicle for the spa complex which has a heated pool, sauna and hammam.

There is ample skiing just 200m away for all levels of skier from beginners to advanced. We are in a great location for summer walking and mountain biking too, and river sports such as kayaking and rafting are just metres from the apartment door.

The gardens are shared with the rest of the apartments, although we have our own small garden and terrace with mountain views.

Wireless Broadband internet access is provided (unless technical difficulties outside of our control prevent this)

Pets can be accommodated only by prior arrangement, and will be charged for at a rate of 20€ per pet per stay (we can accommodate a maximum of two dogs or cats).

The apartment also has a security alarm, videophone entry, and a designated parking space.

We booked this apartment at the last minute when our hotel booking in another village fell through. And what a lucky coincidence that turned out to be. The apartment is located at the foot of the ski run / piste in Le Monêtier-les-Bains, a lovely little village near Briancon. For skiing in the winter, or tramping in the summer, it could not be more perfectly located.

We were there in the warmer months and enjoyed the walks up the mountain side, the views and the clean air.

Clearly the family that owns this unit use it often, as it is equipped with everything you could possibly want and extremely comfortable, practical and functional. The kitchen is small but cleverly designed and perfect for even the most fussy of cooks. A comfortable bedroom, bathroom with shower and washing machine, living room and small terrace complete the accommodation.

The complex also contains a heated pool, sauna and steam rooms plus change-rooms and ski lockers - ideal for a visit any time of year.

Beautiful views, good location, fabulous apartment

We arrived to a snowy day and beautiful views of the mountains. The pistes were just a 5 minute walk away. The apartment is very well-equipped, and nothing has been forgotten. Helen's attention to detail is obvious throughout. Melanie, who met us on arrival was extremely helpful and organised our lift passes and ski school.

Séjour du 29 juillet au 12 août 2012.

Appartement très confortable de petite surface mais très fonctionnel meublé au goût du jour et très bien équipé. Belle et grande piscine chauffée. Cette résidence est très bien tenue avec la présence d'un gardien attentif. Les prestations annoncées sont bien présentes. Très bon accueil et suivi de notre hôtesse Mélanie. Toutes les conditions sont réunies pour un excellent séjour en famille.

Le Monetier et ses environs offrent un très large choix d'activités et de restauration. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le restaurant LE PASTELLI au Hameau du BEZ avec ses spécialités de montagne et son ... cochon à la broche.

Nous sommes très satisfaits.

Well appointed chalet in a gorgeous valley

We arrived at the chalet in February 2012. The listing was completely as described. It was a well-appointed chalet very convenient to the lifts. It was in excellent condition and very clean. A charming village with some very good restaurants is nearby. The rental is managed onsite by a very competent and pleasant young woman who went out of her way to make our stay wonderful.

We would definitely recommend this property.

What a find...what a beautiful place

I found La Chamoissiere whilst doing an internet search for the second week of a two week summer break to France. We drove over from the Dordogne comfortably in a day, stepped in the door and felt at home. My mother who was with us for a couple of days wanted to move in, our 5 year old declared the bed the most comfortable she had ever stayed in and my husband sat on the terrace with his glass of wine and marvelled at the view of what are now "our" mountains.

Helen and Julian have thought of everything, the chalet uses every available inch of space and is supremely well equipped and comfortable.

We had amazing weather and hiked up to Lac de la Douche and Cime des Conchiers both of which were fantastic days out. We took the Bachus chair lift up the mountain and had delicious jambon cru and salad at the cafe at the top. We also drove to Bardonecchia in Italy through some amazing mountain passes.

Our daugher loved the outdoor play area near the Baths and I guarantee you will not find a playground with a better view. Everywhere you go in Monetier the mountains surround you with their beauty.

I cannot recommend the place highly enough. A week was not enough and next year we will be back for two. Forget the Dordogne!!

Whilst the public baths were heaving with people, we were rather smugly sharing the fantastic outdoor pool with one or two other friendly people at most. It was heavenly. I almost don't want to tell you how wonderful in case you book it and it's not available when I want to come back!!

The only negative thing was the service at the Pizzeria des Neiges, where we ate out once. The food that arrived was good, it's just the rest of the food did not arrive! Maybe they were having an off day. The entertaining Kiwis at the next table pointed out that a lot of takeaways were flying out the door so it might be quicker to call them for a takeaway from the table!!! We might try that next time. I ended up having to argue over the bill with the Peter Stringfellow lookalike owner, he shouted back at me but all in good humour ;-) I must however recommend a visit there as an encounter with Mrs Stringfellow is not to be missed. Say no more.

Summer in Chamoissiere....

We have just come back from our 5th visit. We have grown a bit from our original visit as there are now five of us (children aged 2, 6, & 12). We are not walkers so I cannot comment on that, but there are several cable cars (Briancon, Chantemerle, Le Grave (& Ice Cave) & Montegenrve (we haven't been up the last one) that take you up - and the views are to die for.

Briancon is the main 'local' shopping town with many eating places & 'gifty' type shops. The Carrefour supermarket (aka Tesco!) is there too.

The Chalet itself is fantastic, for the first time in Summer we found ourselves having to use the underfloor heating for a night, the kitchen area is suitable for family food times & for setting up your laptop (with WiFi included) & games etc. The Chalet has always been clean & well looked after & our contact in France, English Mel, is always welcoming & ready to help with any quieries you (probably wont) have....

A quick walk up the hill & you can be in Monetier 'high street' (Chemist, mini supermarket, restaurants etc) within 10mins - quicker than getting the car out!

The only reason I wouldn't recommend this place would be because I am selfish & wouldn't want my friends to 'nick' my holiday.... lol.


We fly in to Turin & it takes less than 2hrs drive to Chamoissiere.

as always, we hope to get back next year........

A Perfect Holiday

We have just returned from our fourth stay at this apartment and are in the process of booking for next year.Although tempted to try somewhere different it is hard to imagine being able to find anywhere that ticks all the boxes in the way that Helen's property does.

Don't be put off by the size as the ingenious layout and high level of equipment makes this place more than adequate for a family of four.

We have always been very warmly greeted and have always found the apartment to be spotlessly clean and well maintained.

The view from the main room is to die for, and is only 5 minutes walk to the lifts.The patio is a sun trap on sunny days.

The skiing is great, the local restaurants in the village ( 10 minutes walk ) are good, and the on site pool and sauna make a perfect end to a day on the slopes.

A look at the "House Book" shows how much previous guests have thought of the place.

Our apartment is situated in the village of Le Monetier-les-Bains, the highest in the Serre Chevalier ski area (250kms of pistes). It is close to the slopes (about 200m) which are accessed via a footbridge across the Guisane River. There is ample skiing for all levels, and there are many off-piste routes to be explored. Monetier is 12kms from the main town of Briancon, a walled town built by the famous military architect Vauban, and 20 minutes from the Italian border. In summer there are a multitude of activities to enjoy, climbing, walking, via ferrata, rafting, kayaking, and mountain biking.

The area is also famous for it’s close proximity to the major mountain stages of the Tour de France, the Col du Lauteret, Granon, Galibier and Alpe d'Huez are all close by. Across the Col du Lauteret is the glacier of La Meije, and you can enjoy summer skiing at Deux Alpes.

Out of season, it is a quiet,relaxed place to be. Sit on the terrace and enjoy the views of the Parc des Ecrins.

Ski: The ski area of Serre Chevalier with 250km of pistes is just 200m from the door. The area is well-known for it's great off-piste opportunities, but there is something for every level of skier from beginner to extreme. The nursery slopes of Monetier are just 200m from the door, and the Bachas chairlift will take you up quickly to 2000m where you can access the Yret, Cibouit and Eychauda chairlifts. From Yret head over to the Cucumelle to access the remainder of the Grand Serre Che area, then return in just 7 minutes using the new Vallons chairlift.
