About Charles Glaser

I am a retired High school teacher.( 42 years! )I grew up in Buffalo New York and moved to Florida in 1973. I taught Drafting and Wood Shop and coached Cross-Country and Track. Now I am enjoying my retirement by doing lots of traveling and managing my vacation rentals.

Charles Glaser purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Charles Glaser chose Pine Island

I purchased this property when I was still teaching with the intention of offering it as a vacation rental. It has worked out great! I have met lots of wonderful and interesting people in the process. It gives me a lot of satisfaction to see people enjoy the cottage and have a wonderful experience on our little Island.

What makes this cottage unique

I like to give my guests a personal touch. I do all the bookings and management my self, (no service fees ) and am there if you have any questions.

Matlacha is a quaint little Key West style village. When you arrive in Matlacha you are greeted with a sign that proclaims ' Island time begins here ' You feel like you are in another world, yet you are close to major shoping and the many attractions that Southwest Florida has to offer.

You will not be disappointed! We arrived earlier this month and sadly will be leaving next week. What has made our stay so special is getting to know Charlie and our neighbors on the canal. The house is comfortable with a very quiet air conditioner. We have spent many relaxing hours on the back deck as the mullet jumpedand the birds flew by.. We spend our mornings drinking coffee on the front porch watching the Osprey across the street feed their young. My wife said we have joined the crack of noon club.We have enjoyed several local restaurants but it is hard to beat just grilling some fresh seafood on the back porch. The canoeing and kayaking are spectacular!

Looking for a quiet and relaxing place? This is it.

I arrived early afternoon on Nov. 10 and was able to have early access to the cottage. There was a lovely note with a nice bottle of wine awaiting me from Charlie, who is a great host. Neighbors are nice and very friendly. "Gracie", the dog next door is a sweetheart. It was a joy to be able to spend a whole week at this peaceful place. I had a few friends over and the reaction was the same as mine to the place. They were even trying to think of friends who might like to visit and stay. I took walks at sunset several times and was able to get some amazing pictures of the gorgeous sunsets that occur. The cottage is within walking distance to great shops, restaurants and fishing. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Would definitely stay again should my house be rented as it was for this stay.

Clean, comfortable, inviting and very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We arrived on Sunday afternoon after a very long two day drive from NJ to a warm welcome note and bottle of wine from the owner!

The cottage is exactly as pictured, clean and maintained.

We enjoyed that we could come back after a day exploring to grill our dinner out on the deck, eat, relax with a glass of wine watching the sun go down. You also do not need to drag a boatload of clothes with you, if flying a carry on will be sufficient as there is a full size washer and dryer.

I would recommend this property to friends or family and if ever I vacation in Matlacha again I would see if this property was available before booking some where else.

After we left received a voicemail from the owner as my cell was off thanking us for leaving the place as we found it, our security deposit was refunded within days after leaving.

As far as attractions it is worth the drive up to Sarasota to the Ringling museum, also the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford museum, right next to each other, in Fort Myers was interesting. Matlacha has a nice little park with fishing pier you can walk to from the cottage.

We went to Berts but Micelli's became our Happy Hour place. Music every night, good food, great staff and reasonable pricing.

Wish I was still there.

clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

A welcomed and restful stay in a very peaceful, quite area with friendly neighbors. The back deck was a wonderful place to relax. Our grand kids had a fun time catching a few fish. It was clean and comfortable. Lots of places to eat and shop with in walking distance. The owner was very caring and went out of the way to make us comfortable. I will miss the back deck. Will recomend to frinds and family.

Darling cottage on cutest little island...

  • 5 of 5

This island cottage on a canal was perfect for a kayaking and canoeing nature adventure. The home is well furnished and complete even with a back deck BBQ. The owner is very sensitive to his guests having a good time and checked in to make sure all was going well. Neighbors and businesses were quite friendly and helpful and there was plenty of evening entertainment within walking distance of home. I had a great time there and have no hesitations in recommending this place to other travelers to this area.
