I booked for our group of 15 who go four-wheeling every year. Everyone was pleasantly surprised when they got there! This place is absolutely beautiful and very roomy!! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need! Plenty of refrigerator space for a large group and plenty of beds! I'm sure we will be back!
We were well impressed with almost everything about the Osage Schoolhouse. Rooms are attractively painted with several chalkboards, a (well used by us!) checkers and chess table, three containers of children's toys, three davenports and one comfy chair, two computers and a large TV screen for family fun -- perfect for our evening sing-alongs. A well-stocked and attractive kitchen area for cooking, with dishwasher. Several dining tables. Three bathrooms upstairs, two downstairs. All furniture and bedspreads are high quality. Our only problem occurred when plumbing plugged up and we were unable to do laundry or use the master bathroom for the last three days. The manager was outstandingly friendly and helpful, even brought us cornstarch on Sunday so we could make family-style gravy with our meat, potatoes and veggie supper! We felt like - minus the laundry episode -- we experienced the best of Minnesota country hospitality.
This was our 2nd stay at the Osage Schoolhouse. We can't say enough good things about this rental. It is the perfect fit for our annual family gathering, offering just the right balance of togetherness and privacy. There are so many sleeping spaces, so everyone gets a good sleep (comfortable mattresses and fun room themes) and the shared living space is very large and beautifully decorated, with so many detailed touches of creativity. Even with several electronic devices in use, the Wifi is fast. The kitchen has all the right supplies, right down to the Keurig with lots of choices of beverages to try. The owner and manager are very responsive to messages.
The only item to note is that if you have kids using the upper bunks, there aren't side rails. Our kids are old enough that it isn't much of an issue and they love the bunk room--they feel like it is a slumber party!
We will be back!
This remade old schoolhouse has a lot of character. It is tastefully decorated, with large rooms to gather and visit. We have stayed twice in this residence, and both times it is impeccably clean! It is close to a boat dock for fishing and close to a swim area. The town is quiet, and there is a restaurant /bar/convenience store right across the road. It is excellent for family reunions, or couples to stay and play.
This was our 21st annual "BrendenFest" gathering with family members from MN, SD and MO. Every year we spend a long weekend together eating, laughing and enjoying family time. We have stayed at 21 different locations around the midwest and this was by far the best accommodations we've had! We had 16 people this year and I believe this is the first time everyone has had a bed! The gathering areas were perfect for games, eating, relaxing and even nerf gun wars! The kitchen was stocked beyond expectations! Two coffee pots, two crock pots, every pan and dish you can imagine...it was awesome as we cook all our meals together. We had our ladder ball tournament outside and enjoyed time on the deck. While it may not be the most picturesque setting we've stayed at it was certainly the best facility. And Linda was amazing...even brought us fresh-picked strawberries!!
We had our four children, their spouses and several of our grandkids together for a family reunion. It was wonderful to all be together in a very roomy, comfortable house.
We would love to go back and do it again someday, as we all decided we had discovered a "gold mine".
The house manager was very helpful and wonderful to work with, thank you Lynda.
Thank you to the owner old this old schoolhouse, what a great place!
