Joy and I first became friends when I moved to Boston MA and began working at MGH as a nurse. We became instant kindred sisters. I am from New Orleans and she originally from Jamaica but a MA resident for thirty years. She had never been to New Orleans. I brought her to Jazz fest one year and she fell in love with the city immediately. Our love for New Orleans is what inspired us to begin our quest to buy properties and restore them to the original architecture. We have put our hearts and soul into this house to make it the perfect home for vacationing. Our mission is to enjoy life, family, friends, and have fun, we endeavor to bring this to our guests. Of course I moved back to my home where I manage and take care of the properties. She remains in Boston where she continues her nursing career and actually just received her practitioner degree. I retired from nursing and devote my full time to the house and guests.
Velissa Alldredge purchased this house in 2013
We love the neighborhood and area. This property was built in the late 1800's when there was an influx of Caribbean immigrants. The architecture resembles that influence with the New Orleans design. We totally gutted the house restoring the high ceilings and original floors. We updated the heating, cooling, and water. We converted from shotgun to long hallway with private bedrooms. We began two years ago and now we enjoy the art that has been created.
Reserved parking. New HVAC system, New On-demand water system, New kitchen appliances, Direct TV with all premium channels and NFL Ticket. Great Coffee shop across street. Nearby grocery, fresh markets, restaurants, bars. This is the best neighborhood to sit on your front stoop to meet and greet all the great people in the area, local or visiting.
We really felt at home in this sweet cottage and charming neighborhood. This year we branched out to explore more things in the Marigny immediate area and spent most evenings on Frenchman street listening to great music. We had great meals and drinks at various places on Magazine street and went back to an old favorite "Frankie & Johnnys". We hope to make this an annual visit and hope to stay again. Parking by the house was a plus also sitting out on the front of the house greeting walkers-by and petting charming dogs as they went for their walks.
We were a group of six and planned on visiting the french quarter and Frenchman street. The location is only a short walk from both. Nice restaraunts and shops along the way. The house was clean and just as advertised. We parked right in front for easy unpacking and packing. We sat on the stoop and had coffee with the locals. There is a nice coffee shop across the street and a great breakfast place two blocks up the street.Would definitely recommend.
This is a wonderful house in a great neighborhood. I was here with a large party for my birthday. We stayed at 711 Mandeville for a week. It is comfortable and had everything we needed. The tv and wifi were good, kitchen well stocked and there were plenty of towels and sheets and a washer dryer. The house was exactly as pictured. There was even a costumed parade that went by on Saturday night. The neighborhood is fun, just a few blocks from great music on Frenchmen Streets.
Excellent location. Property is located in the Marigny area, close to Frenchmen St. It is a short walk into the French Quarter/Bourbon St. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee. If you don't find what you like, just walk across the street to a small coffee shop. The owner was wonderful to deal with. I highly recommend this property. We plan to use it again in the future.
This is a well appointed, charming home very close to the French Quarter which is much nicer than Bourbon St.
Don't be deceived by the outside picture, the home inside is quite spacious and has all you can need for a short or long stay. The street is very quaint and you can sit out the front in the chairs provided and watch the people with their dogs go by, a very friendly area. I went our the front one morning and it had been raining so the chairs were wet but a gentleman two doors up who was sitting out the front offered to wipe my chair for me, very nice.
I felt very safe there. Thank you Velissa our stay was most enjoyable.
My friends and I rented this house for Jazzfest and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Marigny! The location was a minutes walk from Frenchmans Street as well as so many great restaurants. Breakfast places like the Ruby Slipper, the Cake Cafe and Horns were just several blocks away, all highly recommended! The house itself slept 2 couples very comfortably. The back porch was perfect for relaxing on! I would absolutely recommend this house for a stay in the Marigny and hope to be renting there again in the future.
Property is located in the heart of the Marigny, surrounded by coffee shops, antique stores, novelty shops, parks, river, great bars and restaurants all within walking distance. The French quarter is located four blocks away where music, festivals and numerous attractions abound. This area is where you want to be for the best of New Orleans.
