We've stayed in Trumans Annex before but this house and location exceeded what we expected by 110%. The home was pristine and hidden back off the street so we felt removed from the party of Duval yet less than a couple blocks when we were ready. We rented bikes so exploring the complete [flat] island was our favorite. Renting from AtHomeInKeyWest was a breeze. They responded fast and efficiently to anything I asked. Will definately stay in Trumans at this home again! The owners artwork is amazing!
This home is great...lots of room. Enjoyed the 2.5 bathrooms with our group. The location was perfect for walking to Duval St., the shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend to any one who enjoys space. Wonderful art work through out the house.
Nice condo in Truman Annex in a good location. Walking distance to Mallory Square and great restaurants. Only downfall was distance from rental office if you are not renting a car and lugging suitcases.
First of all, the home is very nice. Well furnished and in a lovely neighborhood. Though, I was disappointed that the showers still had the standard, builder-grade shower heads. With Key West's notoriously low water pressure, it took me forever to rinse my hair. A million+ dollar homeowner can't install a decent handheld? I think the last time I saw these shower heads was in my first apartment, before I promptly replaced them with a decent one.
But now to the disappointing part. I can't believe none of the previous reviewers mentioned this. The home backs up to the local post office. The BACK of the post office. Have you ever wondered what time the trucks load up for the day's deliveries? Try 5:00 am. Every. Day. Beep, Beep! Slam! Engine revs! Beep, beep, slam! Holy mother of loud. Please make it stop! Is this some kind of cruel joke?!?!
You know what else the post office is popular for besides ridiculously loud trucks at all hours of the day? Roosters and chickens. Probably 100 of them live on the grounds of the post office. Oh! So cute to take pictures of! Do you know when the roosters crow? 6 am? You think? Try 4 am, and pretty much all day long. They don't just crow to wake up, they crow ALL DARN DAY. Try napping after a long day of sightseeing and pool lounging. Good luck with that. The earplugs I purchased helped a little bit. Not much.
So, I'm sorry. While the home is very nice and in a great location, I cannot recommend it to someone wanting to come down and relax. Unless you are hard of hearing. Then it's perfect!
We have stayed many times in units in the Foundry Building about 1 block in from this unit (shares the same pool). That building is solid brick (as opposed to wood) and very quiet. What a difference a block and some brick makes.
The "Artist Garden" property was lovely. We couldn't have asked for a better location than Truman Annex. Our family rented scooters and bikes but you could pretty much walk to any of the major locations/attractions in Key West from the location. There is one parking spot which was perfect for our scooters and bikes. The pool was very close to the property itself so it wasn't a hassle at all to go back and forth from property to pool. The property exceeded my expectations and was simply gorgeous. The living room and kitchen area were so spacious and allowed for the whole family to gather on a daily basis. There is so much art work on the walls that I would discover a new piece everyday. It really felt like home away from home. I cannot wait to come back to Key West and hopefully back to the "Artist Garden" property again.
My husband and I had not been on a 'real' vacation for years and on a whim I decided we needed to go to Key West. I booked this trip three weeks out and the Artist Garden was one of the few available. Lucky for us it was a perfect choice! Just a couple of blocks from Duval and Mallory Square made all the difference. Everything was easy to walk to - we even turned the rental car in early! A nicely updated and very comfortable home. The only thing I would have liked was a blender that can make smoothies - or frozen drinks! I would stay here again and I definitely recommend it! The rental agency, @Home in Key West, was wonderful as well. They provided information about activities in Key West and made the rental process very simple. Thanx!
