Jeff and Linda Gibbs
Jeff and Linda Gibbs purchased this house in 2015
this rental served our purposes perfectly. We ;needed a large dining food prep area that would accommodate all 19 of us. there 10 adults and nine chirldren from 1 to 10 years old. bedrooms sufficed and the open area of kitchen and living area were great. the beach was shallow and all nice sand and the kids played for hours on end will minimal need for "lifeguard" duty as such. We made sure there was at least two adults immediately nearby and fwe never missed TVs, radios, etc. even thought the cottage did have them available. the deck was big and we ate out there the few evenings it was not scorching hot. We did not miss the AC as the cottage always seemed to have a breeze and the water was right there for relief. The dock was satisfactory too. we had a good sized ski boat as well as kayaks we brought for our own use (although there was a canoe already there we did not use it) Town, with all the amenities was only two miles away with the water park available and well run (supposedly the biggest water park in NY state. parking was ample and having the owner next door was reassuring although we never needed anything. negatives were few most likely due to the owners just getting into the rental "thing". the outdoor gas grill was in "well used shape" and should be replaces. the front sliding doors were sometimes not sliding well and need some attention. Kitchen utensils just satisfactory but again we did have 19 mouths to feed! We always clean our rentals ourselves and the owner mailed us our refund without question within four days. We would make a suggestion to the owners that a notebook (like we almost always find in our rentals) filled with advice for hiking, dining, shopping etc. ----such as the little bakery in Inlet which was superb, the train ride which was especially fun with the kids but we all enjoyed it. One of our families was in this area last year and they served as a guide to many of the attractions in the area with options that can only be afforded when someone has lived there for a while. Now, bottom line. For a large group/family this was really nice for us. the price was reasonable for the area as it is very popular around there. I would advise that the little shortcomings mentioned should be addressed and I am sure they will be. i can only hope any prospective renter has a good a time as we did. If you like quiet in the evenings this is a good place. We had at least five evening campfires
Could not have found a better place to spend a week reminiscing about our families summers spent in the Adirondacks. This was our first experience renting a vacation home. There were 12 of us for most of the week and we had plenty of room, The location was perfect. We were off the beaten path enough to insure quiet peaceful evenings on the patio or around the firepit without hearing any road noise. The walk in beach was great! The owners were right next door and had the sweetest dog you could ever meet. Since we all have pets that we had to board or leave with friends we really enjoyed playing with this sweetheart of a dog! We would love to return again.
We stayed for a week on 1st Lake at this lovely property. We had as many as 16 people throughout the week and the accommodations were more than adequate. The kitchen was large enough for a family spaghetti dinner and breakfasts daily. The large front yard with the sandy beach was enjoyed by the kids and grandkids for swimming, kan-jam and Corn hole tournaments and even kick ball. A fantastic vacation at this spot for our family and we definitely plan to go back!
Me and 13 of my friends went up here for a guys get away golf weekend and had a great time. The view is great, the place is very quiet and Linda and Jeff are right next-door for anything that you need and very accommodating. We plan to be back again many times as the place was big enough for our group and very comfortable.
This is a great rental for large groups. We had 4 families and there was more than enough space to accommodate everyone. The house was clean and organized. There was a game area for the kids with a ping pong table. The kitchen was just the right size for the number of people we had to feed. The beds were comfortable and there was a little hideaway for the kids to play and sleep upstairs. The living room was spacious and overlooked the lake and the beautiful mountain scenery. There was a nice big wrap around deck with a bonus screened in porch. The backyard was big enough for us to play ultimate Frisbee with the kids and there was a nice sandy beach for my 3 young daughters to swim. The dock was big enough for us to tie off 2 large party barges that we rented from the marina in town. The property has easy access to the chain of lakes which we navigated all the way up to 4th Lake. We parked the boats at the public park (for free) and had a nice lunch at a little pizzeria in town. Linda and her family were more than helpful and her son taught us how to build a campfire the Adirondack way. If you want a 5 star hotel do not rent a cabin in the Adirondack Park. The cottages are simple and rustic and reflect the independence and work ethic of the people who live there. If you appreciate the little things in life this is the place for you. Great views, spacious interior and exterior, and privacy. It is hard to make everyone happy when you rent for a large group but this rental accomplished that. Thank you for a great stay!
We rented this home for our annual family vacation and had a great time. There was plenty of room for all 6 families. The house was clean with all amenities provided. The outdoors was well maintained and the location right on the lake was perfect. We would definitely stay here again.
